  1. With only 1 price how would we separate economic classes?
  2. That is my point. After they took the tees they started losing.
  3. Dave- First question. Is there any way to convince you to bring the trees back? Twins record with trees: 94-68 without: 195- 291. You must have made a deal with the Lorax. Second question. Do we know if the concrete has settled yet? If it hasn't, is there any settling agents that can help the Twins hit more home runs?
  4. Not too worried about this. I hope Nelson succeeds elsewhere, but he is obviously not a D1 QB. He would be more comfortable and have a lot more fun in a different division (maybe just a downgrade from the big10 even).
  5. I get that Plouffe isn't great, but he is still a decent player. Last year showed some serious doubts about his ability to be an everyday player. He could still overcome them, but he might not get everyday playing time if he doesn't show it before Sano is called up. No matter, I think the Twins will hold on to him until another player with his flexibility and skill set comes up (Harrison maybe).
  6. Tulo was a college SS drafted in the top 10.
  7. I feel like his success is what Hendriks might see in his future. Frustrated that the Twins just blatantly gave up on him at such a young age. If the Twins want to give him a legit shot at it, I'd be fine with the move. What I wouldn't want (which is what will happen) is him to start in the pen and then jump back and forth a few times and not have success so they scrap the idea. If they want to try him at starter, let him start. Shoot, let him switch roles with Gibson to start the year. Wouldn't be the worth thing to let Gibson come out of the pen a little bit and build confidence to start the year. If Swarzak fails you could then switch them back. Not much harm done in that scenario.
  8. Sano undergoes TJ surgery. Disclaimer: if you have no sense of humor don't click on the link.
  9. Would love to see him back. The Twins are the perfect team for him right now.
  10. This guy is an idiot. I'm not sure how anyone can call the Twins offseason bad. It hasn't been amazing, but easily a top 10 if not top 5. Just because they aren't going to go from worst to first doesn't mean they haven't improved.
  11. That's not very fair to those guys. They were first round picks that are cutting their teeth in the MLB right now. They might not make it, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve to be talked about. Besides, they are on the 25-man and are only talked about in that forum. This is the MiLB forum, so we talk about Kepler. So there's that. I like Kepler too. Its too bad he missed a good chunk of an important development year. I think he'll still start at Ft. Meyers and start slow but end the year strong. I do think he'll move to 1B too, more to accommodate a crowed OF with the Twins (Arcia, Buxton, Hicks). I don't think the Twins would be as open about his talent if they didn't believe in him. On the positional player development, they have been pretty decent. When a guy has talent, the Twins usually do a pretty good job.
  12. Twins have been hitting on their recent drafts. Whoever was put in charge of that has been doing a very good job lately. Makes it easier drafting in the top 5, but the secondary picks have been money.
  13. I'm with you Kab. I keep hammering on Deduno because of his injury and only one successful year in the MLB. When you're a marginal MLB talent and have an injury it isn't too hard to go from marginal to horrible. We saw it with Worley and Diamond last season. I'm not counting on any contribution from those 3 going forward. In fact, I'd love to never see any starts from them in a Twins uniform again. I know that isn't going to happen, but the less marginal pitchers that get starts the better IMO.
  14. I do. It was 2011. Pavano, Baker, Liriano, Blackburn, Slowey, Duensing, with Swarzak, Hendriks in mix. Gibson was also very promising going into the season.
  15. Bonnes.... breaking new ground... pfff (just kidding Boones (not really, but kinda (I really am though in case I might be moderated))).
  16. I'm going to save most of my ammo for a blog I have planned. I put myself on a temporary hiatus for a month after being badgered by glunn (really not joking). But I'm baaaack. Anyway, Deduno is fine to have on the 40-man and fine for the 2012, 2013, and even 2014 Twins teams to run out there. However, he is 30 and has 200 career MLB innings. He doesn't strike guys out and walks too many. Plus, he has a bad shoulder. He can't be counted on for 2014. I wouldn't have been against letting that last spot come down to Deduno, Worley, Diamond. Problem is then if Gibson struggles or there is another injury. Deduno will still get his shot in 2014, it just isn't going to be handed to him... like what would happen on a real MLB team.
  17. I really wouldn't say they are doing too much. They have 3 straight 95+ loss season. Terry Ryan had to do something and something big. Pitching wins games. It wont take you to the playoff like KC learned in 2013, but it will win games. Luckily for the Twins, they have two of the top prospects in baseball knocking on the door, one impact bat getting his feet wet and another not far away. Combine that talent with Joe Mauer, and 2015 looks pretty good. Now, 2014 isn't a throw-away either. Mauer, Willingham, Arcia, Dozier, Plouffe, Pinto, Kubel all have talent. Bounce back years for Willingham, Plouffe and Kubel could happen (especially with a Kubel/Plouffe platoon). This team wont be a run scoring machine, but with decent starters and a good bullpen they could score enough to be above .500.
  18. He doesn't have to be better than Gibson. The question should be if that is better than Deduno, in which case my answer would be probably.
  19. I'm not sure Parmelee would be claimed if taken off the 40-man. He'd have less of than Hendriks did.
  20. I wouldn't mind this deal. As much hate as there is for Pelfrey, he is a guy that would be a solid option for the back of the rotation. I'd much rather see Pelfrey in the rotation than Deduno.
  21. Platoon in RF with Plouffe and Kubel would be extremely effective. Doubt they do it, but I don't really consider Parmelee a real option going forward. If he gets off to a slow start he might be buried on the depth chart.
  22. Big fan of this move. Buy low for the Twins. Kubel will provide some depth at DH and a corner OF spot. He also allows Willingham or him to be trade bait at the deadline. Hopefully the concrete has cured enough to allow him to hit some HR's....
  23. Not a huge fan of this list. I think Thorpe should easily be in the top 10 at this point. By this time next year the Twins could have Meyer (if he doesn't get enough innings to go over rookie status), Stewart, Berrios, Thorpe all in the top 100 prospects. If the Twins can hit on the next draft pick, they will be very well positioned to have another long run of success.
  24. Refusing to answer a poll without Rally Monkey as an option.
  25. I would not mind Garza. At least the Twins would have 3 legit starting pitchers to rely on... which is 3 more than they've had since 2010.
