  1. That filler is still important to your overall development process. The money to feed them and house them decently is pennies in the grand budgeting scheme.
  2. Stinks for Kennys, hopefully he still lands somewhere he can get regular ABs.
  3. Are there any guys out there that could operate as a corner OF and infield? I guess I'd like another guy around with Sano's lingering issues. Or can Aybar go to AAA as that insurance?
  4. We are dual income but two children is enough in this economy to force one person to stay home, which then causes strain on the single income. So many families are strapped with this and that's the good scenario. For lower incomes, as many minority families are stuck, are basically forced into poverty to have a family. Couple that with low wages, high student loans, and high medical costs and its no wonder our economy is one issue from collapse all the time. So many families are one bad event (medical, car wreck, unplanned family change, AC/furnace break, etc) from collapse themselves. And for black kids, their outlook is bleak from the get go.
  5. Parenting is also much different (harder) because we are now largely two income households where both adults work too much.
  6. Good point, you would think with the amount of value otherwise placed on these players by the organization that they would want to provide basic needs to the players. Giving them 15 bucks assures they eat off the dollar menu rather than a good meal. It’d take such a paltry investment and it would be an investment in the health and wellness of real people who are assets to your organization. People whose health and wellness is directly tied to their value to you. I.....just....don’t....get it.
  7. Thanks for the post lefty. $3 an hour enshrined in law. That's the issue here. And it is beyond reprehensible.
  8. Cant we blame the union for exploiting minor leaguers for leverage and be even more upset the league is using lobbying in Congress to further cement them into miniscule pay and benefits? I dont like either side on this, but trying to slip this into law is cartoonishly dastardly. Montgomery Burns would think this is shameful.
  9. I hope Garver gets about 100 starts this year. I'd like to see the kid play a lot.
  10. I would like an insurance policy for reading this thread please.
  11. And here I thought the state of pay for minor leaguers couldnt get any worse. MLB has done plenty to annoy me, but this may kill all the doe-eyed love for it I have left.
  12. Hard to put a positive spin on Erick Aybar being made into a necessary bench piece. This just stinks.
  13. That Lance Lynn move looks better by the day. (Especially every day we watch Hughes though)
  14. 8M for him is a steal. Still plenty of money for Mathieu or Pugh too
  15. I will root for fans and minor league players in this labor war. And I will root against both of these two sides until one of them decides to stick up for either the fans or the minor league players. Until then I look at both sides as the villains here.
  16. Dems eat their own at the ballot box wheras GOPers wait until they are in office. Might partially explain the imbalance of GOP control at so many levels.
  17. What is disingenuous is believing you know anything about his fitness level. You were among those quick to jump on him based on rumors. Rumors that photographs quickly squashed, yet the crowing about his weight continues.
  18. Fox News was spinning him as a conservative calling himself a democrat. Which I guess is a good thing until they get into office? (Then death to rhinos I am told) The point here is to win elections. Blue dog Democrat >>>>>>> Avian Flu/Tony Batista/Trumpy Tea Party Guy.
  19. Last night's Dem win is a perfect case study in all of this. Many Trump labor voters will turn on him for the corporate handout. (Aka tax cur) Many of his voters are also still single issue voters on health care. So run a smart candidate to win that district not to check boxes on how left vs. Right you are. Thats how Republicans think, best way to beat them is to keep running sharp candidates that will represent their constituency.
  20. No, but he can be adequate like last year and thats just fine. Yes it is. Our FO seems to agree since they just gave a 1B/DH a two year deal. Thats rather damning to your implied demise of Sano at 3B. As for your weight questions, I dont have intimate knowledge of Sano's health data to assess what he "should" weigh. Any bold assertions to the contrary require a hefty amount of layman medical hubris. I hope he is healthy and focused on being a force. I hope the organization is holding him to account on that. Im happy to see the organization remaining comitted to him at third. And I hope he kicks some serious butt this year.
  21. The right started and owns most of the negative polarization for sure. But it worries me what the left is doing to escalate in that direction. I hope 2018's midterms show my fears to be misguided.
