  1. I doubt Mauer will be able to stay healthy anyway so his slash line is irrelevant.
  2. Why? If they can assess our roster in that time frame I can assess our manager in the exact same time frame. I don't believe for a second that Ryan would ever go against his comfort zone and bring in a new voice. I think Molitor is a different voice, but not a new one. I just want the "Twins way" mantra to disappear forever.
  3. It's around 12 because we are opening up with guys like Milone and will likely give spot starts to Pelfrey and Darnell. We could cut that number down to (gasp) 8 or 9 if we'd just start with May and/or Meyer and not have to deal with Pelfrey and Milone at all.
  4. I didn't. It's the reason he was given the job in the first place.
  5. Terry Ryan continues to make roster moves in the exact opposite way that makes sense for a team in this position.
  6. Twins could shorten their game times by getting people out and not making five pitching changes per game to do so.
  7. Another Manfred gem: http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/01/25/rob-manfred-new-major-league-baseball-commissioner-suggests-ban-on-defensive-shifts/?ocid=Yahoo&partner=ya5nbcs
  8. The innings pitched incentives should have been set at 209.2.
  9. Agreed, now let's go get 1999 Pedro Martinez, 2001 Barry Bonds, and 2003 Eric Gagne.
  10. If Mientkiewicz becomes manager, do we have a replay of last season with aging ex-Twins coming in? I'm sure Dougie would like to bring in his boys Torii, A.J., and LaTroy. Although to be fair they would almost assuredly be better than Bartlett, Kubel, and Guerrier.
  11. Why would a manager put butts in the seat anyway? I didn't go to Twins games to watch Gardy eat sunflower seeds.
  12. It is my opinion, and there is probably nothing that will ever change it, that Ryan left after 2007 because he didn't want to be known as the guy that traded Santana, didn't resign Hunter, and couldn't bring himself to give Mauer a huge contract. I think he left Smith in a horrible position when he took over. And then after the disastrous 2011 season, Ryan comes riding in on his white horse to "clean up" the mess that he partially created.
  13. It didn't turn out the way we'd like but I'd also add the game in 2008 where Casilla walked off Jenks after Span's ear-splitting triple to score Gomez.
  14. To me Gardenhire's worst move was taking Santana out in Game 4 with a low pitch count after five innings. A close second is his over-managing with his bullpen. There is never a need to burn four relievers in an inning. Honestly, I thought he got progressively worse (or perhaps just let everyone pass him up). In 2002 he made the right moves in leading off Jones and naming Guardado closer. The reluctance to use Santana in the rotation was baffling. Bringing Brian Bass into the eight inning of a tie game is beyond stupid. Batting Brendan Harris second on a consistent basis is awful. Having Guerrier face A-rod countless times despite complete ownage is ridiculous. I can't even really comment on the last four years as there was really nothing he could do with this lineup.
  15. 1. Better rotation 2. Better bullpen 3. Better lineup 4. Better manager 5. Better GM Easy.
  16. Does this take into effect players selected for all-star games that did not participate (such as any pitcher that pitches on Sunday)? Injury replacements? How did you factor in increased all-star game rosters?
  17. Pierzynski a great teammate? Imagine that. I will always remember Allen stealing second base off Doug Jones as Jones was just wandering around near the mound. He was a fun player to watch.
