  1. Remind me again what positions there are not huge questions marks at? 1B? yup, 2nd, yup, SS, yup, 3rd, kind of, and all three outfield spots (when Buxton isn't healthy) and this isn't a complete rebuild? Sure there are a few pieces here already, maybe (Lewis, Lee, Buxton, Jeffers, Wallner) but there are why more questions marks in the 13 active roster spots then not. As for the pitchers you listed there, you have three Ryan, Lopez and Ober. (2 of three aren't pitching) and couple of shown some promising moments (Matthew, Bradley, Festa, SWR) and the rest of just prospects and beside Prelipp not super highly though to prospects (kind of like any other pitching prospects for the last X amount of years) So maybe you are correct it isn't a complete rebuild but it sure is a complete where need to figure most of hte roster out still type of thing.
  2. I agree with you, it is absolutely the MO of this FO to waste time on guys they shouldn't be wasting time on. Roden will be 26 next year, Outman 29 (in May), Larnach 29, Martin 27, Wallner (28) great ages for established players, not so great of age for rebuilding team to be figuring out what they have. (Roden, Outman, Larnach, and Wallner all hit left handed. what good is it having all these guys on the major league roster? ) As for Culpepper he played three years of college ball, has close to 500 at bats in the minors, and turns 23 in the offseason, if he needs much more time in the minors he isn't the player the Twins need him to be. Shouldn't a rebuild actually involve some sort of youth? I mean as it stands now, will the Twins have any player under the age of 25 going into next season? I mean this could be considered the worst rebuild in the history of the game, when it isn't being rebuilt with youth.
  3. Honest question how is 26 a transition year? Unless they bring up the stud prospects now to see what they have 26 and 27 seem like transition years, But 27 is the last year for the big three pitching, so they are likely to at some point as well. I mean right now (as of today) the Twins have what 3 legit MLB players on their active roster (Ryan, Jeffers, Sands) , a few backups and couple of hopefuls (Lewis, Lee, Wallner, SWR, Matthews) This team isn't a year plus away, it is likely by the time they are good again, Lewis, Lee, Wallner, SWR, Sands, Ryan and others will have moved on. The team as it currently stands isn't close to being competitive.
  4. Ya'll is a huge stretch, I would say less than half of the comments were calling for that. (Probably because the other half was more for blowing up the FO and Manager who have been failures) One of the problems with this blow up is they left the sh!t (Tonkin, Topa, Vazquez, Gasper, Clemens, Larnach, Keirsey) for the fans to smell. If you are going to do a rebuild tear it all the way down,
  5. It should be Jenkins, GG and ERod in the outfield. Lewis, Culpepper, Lee and Keaschall in the infield, Wallner DH with a new manager. Any thing less is a kick to the nuts to the fans. But my guess is we will see the retread team out there Rocco, Larnach, Keirsey, Outman, Julien, Miranda and possibly ever other non prospect late bloomer over the age of 25 player. There is no chance of me watching the Twins or even caring about them if the don't bring up at least two of the kids.
  6. So the plan was to spent 8 years trying win one two game playoff series, then do a complete rebuild ? This FO has been has been one failure after the next. Will yesterday be marked as the official time of death for the MN Twins (for the fans) or will the team continue to pretend they have some relevancy?
  7. IMO baseball people complain because this baseball is just less entertaining (knowing or liking the reasons for change doesn't really matter) if what you are watching and paying for isn't enjoyable. End of story You can tell me all the reasons a burger place changed a beef burger to a vegan burger and those reason might make sense but when I bite into it and it isn't as good, I will stop going to that place.
  8. Most of the changes in the other sports have been or are to make the sport better and more entertaining. Baseball seems to do the opposite.
  9. I am super pumped to see this Noah Davis fellow.
  10. So what is the cost of putting Julien at 1B? Who sits if CC is still on the team? Lee, Lewis, Keschall? Sure if the option is France or Julien I am taking Julien. But that shouldn't be the question.
  11. Both Ohl and Festa are 25, Ohl will be 26 in just over a month, so literally there is zero chance they will be as good as Glavine and Smoltz. Evening using their names in a comparison is slap in the face to the hall of famers and completely unfair to Ohl and Festa. There are plenty of legit comps to make with them. I think both could be fine, but it is way different struggling or getting to the majors in your mid 20's then it is in your early 20's.
  12. The good thing is if it isn't until 27, you will have you pick of seats at Target Field, because if next year is anything like the last two, the place will be close to empty.
  13. I don't care to see any player older than 25 be brought up (unless they are a pitcher). Erod, Jenkins, GG, Culpepper, Keaschall, Schobel, Rosario (maybe somebody I missed) these are the types of guys that should be given a chance in a lost season. Not the Julien's, Miranda, McCusker and other players that don't seem to have a future beyond back up, bit player or injury replacement.
  14. Adman's stuff isn't good enough to be a starter or back end relief pitcher. So the teams is creating a new type of pitcher in the minors that can pitch multiple innings on less rest with less stuff, and to most people Surprise (NOT) he isn't very good at that. (minors career ERA 4.41, this years ERA 3.68 AAA) On the radio yesterday they said the same things as Seth, he has been doing well in his role (prior to yesterday) I agree with you if his role is to sacrificial lamb, he is doing well.
  15. Wonderful he is the best defensive SS, his career OPS in the minors is .683 and hasn't played above AA (AA - OPS is .683). He just turned 24 in June (Which wouldn't be the end of the world if he even had a replacement level bat, which he does not), he shouldn't be playing any position over anybody. His future is a minor league place holder for the next prospect to come up (where ever he is playing)
  16. Lopez in 2022 pitched in 23 games for the Twins had 1 loss, 4 saves, 1 hold and two blown saves, 0 WAR. 23 he was bad. He had 17 games where he didn't give up a run. 3 games of 1, 2 games of 2 runs, 1 of 4, That might not be great but it also isn't just plain bad, it was basically replacement level ( what I don't remember is/was that better than they were running out there?
  17. what is so disastrous about this? Steer was good in 2023, decent in 2024, Cano was great in 2023, good in 2024, Povich has a career ERA of over 5 and an negative WAR in both years he has played. Gibson-Long was good for 20 innings last year and not good in 23 this year. The Twins tried to improve their team, it didn't go as planned but it really didn't cost them much to try. If we want to debate if Mahle was the right pitcher to go after or if Steer was the right infielder to trade, sure, but if the Twins not having the traded away guys isn't the problem with this or last years team. I would argue 2022 is an example of why it should be done (when the time is right of course)
  18. Honest question, since the current FO got here what player have they acquired (drafted, signed or traded for as a minor league player has played in more than 100 games in a year? (Jeffers 1 (122), Larnach 1 (112), Julien 1, (109), if you want to include Miranda who was a 2nd round pick the year prior 2, 121,125) Am I missing anybody? Who is blame for that complete lack of anything good and lasting? I love the prospect as much as anybody but until they have played a couple years they don't count.
  19. I agree on priority of trading players, but the question was - prioritize energy spent and leadership involvement And if the Twins are combing though all rosters and their minor league teams looking for their FA to be, that IMO seems counter productive, combing though the minor league teams that come calling is a better use of time IMO. With Jax and Duran I would assume every team in contention and even larger market teams will call, so I am spending my time looking at players in their minors that I would be willing to trade for. But if only one team comes calling for France then you take what they offer or spend a few minutes coming up with a counter.
  20. IMO, probably 3rd, behind Jax and Duran. the FA to be should be just handling incoming calls. Martin, Miranda and Julien are a waste of time unless they can be packaged with another trade. I am not spending any time on Ryan, because the only way I am trading him is if somebody comes calling with an offer I couldn't refuse. IMO Larnach shouldn't be on the team next year and I don't want to lose him for nothing.
  21. we can't have articles complaining about payroll and then ignore what Larnach costs for what he returns, we (mostly probably me) can't complain about the 40 man and then continue to clog it up with marginal or slightly average players. We can't talk about getting the young guys up then say marginal or average players can't be let go. If Jenkins (or Erod) is starting next year which IMO one absolutely should be, what is the point of having Larnach on the team? (platoon dh?) Which is why I said trade him for whatever or include him with others to get a better return. Or the can do what they did with Polanco pick up a big salary and pay pennies on the dollar in a trade later.
