in 103 plate appearances he has been great (or better) but if that is all you can come up with doesn't that seem more like the old blind squirrel nut analogy?

agreed, but why a 31 year old with his history? Because he can strike out minor league hitters? He isn't a good pitcher and there is no reason his innings couldn't go to some minor league player. (Which it is a kind of joke the Twins minor league pitchers numbers are)

agreed it ended up being terrible but it wasn't being thought of that way, until they all failed. (not blaming this FO for that) Buxton top 2 prospect in 2016 Berrios top 20 prospect in 2016 Kepler top 50 in 2016 Jay top 80 prospect in 2016 Gordon top was top 60 prospect in 2017 ( BA - 60, MLB - 50, BP - 48), top 100 in 2016 Gonzo top 100 prospect in 17 and 18 Romero top 100 prospects in 2018 AK top 30 prospect in 2017 (by 1) , 2019, 2020, 21 Lewis top 50 or so prospect from 18-22 Javier was close to a top 100 prospects in 18 Stewart had fallen out of top prospects That doesn't include prospects that weren't highly ranked but ended up in the majors, Arraez, Ynoa, Garver, Miranda, Wade, Baddoo. If that is inheriting a terrible farm system, Wow! (I get that it is hard to recover from the Gonzo, Romero, Jay, and Stewart fiasco, but wouldn't a good front office, have used them for trade bait in 17 or 19 when the team was going to the playoffs?) And again they inherited a starting Outfield (Buxton, Rosario, Kepler), as starting infield (Escobar, Polanco, Dozier, Mauer he did put up 4.1 WAR in 17, Sano) and the number 1 pick. Lets not pretend the cupboard was bare.- 108 replies

So 3 relief pitchers, Ober, a traded for starter and Jeffers for development since 2017. That is the Hill you want to stand on for this Front office? Remember in 2017 when they got the job, this was the prime job to get, they had vets in Mauer, Dozier, Escobar, young guns Berrios, Buxton, Sano, Kepler, Rosario, Polanco, and others like Gibson, Pressly, Rogers, Duffey, Busenitz, Tonkin, Jorge, former #1 picks AK, Gordon, Jay, Stewart, top 100 prospects pitchers Gonzo, Romero, other prospects like Garver, Mejia, Chargois, Javier, Burdi, Arraez, Wade, Hildenberger, Reed, Melotakis, Thorpe, Baddoo, Ynoa and the number 1 overall pick. It was basically their job to figure out the pitching to go with those, by the time they did, the needed hitting again. This FO has been pretty darn good or probably better than average on getting guys to the majors, but haven't figured out of to surround those guys with really good players. (They tried with Donaldson and Correa and brought in other vets to fill roles but that worked so well either)- 108 replies

Where you one of the people saying Keirsay was legit? Honestly can't remember if you were, anyway. Austin Martin has done nothing to deserve the praise you are giving him. If he wasn't a first round pick and one of the players the Twins got for Berrios, nobody would know him because he hasn't done enough to deserve notice. His career minor league SLG (.365) is below is OBP (.399), with a .266 BA. Luis Arraez career minor league SLG (.413), OBP (.385) and BA .331. Difference Arraez did that all before age 22. Martin as a 26 year old in AAA (.319/.420/.398/.829), while they look good, they are not, they would look better maybe if he stole bases. He is a utility player because that is what he is, has this FO screwed him up, mostly likely yes, they are terrible.- 108 replies

Erod, Lee and Keaschall or the only position players under the age of 25, Raya, Abel, SWR and Bradley on the pitching side, This is not a young team, inexperienced? Yes, but not young. Now they aren't a old team either with only handful of guys over 30, but only two guys between the young and old that are studs. (Ryan and Lopez) and whole lot of players they are trying to figure out. But IMO what makes it a joke, is when you look at each player most legitimately deserve a 40 man spot on a team, just not all on the same team.- 108 replies

TwinsDr2021 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Can't really disagree with what you are saying but can disagree that they are set for 26 or even really that close in 26. IMO is a huge stretch to say any minor league player is better than a major league players that have never really been below average league players (Minus Wallner in 18 games in 22). I sure hope all the Twins prospects turn out but banking on them being Keaschall like; might be a bit hopeful. So if the move on from Larnach (Which they should) they have a question mark in left, a fingers crossed Buxton stays healthy, and a platoon in right (Wallner and who?) A left side of the infield that is a question mark on hitting (currently sitting at 84 and 88 OPS+) a second year player who is likely a stud, nobody at first, and a legit player catcher but FA to be. DH? With a bench of 29 year Outman, 27 year old Martin, 30 year old Clemens and a 30 year old back up catcher that is worse offensively than Vazquez? Assuming Roden (LH outfielder DH, playing the role of Laranch) is on the team, Not sure how ERod fits on the them (unless Buxton goes down), Culpepper could take SS or 3B, if 3rd Lewis to DH/1B, if SS Lee moves to 3B or utility role. Gonzalez/Rosario could be the platoon with Wallner and DH. As for Jenkins when he comes up you play him somewhere everyday and figure out what to do with the others. This seems like a team that could if everything goes right could contend for the division, if not likely in the same place they are this year. (and if I was a betting man, I going big on the being in the same place)- 108 replies

Who on the position side are they running out there that says 26 is the focus? Martin, Outman, Clemens, Fitzgerald, Larnach? (Could have said Roden) sure you can say Lee and Lewis (But who else do they have?) The position side of the 40 man is such a joke it is filled with players likely to be back (Buxton, Jeffers, Lewis, Lee, Wallne, Keaschallr) or guys that probably shouldn't back (Larnach, Outman, Martin, Fitzgerald, Clemens, Julien, Gasper and Vazquez)- 108 replies

TwinsDr2021 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
So those three and I will throw in Clemens, Fitzgerald, and Outman (possibly Larnach). that makes 6-7 guys currently on the active roster that have to be replaced, and how again is the Twins not far off on the position side? and where are the replacements coming from? (Jenkins, Erod, Culpepper isn't enough) so it has to come from FA (which they don't do) or those guys currently on the roster. Unless of course they trade away one or two of Ryan/Lopez and then there is a hole there, right? This FO has totally screwed up the roster construction of the team.- 108 replies

It is amazing isn't it, Eeles is coming to save the day, Julien is like a half of year older and outperformed him and he is done and Eeles is a savior. Some Twins fans just love way too old of minor league players to be the Twins saviors. The want to trade a whole group of mid 20's prospects that haven't panned out with another group of mid 20's (or older) and are hoping for a different results. What is that called again?🤷♂️- 108 replies

I agree the Twins manager and front office are terrible. As for Martin he isn't a major league starter and in no world be given a job. I am OK with them playing him to see if he can be legit utility player. The Twins are loaded with replacement level or below players and Martin is one of them.- 108 replies

If you say you have depth for starting pitchers in the minors or prospects you likely have none. For the most part this same exact article could have been written prior to the last two years. I mean hasn't it been said Festa, Matthews, SWR, Lewis, Lee, Wallner, Larnach and the Twins amazing prospects were the key to 24 and 25? I mean the Twins got 127 starts last year from Lopez, Ober, Ryan, SWR and Festa. In 23 they got 139 from Lopez, Ober, Ryan Gray and Maeda. They have 113 out of 127 so far Ryan, Ober, Paddack, SWR, Lopez and Festa. Plus remind me again which prospects have turned out for the last three years/ (Keashall so far) If the Twins can run out a few real good players (Lopez, Ryan, Buxton) and bunch of replacement level players and the fans talk about the next year or year after that, ever darn year, and the fans don't hold the team accountable, well that is on us (or really those that live in fantasy land)

I agree Wallner hasn't been good. Maybe he has SDF (standing DIck Face, it is like Standing B!tch face but for the he/him's of the world) but man he hasn't looked like a happy guy for a while. He looks like he is pressing, getting mad upset when he fouls off a ball. Last night they panned to him after Outman's circus act and he looked defeated. (Lewis also looks like he is pressing, he just always seems to display confidence even in the bad times) Maybe Rocco has done this, maybe not. But he needs sit down with Lewis, Lee, Wallner, Keaschall and tell them to work hard and have fun you are main part of the future of this team, you are going to play 90% of time the rest of the season, so quit worring about things and play baseball. Then tell the Martin's, Fitzgerals, Julien's, Larnach, Clemens, Gasper and the rest, you future may or may not be with the twins but play hard when given the chance because you never know who is watching. But instead he keeps jerking around the players like Lee (pinch running), Wallner (defensive replacement) is trying to win yesterday's game (which weird, didn't even happen) more important than building up the players that are going to be needed in the future?

Culpepper is 22 going on 23 (12/29) so no I am not worried about an extra year 6 or 7 years (whatever the heck it is) from now. I am not a fan of Fedko, Sabato or Eeles but I am less of a fan of Clemens, Fitzgerald, Gasper, Julien, Larnach, Martin and Outman. Larnach, Larnach, Keaschall (which meant Martin played 2nd), Larnach, Buxton (which mean Martin played CF), Larnach, Jeffers (which meant Gasper caught), Keaschall (which mean Fitzgerald and Martin played 2nd), Jeffers (which meant Gasper caught), McCusker. That is the last ten days of DH (3-7 record by the way) If you don't think we are already watching minor league players, well I don't what to say. I mean running out the likes of Clemens, Fitzgerald, Gasper, Julien, Martin, Outman and McCuskers is by all accounts the definition of running out minor league players that have no real hope of being anything but a utility player (Martin) or a backup player. Trying out Feko, Sabato or Eeles doesn't change the dynamics of the situation. Bringing up Culpepper isn't a black and white issue of Lee going to the bench. The Twins would have Culpepper, Lee, Lewis, Keaschall to play the infield or DH, those 4 guys could play every day or just about every day. If you add a Fedko or Sabato to the mix at 1B, DH or OF in Fedko's case, still shouldn't take time from the 4 guys either. Sure Culpepper could be overwhelmed but it gives him great experience on what he needs to work on and would give the FO some fore site on roster building over the winter not something I seen this FO has ,so I won't keep my hopes up for it. I personally don't think Fedko, Sabato, Eeles are future starters in the majors but I don't think the guys I mentioned above are either but maybe, just maybe one of them is a later bloomer and has a real future, IMO those chances go down the longer they are in the minors at their ages. Personally I am sick and tired of hearing how great the Twins prospects are and just watching them get older and older while other teams are running out young prospects and having some of them work out and others not but I would rather have that then watching the likes of 25+ years old struggle and be told they are all just bloomers.

Why does it have to be AAA? It could be Culpepper and Fedko played 113.2 innings at first in AA or Sabato who is already 26 (Fedko turns 26 in a month if they don't give him or Sabato a shot soon, why ever bother?)

Don't you know you can't they need more seasoning and what if they lose a year of control. The Twins have to always be preparing for a few years down the road, how else do you continue to sell hope? </s>

Royce is 9/56 in August with a slash of .161/.250/.286/.536 is that not good? That is weird, I keep hearing Clemens should be the first basemen next year and his slash for August is .180/.231/.295/.526. The Twins are loaded with mid to late 20 year old replacement level players. For comparison the Angel have their last 3 first round picks in the majors. Schanuel 23 draft, 23 years old third year in the majors (Career WAR 3.1), Zach Neto 22 draft, 24 years old, third year in the majors (career WAR 11), Christian Moore 24 draft, 22 years old first year in the majors (-.2 WAR) The amazing thing is the Twins picked before the Angels in 22 and 23. Good Times for Twins fans! 😞

Why Twins Fans Should Keep Going to Target Field
TwinsDr2021 replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Its odd? Really, The wolves have been dreadful for how long? Since 04/05 prior to the last two years, they had made the playoffs 3 times and lost in the first round all three times. The Pacers have drafted well and have won 50 and 47 games the last two years, Previously missed the playoffs for 3 years, prior to that lost 5 times in a row in the first round. OKC, prior to the last year, the last 8 years they lost in the first round 4 times, missed the playoffs 3 and lost in the Semis. of the three teams you mentioned there are two themes, drafting well, and the biggest stars of the league got old. (Lebron, Curry, Harden, Durant) Lets see what has happened in the NBA from 1999 - 2011 (Lakers - 7, Spurs - 4, Mavericks - 2, ) from 2012 - 2020 (OKC - 1, Spurs - 2, Warriors - 5, Lakers - 1) from 2021 - 2025 (Suns , Warriors, Nuggets, Mavericks, OKC, Leonard) Not seeing a lot of small market teams there. More revenue sharing and some sort of floor will help, but IMO a salary cap isn't much help when the Front Office is great. The NBA is all about stars and location, the NFL is about a QB and coach and maybe a cap is needed in those two sport just to stop a team that has a Brady or Mahomes from winning all the superbowls?- 69 replies

Why Twins Fans Should Keep Going to Target Field
TwinsDr2021 replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
So if you are paying for a streaming service that doesn't have the twins, are you paying to watch the Twins? or do you have to pay for another streaming service to watch the Twins? I believe that is the point that was being made, they are paying for a streaming service that doesn't have the Twins and isn't going to pay for an extra streaming service. But hey if the Twins get back on Hulu you would have a valid point.- 69 replies

Why Twins Fans Should Keep Going to Target Field
TwinsDr2021 replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
4 players played in more than 160 games and 41 played in 154 or more. What does shorting the season do, a few extra days rest, Lower each players salary by 5%? As for the a salary cap, be careful what you wish for, has that helped small market teams in the NBA or really any team that doesn't draft and develop well in any sport? There are so many details in baseball that would make it hard, does the cap include minor league players? Could the big market teams just pay/spent more for the young guys from other countries. How does paying draft picks effect payroll? so many questions.- 69 replies
