  1. I generally hate all offseasons because it seems like the same 4 or 5 teams improve themselves every season while the others sign retreads and trade away their stars. That isn't interesting to me.
  2. My finest moment as a human being was going to Yankee Stadium to watch a couple losses and a five year old kid telling me, "The Twins suck." And I replied (12-ish beers in), "**** you! I've seen more Twins championships in my lifetime than you've seen Yankees championships!"
  3. So a guy who will be 27 on opening day and has been awful above Class A ball is your pick? Maybe he was brought in for veteran presence.
  4. My God, this organization is worse than the Cleveland Browns.
  5. Again, I can't comprehend the mentality of some people. We don't have any pitching, yet no pitcher on the market is good enough for this team. It's unreal.
  6. The only concerning part is if you believe it takes two years to recover from TJS (one rehab, one to figure out pitching again). The money is minimal so hopefully he can be effective in Year 2.
  7. He has coined a bunch of phrases and has some memorable calls which helps, I think.
  8. Unfortunately for broadcasters there is no statistic that shows their worth. What do they have to go off of other than longevity?
  9. Well there is no pitching so I'd say 75:1 is quite optimistic at this point in time.
  10. They would have been much different. The Yankees would have got him too for the same deal.
  11. My buddy just mentioned this- so they basically voided Marte's contract to spend money on marginal prospects?
  12. I assume Dan Johnson is still available.
  13. Looks very similar to this season in that I have faith in two of them to be quality MLB pitchers.
  14. Good? Doubtful. Typical? Yes.
  15. Nice work, Stew!
  16. My favorite pitcher of the past 15 years. No off-field drama and seemed like a class act on and off the field.
  17. 4/48 in 2017 is not the same as 4/48 in 2013 and it won't be the same in 2020.
  18. It's also doubled if MLB allowed errors to be charged.
  19. I switched over to MLBN last night during the game and watched Baseball Seasons 1997 for the 100th time, which caused me to do a little research on the playoff series. Florida got complete game wins from Livan (143 pitches) and Kevin Brown (140 pitches) in back to back games to close out the Braves. Livan followed that up with 142 more in the World Series against Cleveland over eight innings. Also, Smoltz had a 127 pitch six inning effort earlier in the series. I wonder if I'll ever see a 140 pitch game in my lifetime again.
  20. This is the first World Series since I turned eight that I can not sit through. GET AN OUT PLEASE.
  21. This is stupid. At the time of that tweet Verlander had an ERA of 5.82 in the 2006 postseason and 5.31 in 2011.
  22. I do not understand any of the excitement over this guy. People said signing Lynn would be Nolasco 2.0. THIS is Nolasco 2.0. At least Lynn has been successful in his career. Chatwood just screams Twins pitcher. Approximately a hit per inning, one homerun per 9,1.40+ WHIP, FIP around 4.50 and never pitched enough innings to qualify for an ERA title (not that he would ever sniff one). Sounds like Dillon Gee to me.
