  1. Defense matters at SS, but so does offense. Its a give and take. Plouffe was too inconsistent at SS, he made bad plays at bad times. Dozier let his offense effect his defense. I say let Nunez have a shot and see if he can make it. Florimon isn't the answer, hopefully that much is clear. P.S. Plouffe has been pretty good this year at 3b...
  2. Where did this go? I can't remember who used to do it. Jason did in the BYTO days, and I think he started it here right? I miss it. One of the biggest reasons I check the forum.
  3. Really? Unfortunate to who? If the answer is Twins fans, you win. I am ready for a change.
  4. How long before TJ surgery?
  5. I'm just not a believer in a guy that can't throw strikes, doesn't have velocity, and doesn't strike people out. He had a 35% LD against, yet only a .293 babip. Stupid luck right there. I don't have faith in guys like that. You can talk about stuff all you want, but that only takes a pitcher so far. P.S. I hope this post is better and I don't offend anyone.
  6. I say the record will be set at 15,000 this year. We should have a prediction thread about this!
  7. Plouffe isn't a gold glove 3b. He will always be a little inconsistent. What is important is how he handles it, and going 3-5 with 3 RBI tells me is handling it ok. Let the guy play it out, its early.
  8. Pretty generous projections Seth. I'll do mine later, busy at the moment.
  9. Says the Twins.
  10. Nick, whenever you're ready to come over to the dark side I'll be here. Mismanagement and holding on the tired cliches have driven this organization to what it is. KC used to think their prospects were only a few years away 10 years ago. Is that where we're at? Lets slide by and sign mediocre guys that don't embarrass themselves every night? I have serious questions about the offense, but at least the starting rotation should be better. That will make a big difference where this team ends up. At this point, we just have to hope the best for guys to develop and hit. Plouffe, Pinto, Arcia, Hicks, Dozier could all be solid. If they are, the Twins will be fine. When Sano, Buxton and Rosario are regulars things will get easier.
  11. Why is anyone surprised by this? If he can find a way to salvage a career with the lack of talent he has then good for him. By never taking responsibility for terrible outings and blaming horrible spring training starts on wind I doubt that will happen. Good move clearing space on the 40-man.
  12. Hey, he felt good... I remember something about him "feeling good" all year in 2013 too.
  13. Didn't we come to this conclusion when we heard the news? Mauer on the field is better than Mauer off the field.
  14. We've had this discussion before. Revere is better in every way with the exception of arm strength.
  15. Bill Smith's right hand man was.... Terry Ryan. So there's that.
  16. No offense to him, but I really hope Rob Antony is not the next GM. I really want some fresh blood in the organization. Had the Twins won anything besides a division tittle in the last 20+ years I might feel different. Problem is, they haven't and haven't really been close. Diamond- really shouldn't ever need to start again. His decent year was a fluke deal and should only be kept around to spot start. Worley- its going to take a lot more than 20 innings in spring to convince me he can pitch at this level. In 50 innings last season he had a 7.21 ERA. Sure, he did alright the previous 2... he is still far from proven. Hicks- most likely (unfortunately) the starter. Hopefully he can figure it out.
  17. I have a hard time seeing this one biting the Twins in the ass in 2014. Its doubtful he pitches in the MLB this season, and if he does I'd imagine the Twins will be following him like every other MLB team.
  18. Kubel: Do you think you'll be able to hit better in Target Field now that the trees are gone?
  19. Bartlett: How it feels to be back to where he made is MLB debut. Hughes: Asking about the differences between the yankees clubhouse and the Twins during spring training. Perkins: What kind of designer jeans would look the best on him.
  20. Is it wrong that most of the articles I completely skip nowadays and just go straight into commenting like I read the whole thing? No? Whew, that was a load off my shoulders. It must be hard for the regular bloggers to think of stuff (correction... baseball related stuff) to blog about. Usually when I feel the need for a blog it has nothing to do about baseball, not really anyway. Its time for a revolution. We as members need to take over the blogs and articles section from current incumbents. Years of turmoil and oppression from the main page has beaten us down. We need to stand up. Blog about random dumb things as much as possible (please try to make sense though, I wont name names but somebody's blogs are pretty loony). Why can't we read a blog about the under-armor boxer-brief mania that has been sweeping the Twins clubhouse? Or the new Axe body spray Aaron Hicks is using? Come on guys. Lets think outside the diamond (hehe, yeah I did that).
  21. And his smile, describe his smile.... that's important.
  22. Why waste a 40-man spot? They have Sano and a host of utility guys (including Bartlett) to take time if Plouffe falls on his face.
  23. Now that Sano is not going to push for the 3b job for another year, what are peoples expectations for Plouffe? I'm really hoping we see him really take the job and run with it. A poor season would be frustrating. I'm really applauding the Bartlett acquisition right now. An OPS of .750 would be good for me, and likely ensure a starting spot in the MLB for the next few years for him.
  24. When Plouffe moves off 3rd in favor of Sano a platoon with Kubel would be killer. I hope his struggles last season are behind him. It will be an interesting story to watch, because Kubel is somewhat of a crier.
  25. If you can't get excited about that group of young pitchers....
