    For no reason I counted the number of 3 up 3 down innings the offense has had since the Allstar break. The number is 12 in 5+ games. I have no context for that other than the approach is better.

    While I generally agree with this as a concept, achieving it is a whole other pickle. The Braves are the outlier, not the norm. Every manager would like an auto lineup with 2 emergency guys on the bench. It just isn't common and I believe they would love that situation. We may be in that position in a year or two and Rocco will manage differently. I would also argue the Castro role is just as valuable if you have that kind of roster as well. One guy that can pop in and not move others around is very useful. Flexibility is king. Of 4 bench spots 1 is a catcher so how else would you construct the bench? A RF DH type doesn't fit. Modern rosters will most likely have this type. If I was Gordon's agent I would be trying to get him to embrace it as the best way to maximize his value. He has to play on the dirt too.

    It's what happens when the super utility player has to play everyday. The beauty of the player type is that they can be inserted in all kinds of advantageous spots and be successful. That's also a pretty damn good OPS+ for a player in that position. The super utility role on this roster is certainly here to stay. Gordon isn't a super utility player anymore, he's just another LH outfielder that can play 2B in an emergency. Having Castro to compare with shows how limited Gordon really is. Gordon getting injured was one of the best things that could have happened roster wise for the Twins. I feel for him but he's going to have decent career as a full time ML player with the As or Royals. He's no longer a fit here. I think Castro is locked into this roster for the year. As guys get healthy he gets more valuable. I would do everything I could not to use his option so it was still available next year.

    This feels like a year to tidy up around the edges and try to get hot. I'd move Kepler and Gallo for the best rental relievers I could find and roll with Larnach, Wallner and some RH outfield type with options. When does Helman come back? Member him? Maybe Ryan Lamarre can flash for a few weeks. I wouldn't mind a Lane Thomas but he's probably expensive. I wouldn't go crazy on the open market for the RH OF. Gordon coming back will be a complication soon too. My thought is that with Stewart and Thielbar coming back just stock the bullpen as best we can and try to pitch our way through. Lean into the strength and the offense will have to come around. I like that the roster is solid top to bottom but the stars will have to star to make any noise in the postseason.

    He should go 100 times out of 100, he was being waved emphatically. I can't give him 100% scoring with his sure footedness lately.

    Don't look now but our Twins have scored runs in 18 of 40 innings since the all star break. I can also remember several threats that came up empty. It's way more fun this way.

    Me either. Its a good thing when the guys we send away are successful. Makes folks want to shop at our store. Bit more practice and a new trainer to look at incoming medicals and poof, on our way.

    This part is really surprising to me. If they have always loved toolsy high school outfielders one would think they would love toolsy shortstop types that eventually filter to the outfield. Not just this FO but going back 20 years and not limited to the first round either. It may be changing recently with the CES, Ross, Schoebel, Keashall types. I would personally be stocking my system with those types, then sort them out and try to keep the good ones. Trade the ones that flash and hope you can scout your own. The org is changing from a draft and develop to an asset management org and we will not likely see 20 years of the 1st round at any position again. Gutting the 2021 draft in trades is a whole new Twins Territory.

    Because they don’t figure pull, middle, oppo direction into the expected stats. It’s a basic feeder stat with a gigantic hole in it. They track hit direction, so the info is there but don’t use it where it would make sense. That’s a 1.000 BA to the pull field, 0.100 or less to center. It matters. I love analytics as much as anyone but tighten it up. Unless someone knows why they wouldn’t use that info.

    They certainly did and it would also make sense that they go last. Their numbers are penciled in while they sort the lower picks.

    You should hear my Astros buddy talk about Jose Abrue. Also, the California Tankers has a nice ring to it.

    They better. Not saying it has to happen but they for sure need to be thinking about things like that where you could get a free 1st rounder. That new program completely changes prospect speed.
