  1. Quick: In what round did the Marlins draft J.T. Realmuto?
  2. You got to trade from excess not shortage. At this point the Twins have nobody with top of the rotation staff, other than maybe Graterol. Romero will likely be better than Berrios. You can just not give them away. Frankly, I'd start the conversation with the consensus former number 1 prospect in baseball. The Twins can use Realmuto more than Buxton (who is under 3+ years of team control) right now. If that's not enough, I'd add one of the LF hitting OFs in the minors (Wade, Kirilloff) and maybe even some with mid-end rotation ceiling like Gonsalves or Littell, and I'd try to pry a bullpen piece from them as well like Barraclough who is about to get very expensive.
  3. If your recent second round draft pick is 18th in your system, your system is either crazy loaded, or he is underrated, or he is a bad pick. I think that Jeffers is underrated. He smashed the ball in College and did not miss a beatt moving to the wood in E-town this season.
  4. Most players cannot hit decent breaking balls. They learn to lay off them. Instead of flailing. That's the key. Hit fastballs and changeups and mistakes. That's why elite hitters get one hit per 3 at bats...
  5. Can they claim Bobby W. now?
  6. Sano at 3B, Gordon and/or Arraez at 2B (instead of Dozier)
  7. I do not see how the Twins need to not trade Escobar, in order to sign him as a free agent for 2019+. The 2 things are not mutually exclusive. This way the Twins get something for Escobar's services in 2018 (something that they do not need and can use to audition prospects) plus can sign him for the future.
  8. The same Sixto Sanchez who is on the DL with elbow inflammation?
  9. Berrios, Gibson, Hildenberger, Pressly, Slegers. Matter of fact from the 2017 Twins' pitchers, only Rogers is having a worse 2018.
  10. He was cut from the Skeeters after two games. Skeeters' roster here. He was cut from the Baby Cakes after 4 games in April earlier.
  11. And pay $17 million in 2019 for the ghost of Dozier's past? No.Thank.You.
  12. This happens every day in the world. Unfortunately most of the people who have to leave their families to get a job to make ends meet do not even make 1/100th of the MLB minimum wage....
  13. The Mauer situation is more complicated than one may think, as far as 2018 goes: a. He has a full no trade clause, so if he does not want to, he can refuse to be traded b. He expects his third child in November, which might make the option of playing for a post-season team a bit less attractive to him. As far as 2019 goes, it is too early to tell at this point.
  14. He does not have to be. The point is that the Twins are not going anywhere so there is no down side of playing the kids to see who cuts it and who does not.
  15. For second positive drug of abuse test. Details here.
  16. If there are just rumors, then the might be passive, but not active sellers... Re: Rodney (and other trades.) The Twins are close to being competitive and really cannot afford to trade for prospects 2-3 years away. Their bullpen is a huge need at this point, and they should try to get someone who is close this season and caught up into the numbers. The Red Sox have plenty of these types, with Ty Battrey, likely the most prominent. If they can get him for Rodney, he will be the Twins' closer for a while...
  17. There is one last thing that Flavine need to do: Finalize the clean up in the FO and get rid of TR's buddies still there. I am not convinced that they are not the ones who are responsible for the mess with the veterans and I am convinced that they are the ones who are feeding the likes of Souhan and Reusse tidbits against players. Unless that front office gets rid of the people who brought you Park and Nishioka and extended Capps and Hughes, there will be no progress.
  18. It is not Max Kepler who should be nervous, it is Nick Gordon.
  19. WAR is a cumulative stat. Which means it depends on games played. In order to compare 2017 with 2018, you have to normalize to equal games, which means got to multiply 2018 WAR by something like 2 (or 162/number of games so far in 2018). Or (bit harder, but more accurate) go back in time and figure out 2017 WAR after the same number of games they played in 2018.
  20. Give him a couple days for the college draftees to sign and move to Cedar Rapids
  21. Those 2 do not belong in the same sentence as far as readiness goes... Rooker may be the Twins first baseman starting in 2019. Lewis needs to hit well in AA before they promote him. They rushed Buxton and paying for it now.
  22. He just does seem like a natural third baseman as far as instincts go, esp. charging the ball. Already been playing some second base this season. He might end up at OF if the arm plays there. Arm is pretty average.
  23. IIRC just after he was selected it was announced some place that he already has a deal with the Twins that will be announced after the College World Series. Not concerned at all.
  24. Indeed. Too many injuries got into his body and head Keirsey is 6'2", 195; Benson ended his career at 6'1", 205
