  1. Good. I think Cobb has more upside, but either of them is vastly superior to pitching Slegers or relying on Hughes.
  2. That's unfortunate, we don't have anything to show from all those hard throwing relievers we used to love.
  3. Your last few sentences contain much truth sir. But speaking them will do no good.
  4. Fine, no one has said those exact words, but what else are we supposed to glean about Sano from these 11 pages? What is the main idea of this little conversation? It sure seems to be - Miguel Sano is lazy. Miguel Sano doesn't care. Miguel Sano is selfish. We make assumption about his habits based on next to nothing. And, even worse, the frequency with which these attacks happen sure doesn't make me feel like putting a positive spin on the attacks. Eventually, you're attacking the person and not the habits. And we simply don't know enough about his habits to start getting personal. And, as i said before, it sure didn't take much to launch this 11 page thread. That's not a ringing endorsement for how people are going about this.
  5. Because I don't know if he's not putting his best foot forward. I don't know if he's trying and failing, not trying, or trying and succeeding just fine. I know very little about that, as I suspect is the same for you. I refuse to crucify the guy for something that, at best, gets whispered vaguely to the beat writers. Hell, it didn't take more than one odd picture for people to declare him an obese 290 pound slob. It seems to me that people are looking to declare him lazy and any nugget they can use is happily accepted. I prefer not to indulge in that. I hope the Twins are being serious with him about conditioning and I hope Miguel is taking it seriously as well.
  6. They won't deal Bradley, but I'd love it if they did. But a bullpen arm for a starter might be a trade fit with that team.
  7. I'm going to say this as delicately as I can: If we want to play the "read between the lines" game, this thread might lead us to some awful dark conclusions about some of our posters. I'd caution how much you want to do that sort of thing. You don't know Miguel Sano and you don't know the way in with Paul Molitor meant that. Trying to turn it into another bit of evidence that Sano is a terrible, lazy, waste of a human being seems really unnecessary.
  8. Dana Loesch is just as scary as Alex Jones. Maybe more so.
  9. I just love how I have to pay out of my own pocket to give my students things like pencils, but they think it's totally workable to arm and train every teacher. There is no other word than lunacy for all of it. They've abandoned all principles and judgment and embraced full on crazy. And I say that, knowingly including people I love and care about....but there are no other adequate words to describe what they embrace.
  10. From my understanding down here, they view Corbin ahead of Godley, but I could be wrong about that.
  11. I see the reasoning on his end, but we could've given him regular at-bats without much issue. But coming back to Minnesota may have been tough on him too. He also has an unfair rep attached to him about being a bad sport.
  12. The response to gun owners is finally starting to catch up in ferocity to the degree that gun owners speak about guns.
  13. No one is talking about BP because he's mashing. BP has come up because there is video of him doing it where he looks to be in about the same shape he was in last year. That fact flies in the face of what some have suggested here that he ballooned to the point of never being able to play third base again. The video refutes a lot of characterizations of his conditioning and reinforces what some first hand observers noted. It has nothing to do with how he is "mashing".
  14. 4M? Wow, I'd have happily done that as a fourth OF and DH option.
  15. This is fine. I also hope he takes the fitness advice from the Twins seriously, I just won't get caught up in hyperbole about his weight like much of this thread devolved into.
  16. Miguel Sano is accused of doing something he should be ashamed of and criticized for. Why the hell do we have to have a bi-monthly rip fest about his weight? What makes people want to conjure up those criticisms with little or no evidence to back them up? The BP video is up-thread, I'd like to hear someone tell me with a straight face that he looks like the bloated 290 pounder that some in this thread were accusing him of being.
  17. Here is an example. I'm just not seeing anything there to panic over.
  18. Well that's good, but it wasn't Congress. They let that issue die down as soon as they could. My point was more that as soon as the clamor dies down, they slink back to the NRA and forget what they promised to talk about.
  19. I'm making no other argument than this: We don't know what a healthy weight is for Sano. We've seen him badgered for 280, 290, 260, and many other numbers in between. I'm all for imploring the guy to be physically ready to play. I'm not for attacking him with arguments that amount to "He weighs more than 240, he must be lazy"
  20. Does Sano have to be "lean" in order for you to be happy? Because, if so, I'd wonder about why half of our 25 man roster doesn't have a similar thread as this one.
  21. They aren't silent in their circles. They're offering money to schools to train and arm personnel. I remain pessimistic anything gets done. Everyone talks a tough game while the passions are enflamed, but then legislation gets dragged through the mud until it slowly dies away. Think bump stocks and all the agreement we heard over that. Where'd it go? Nowhere. Maybe (I hope) I'm wrong and this becomes a major election issue. But that may not necessarily be a good thing either. Plenty of gun nuts posting memes about their shotgun sitting peacefully on a porch not killing anyone and teachers drawing handguns in front of their kids. Those people vote too. And, generally speaking, they're better at organizing.
  22. So 5 pages of assuming what a healthy weight is by the number of pounds? Dwayne Johnson weighs 280. What a fat guy. Maybe we should just try saying Miguel is "out of shape" and concentrate on that. As soon as you start tossing numbers around about what a guy should or should not weigh and be healthy...you lost me. That's being obtuse. The Twins medical staff can discern that from more personal testing, you calculating it based on his height is nonsense.
  23. Just take the emphasis on the number associated with his weight. Miguel Sano will always have a "heavy" number. Focus on being in shape, healthy all year, and contributing. If his weight interferes with those we should be concerned, but not with whatever number he may be at.
  24. Gardy's head may explode trying to figure out that one.
  25. I'm moving this tangent away from the fangraphs thread. Just because nothing is on the books doesn't mean the current FO isn't planning for spending there (extensions). And despite you calling it 7 different forms of "irrational", I think we know for near fact that this FO is not spending to the limit that the ownership has allowed for them. How you ask? Well, if reports are true that we offered Darvish 5 years and 110M, that is a 22M allotment they were clearly allowed by ownership. Since then we have traded for Odorizzi and signed Sanchez. At minimum that is a 7M commitment and at most it is 13M. By my math that means they have anywhere between 9 and 15M they are choosing not to spend that ownership has green lit them for. If 9M they could've signed Dyson has a right-handed bench bat or some other arm. 14M is probably enough to get Cobb or Lynn. But yet, by all accounts, the team is done adding players. So, contrary to your assertion, I think we know with reasonable certainty that they are in fact choosing to keep payroll lower than ownership would allow. And I'm sure ownership loves that. And, I agree that it leaves wins on the table right now. It's why I'm upset we appear to be done. We shouldn't be done, we clearly have more money we could be spending that could help here and now.
