  1. The fun thing was I immediately looked at the grand kid's reaction. They just glanced at each other and shook their heads.
  2. "Elsie, you've been a Twins fan for a long time. How long?" "Twelve years." Dead silence.
  3. "A hit to the outfield should score a couple." I'm not even sure that would score Mauer at this point.
  4. Laudner may say the dumbest things ever. Altuve is the MVP because he has been around longer than Judge? WTF kind of reasoning is that? Bartolo is easily his Cy Young with that logic.
  5. Assuming today's game isn't the second coming of Game 7 (and if Bartolo hurls ten shutout innings, oh boy) what has been the best or most memorable game of the 2017 regular season? The back-to-back walkoffs and the Dozier home run in Cleveland were great but I think the best and most exciting game may have been a game we lost. It was the day after the Twins scored 17 against KC when the blown call on the check swing cost the Twins the game and Cain proceeded to hit a lead taking triple.
  6. They should be running all over Romine.
  7. This time of the season is always bittersweet as it means seeing guys play their final games. Today it was Matt Cain (who is amazingly only 32 years old) and it was a fitting end for his career as he tossed five shutout innings but didn't get the win. That seemed to happen to him more than any pitcher I've seen.
  8. That was one of the better in-game interviews in awhile.
  9. I have been very disappointed in all facets of Castro's game this season. His defense has not been good.
  10. You heard wrong. He was trying to impress Gorg.
  11. For some reason I pictured you flipping over a table will all sorts of expensive china while having your outburst.
  12. If they really wanted to make things interesting they'd take Farmer out after four with the lead, let Romine pitch the fifth, play his other positions, and then close it out in the ninth.
  13. Dick continues to rip on Romine playing all nine positions today (presumably), saying it's a footnote. How many times has he raved about Tovar doing the same thing?
  14. I think that would encourage teams to add another pitcher instead of a position player, which to me is ridiculous because there are at least a four guys on virtually every staff that have no reason to sniff the big leagues but still get their 50 innings in. At some point they are just going to have to go back to allowing starters to pitch deeper into games or else we'll get to the point where some team needs any one of us to suit up as that 15th pitcher.
  15. Another factor is the 13 and sometimes 14 man pitching staff, which dramatically cuts down on the number of position players even able to be on this team.
  16. With Slegers and Colon rounding out the season they will all likely pitch every game.
  17. I like how Dick had to explain why they needed ten pitchers to match up with the Yankees. Why? I would rather have Erv pitching to anyone than any one of our relievers.
  18. Santana and Berrios are obvious and the Twins could survive with one of Mejia or Gibson (but preferably not as the number 3). Outside of Busenitz and Hildenberger who do you really want to keep from the bullpen? Belisle is ok, but should not be anywhere near the 9th inning. Rogers, Duffey, Boshers, Perkins, Curtiss, Moya, Turley, whoever else I am forgetting are not good.
  19. To be a real contender they need to improve at least seven of their bullpen arms and two of their starters.
  20. The kid was a pitcher. We'll soon now if he starts going to his face every other second.
  21. Mauer has now failed to scoop three throws and catch a line drive in the last game and a half.
