  1. O'Rourke has 18 ks in 30 pa against lefties in Rochester. Certainly worth a look. Let Rogers keep starting.
  2. O'Rourke. Straight LOOGY.
  3. Fear no more, Thompson was just optioned.
  4. O'Rourke's era certainly isn't sexy, but 22 ks in 13.2 ip, including 18 ks in 30 pa by lefties.
  5. I'm pretty apathetic about the All Star game, but that'll inspire me to vote for Dozier.
  6. Just read that Duensing now has 8 straight scoreless ip, 5 k/1 bb. Maybe too early to nail his coffin? Might explain why the Twins stuck by him when he was scuffling so bad. But might be time to option Thompson out and give someone else a crack.
  7. Are you factoring in the multiple playoff starts?
  8. People are going to be really happy when he breaks camp next year as the 5th starter and Berrios is sent back to Rochester.
  9. Listening to the Molitor show, he emphasized that this provides a break for May in regards to innings. I really think there is some merit in that. And he will replace Pelfrey/Milone quick if they (continue to) stumble.
  10. Not sad. I'm very tempted. But I also think he gets traded elsewhere.
  11. Didn't realize his bb rate was so high. Looks like his strand rate is pretty unsustainable and his hr rate is way down too, though his babip is suprisingly high for a Royals pitcher. Maybe his stuff is just down that much and he has been lucky on stranding runners and surrendering fewer bombs. All I could find is he has had 16 inherited runners.
  12. You think Walker gets a Sept callup? Twins don't call up prospects in Sept to sit on the bench and there seems to be way too many corner bats ahead of him in the majors/AAA right now. Barring a couple injuries, Kepler doesn't get a call either.
  13. Just DFA'ed Jason Frasor (with his 1.54 era). Would be the third best reliever on the Twins. I'm sure the Twins claim him, but I assume the Royals can work out a trade so it's moot.
  14. Or more realistically, that Rogers will be a LOOGY in the future and not a starter. I'm not sure the Twins have made that decision (nor should they).
  15. Barring injury I would wait until the all start break and then re-evaluate. Let him have some sustained success. Roll with Sano/Rosario/Hunter/Mauer/Plouffe in the next week.
  16. I would do two good but non-elite prospects (ie Polanco and Kepler) for Lucroy in a heartbeat. Pretty sure the Brewers wouldn't agree. They would need May or Berrios for starters.
  17. But to get that catcher you have to really hamper the future (ie Berrios or May). Tough balance at the moment.
  18. I just don't see the Brewers trading Lucroy for quantity either. Absolutely going to start with Berrios or possibly May, and I don't think that is a smart move for the Twins at this time. Maybe the offseason if they can add another starter through free agency.
  19. It won't. In reality it is pretty much Meyer (or May) at the moment and possibly Berrios/Jay late in the year. They are the only ones that really move the needle. Could make a couple of moves with Rogers or Thielbar as well, but won't move the needle all that much (which of course doesn't mean it is pointless to try).
  20. Agreed. A big move for a catcher or ss is just not a good idea at the time. It might be possible to add a bullpen arm at relatively low cost but even that is uncertain. A reasonable argument can be made that no AL teams should be selling yet, and only a handful of NL teams. Very limited supply certainly drives up prices.
  21. Here is mlbtraderumors on the catching market: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/jonathan-lucroy-catcher-trade-market.html Similar to what we have been saying - LuCroy, Vogt, Norris as clear upgrades. Hedges, Plawecki, Susac as young guys likely not available. And a whole lot of nothing else. Some guys currently having better seasons than Suzuki but no guarantee they will be any better going forward. Just not sure what it would take to get the first three - don't see if happening without Berrios or May.
  22. Because of his background Kepler is my all time favorite Twins prospect. But with that said, he and Polanco are the perfect guys to trade out of their prospects. They have value but uncertain Polanco can stick at SS and you almost never get burned trading corner of/1b (unless they become multi-year all stars). If you can get a controlled c, ss or sp it makes sense. Just don't see Brewers doing this.
  23. I would have said Brewers until you added Duensing.
  24. Very reasonable plan with Rogers. I agree that keeping total innings up is important.
