  1. Sure, but they won't play at this pace all year either. They'll likely end up a 75ish win team. The only way that was going to be different is if the Twins got leaps out of Wallner, Julien, Larnach, Lee, etc. That doesn't appear to be the case, or certainly isn't so far. It's a disaster but the biggest culprits were there to be seen a month ago: shoddy infield defense and a lineup that leaves a lot to be desired.
  2. So far that's fair, but I see a good pitching staff. It's weird 15 games in...but they feel like they're pressing knowing tht more than 2 runs equals a loss.
  3. I mean....I don't know why we aren't drawing that conclusion? Our everyday regulars are not good. Buxton should be a 6 hitter. France, Julien, Miranda, and Bader (some of whom have been ok) should be backups, not regulars. Wallner and Correa are starting slow. No one is hitting the ball for power. Most teams fielding this feeble of a lineup will at least have them be good defenders. Or athletic. These guys are slow, softball types but hit like garbage. The bullpen has had some hilarious collapses to add three losses, but their margin is low because our regulars are just not that talented. I'm glad the pitching looks good, but our offense is equally as feeble as our pitching is formidable.
  4. Welp....guy with a pulse it is.
  5. Drew Lock has always been my favorite of the available options.
  6. I think the Twins are changing this mentality.....but they don't have the personality to stress people on the basepaths. I'll continue to say it: their everyday players don't have an identity. They aren't good at anything with any consistency.
  7. To put it simply: Fans are as invested as ownership.
  8. 100% this. The people who claim this never came anyway. This explains exactly zero of the decline.
  9. That sure feels like the game here. It certainly makes more sense than this half-wits having an actual plan to help the country.
  10. Prior to yesterday Paredes was 0-1, Alvarez 0-2, and Walker had never faced Jax. Alvarez was 0-4 and Paredes 0-2 against Duran. So, yeah, I'm not sure what the impetus for that decision was. It would seem that keeping them in their natural roles would've been supported by the data as well.
  11. The manager discussion on this site is not worth having. It might be worth having on a larger scale and I respect how people ultimately feel on the issue. I think MLB managers are mostly irrelevant and I don't see Baldelli as even 20% of the issue. Others feel different....fine. As the last season or so has indicated, rationality has left that conversation here at TD. I don't see why anyone continues to grouse or pick a fight that no one wants to have in any kind of an interesting, insightful, or conversational way. Let that horse die. However, I don't know how anyone - feelings on Rocco aside - can look at the available guys we have to play in the field every day and think we have a chance. This is simply not a contending group of position players. They don't hit well enough to offset their mediocre defense and plodding foot speed. They don't do anything particularly well with any consistency. Who's to blame? I think the FO definitely has some blame there considering the degree to which they've failed to develop well-rounded guys. Draft picks haven't resulted in dynamic players. But.....man, it's hard to do anything other than put this on ownership. They squeezed the payroll to Ty France levels and we're getting what we paid for. Until they go, my optimism is just sapped.
  12. I wish I could give this ten upvotes.
  13. I always thought Jason Kubel had it right with "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys. "List of Demands" by Saul Williams would be good too.
  14. Just wait until the Falklands rise up again in their tariff-free utopia.....
  15. Sure, but the metrics back the eye test. Miranda is swinging at garbage and rarely making hard contact. I defer to playing young guys, but Miranda is stretching that instinct right now.
  16. At this point.....is it really a bad call to bury Miranda? I'm usually someone that wants to invest in young players but right now he's.......not good. At much of anything.
  17. Could you imagine what right-wing talk radio would sound like the last three weeks if anyone else was overseeing this kind of mess? Woof. Also....google the way in which these tariffs were calculated under the guise of "reciprocal". It's almost too dumb to believe.
  18. I like the thinking, but Metellus and Jackson might not be a bad combo to rely on either. I'm still most in favor of trading down if possible. My second choice is get one of these stud DTs.
  19. I see a lot of effort to draw conclusions from 6 games, but even if you think you're seeing trends....those might only be the case because Lewis and Lee are hurt. (And Julien was sick) For instance...if Julien was full strength is one of the LF starts going to Castro instead of Bader? Even today, how would the lineup change if those two guys were available? It seems like the first two choices to replace them in the lineup are Julien and Bader over Miranda and whatever other stiff on the bench. I can't say I disagree at all with that.
  20. It sounds weird, but they almost pulled it off too well. Though if the runner going from 1st ws supposed to be bait, the timing wasn't great
  21. I mean...I don't know what else you want there. Wallner got to stay in against the lefty. They waited until there was two strikes and Julien definitely had the element of surprise. They forced them to balk but the umps were as shocked as the Sox and didn't make the right call. More of that. All of it.
  22. The story of Born Again is very heavily rooted in the original show. I think you'd be ok without watching it, but truth be told - it's well worth the watch. First season of Jessica Jones as well. It's simply good TV. (For the most part, half of DD season 2 was pretty mid)
  23. I know this article is a bit old now, but Gleeman had some good information over at The Athletic. Basically....from what Forbes can estimate, there is no way the team has $425 million in debt unless it was accrued almost entirely in the span from 2020-2022 or it simply isn't baseball debt. I know which one my money is on.
