    I think you missed the important part after "good process" (which you are correct about) - they also need the investments to mine it, communicate it, and analyze it. The point is that their investments - in many quantifiable ways including manpower - supersedes ours. With their success also superseding ours....I hope the Twins are doing a lot of introspection on where they are falling short. (Including especially process)

    No, our speculation is not the same. I don't know what they're doing differently beyond investing more man-power into it. I do know that these guys have the best track record AND the most robust departments. Could that simply be a correlation and not a causation? Maybe. But it's a differential I'd start with analyzing as an organization. Since you seem to know how they're using it differently, please write an extensive blog post about it. I'd enjoy reading that. Twins probably would to.

    You're trying to put pieces together about information we simply don't have about process or what these departments are doing. What can be said with certainty is that both of these teams (Rays and Brews) are putting more man-power to it than we are and their track records speak for themselves.

    It feels unfair to pick one. Apologies if I missed him being mentioned but Justin Topa pitched for us in 23 games which is approximately 23 more times than ever should have happened. And almost exclusively in high leverage situations.

    I think this was a really interesting article. How did some of you arrive at such silly responses as "quality over quantity" and "an out is an out". Like....the two teams in the World Series, who have been consistent winners for the better part of a decade now, are clearly investing in something the Twins are not. Why are we not open to taking notes on that? Is it really a surprise that they keep mining aces out of the 2nd round, turning Trevor Megills into lights out closers, get Yandy Diaz for scraps, or snag Junior Camerino for a reliever? Part of how they keep making so much out of so little is what was discussed in this article. Put down the cloud yelling for a second and consider the world might be different.

    Yup and Taylor is a good pass receiver too. The key to this team being a true Super Bowl contender is getting in range for Big Leg Bill to drill deep 3s and turning every possible red zone opportunity into 7s. Taylor is going to really help both of those things. Stacked boxes inside the 10 is the best thing JJ could ask for.

    If it's only a 2nd for Taylor I'm kicking down doors to make that trade. That is "win the Super Bowl" kind of impact.

    There is a part of me that is letting myself dream about JT. 1st rounder next year? Done.

    The guy hit in the minors, there is no doubt he has some skill. I don't know what a one year rental of Joe Ryan has for value but Shaw and two prospects doesn't seem far off to me. I'd probably, strongly, consider that. The biggest question I have is with 3B being his primary defensive position in the minors, what does he look like at 2B where the games played is a much smaller sample.

    After a tough start he pretty much spent the rest of the year destroying the ball. He ain't going anywhere. And yeah...that should've been a target the Twins pursued last year.

    I like Shaw as a target....I'm just not sure what we have to give up that the Cubs would want. It'd probably be a Lopez for Shaw type of deal.

    Would've preferred the Colts limped out a win in that one before we face them. People are playing and coaching for jobs in desperation mode now.

    Did the guy who managed the 2025 champions forget how to manage or something? Is that the argument? It seems to me that what Cleveland, Tampa, and Milwaukee all have in common is emphasizing a few things in play development that never slump and can be counted in in both small and large samples: Great defense and a lot of athleticism all over the field and consistent pitching philosophies during their development that carryover to the big leagues.

    That would be kinda crazy and hilarious. Zoll: "Buying at the deadline would be unwise" Pohlad" "Do it!!!!!!!!" Zoll: "K" Then he goes out and does it with at minimal an impact as possible to what he thinks is actually a good plan.

    Yeah, I keep reading people blaming Zoll and placing the failures at his feet, but the Occam's Razor analysis of the season's decision making all seems to come back to ownership: *Zoll wasn't given the full reigns of the organization's baseball decisions until well past the point he could've improved the club in any meaningful way. That timing seems to stem from some sort of strategic disagreement between Falvey and the Pohlads. *Tom told everyone he could, including random fans with cash they couldn't spend at his ballpark, that he wanted to invest in the team and the fanbase. *He openly pushed the team as buyers at the deadline. We didn't hear much from Zoll, but the guy who cuts his checks made it pretty clear what direction they were going. *His deadline moves clearly failed....but was there anything he could've actually done that wouldn't have failed? I don't know, but I struggle to judge him when it seems like he was just a minion to the much larger problem. I guess the minion gets an F, but he's not the villain here.

    I just said that last part (not the old part, that's on you) about the OT period to my wife last night. There's no reason for it not to be 15 minutes and you can see how coaches are abusing that shorter time frame to eliminate the idea of both teams getting a possession.

    Last year in May John Oliver did a segment on minor league baseball promotions that was truly excellent. He talked about the Trash Pandas, made his own team named the Moon Mammoths, and even got a fun response out of the St. Paul Saints. Unfortunately I can't find a good link to that on youtube, but it aired May 4th of 2025 and is absolutely worth finding if this sort of quirky element of baseball amuses you.
