  1. Bud and the boys had it right. Contraction is the better option. Too many watered down teams and pitching staffs makes for mostly unwatchable baseball.
  2. We have Castro, the greatest pitch framer of them all. If he doesn't turn Lynn into Nolan Ryan then society will crumble.
  3. I love this world where no FA is good enough to help this team but the pitching has been awful for ten years. There should be no reason for our goal to be to have Gibson or Mejia in the rotation next year. That leaves us a declining Erv and an improving Berrios and an unusable bullpen.
  4. Game times were half as long 100 years ago when most players were liquored up. That's my solution.
  5. Baseball in 2017 is truly not the game I fell in love with. Can't wait for next year when the starting pitcher throws one pitch and in comes reliever number 1 of 12.
  6. I would like to see what he could do with actual pitchers. You can't judge a guy based off how this pitching staff does. Was he no longer considered instrumental in the development of the Rays pitchers? I thought that pedigree was why he was hired in the first place.
  7. For some reason Dusty felt the need to bring in a guy with a 5.88 ERA in Scherzer's spot after he gave up his first hit in the seventh inning with under 100 pitches. Now, the Cubs have tied the game (only after Maddon took out Quintana with his zero earned runs) and are threatening against Solis and now Kintzler. I think you would probably get better results if you just had an untrained chimp pick a lineup and starting pitcher and not make a single move the entire game.
  8. This is as uninspiring as the hiring in the first place.
  9. Don't show this to Twins. They'll just bring Perkins and Capps back for 15 mil each.
  10. I thought we probably could have gotten Blevins for virtually nothing but we'll never know.
  11. After mulling this over for a few hours, I have come to the conclusion that I really don't like change and needless change at that. I understand MLB wants to add a bigger pay day and keep the casual fans watching deeper into the season, but I don't see that need for adding a lesser team and then drumming up a one game winner take all game between teams that are not equals just for a money grab. If I were the Yankees I'd be pissed at having to put my season on the line to play one game to advance. I've accepted it will never change and will probably add more teams in the near future but that doesn't mean I have to like it. If the Twins were not playing in this game I wouldn't be watching the Angels vs Yankees.
  12. The quicker Santana is pulled from the game the less likely we are to win anyway. He has to go seven at minimum for us to even have a chance, imo. There are seven guys in that bullpen that I really hope do not pitch. I am also going to state that if Molitor tries to match up and takes Erv out with under 110 pitches and less than three runs allowed I am going to just blow a gasket.
  13. I wish he would have won a ring with the Twins instead of the Cardinals too.
  14. I still hate the 2nd wild card (let alone the first wild card).
  15. One of the things I do after every season is plug in the final standings using divison settings from the pre-wildcard era divisions to see if pennant races were hurt or helped by the wildcard. Since the new format came along the Twins would have won the AL West four times (2004 in a play-in game vs Anaheim), 2006, 2010.... and this season (note: Houston still plays in the NL West). We would be set to square off against Cleveland in the ALCS.
  16. Please replace Laudner.
  17. He certainly gave the fans something to rally behind. The excitement in Target Field for his starts was beyond anything this organization has seen since Johan's prime.
  18. I thought Mauer might get out-homered by Bumgarner coming into the season, but he he was equaled by another pitcher!
  19. I feel bad that you are not able to watch Laudner declare that Castro should be honorable mention Gold Glove because he has been very good defensively.
  20. I know Gimenez just homered but if the goal is to get Sano as many ABs as possible what is the point of taking him out?
  21. Molitor, if you pull this **** in NY I am going to be pissed.
  22. I mean if Boshers is pitching to anyone against New York we are already in trouble. He doesn't need extra work.
  23. If Goodrum hits ten today we also have ten.
