  1. No Kepler, Harrison, Minier (not sure if I'd put him in the top 20, but might). I'd probably drop some of those relief pitchers in favor of Kepler and Harrison but to each their own. Pretty good list.
  2. If that is the roster Terry Ryan will not be the GM of the Twins in 2015. That roster means he makes absolutely no moves at all. I'm very doubtful that happens.
  3. I would be on board with all these guys. Free agency is so long away.....
  4. You are misinterpreting the context in which I used the word "stupidity." If this is so offensive to be deleted I think we have some bigger issues. stu·pid·i·ty st(y)o͞oˈpiditē/ noun 1. behavior that shows a lack of good sense or judgment.
  5. How about we have a little context? Is stupid now a bad word that we aren't aloud to use? Wow dude. I guess we need to use kid gloves when posting on this site now.
  6. Why is everyone so die-hard that Plouffe has terrible defense? His dWAR is .1, which is pretty much average. His defensive metrics are all slightly below average, but not too far off. Some of you are suggesting that he is Tony Batista out there, which isn't true at all. I'm not a huge fan of defensive metrics, but I'm also not a fan of people over-exaggerating to the point of stupidity. He is an average defensive 3b. All that aside, he is still destined for a utility type role in 2014. He might even hit enough between now and when Sano is ready that justifies a permanent spot somewhere other than 3b. A lot of factors will come into play. I don't think anyone is ready to just dump him like Valencia since he can play multiple positions. The next 50 games for Plouffe are going to be very important towards his career.
  7. Annnnd it was deleted. The world we live in now.... Can't even post pictures of super sexy women. Ahhh, I remember the sluts rule days....
  8. He had a pretty good first half. July and August were just horrible months. I'm guessing he gets a little more of a leash. Obviously, through the end of the year he'll get playing time and most likely through the beginning of next season too. Sano wont start with the Twins if they've learned anything with Benson, Parmelee, Hicks, Dozier... etc.
  9. I think he only plays 5 games. He's a terrible QB and will finally get put on the bench. I'll be glad when the Ponder era is over.
  10. So you're willing to put more weight on Dozier's 3 good months than Plouffe's? Dozier has just had more success recently, while Plouffe has struggled for a few months. Not mentioning defense of course, because Dozier has fielded his position much better. If Plouffe can perform well this month, what was his issue? What do we believe? I want to have hope, so I'm pulling for him.
  11. I really hope Terry Ryan puts some money into the rotation. There really isn't much high potential in that entire group. I can see legitimate starters in Correia, Hendriks, Diamond, Worley. Problem is that each of those guys would likely be a 5th starter or bubble guy in many rotations.... and that is them performing to their ability, any slip and you get 2013 versions of Worley and Diamond. Not good. The only way out of this mess is if Gibson, Meyer and May all develop to their ceilings or a few good FA acquisitions. I don't want another 90 loss season in 2014....
  12. Is everyone throwing in the towel too early? After the last two games, he now has an OPS of .822 for the last 28 days. Obviously going 7 for 9 with some power has helped that, but he has looked much better. Currently riding an 8 game hit streak too. Maybe Plouffe is feeling some urgency. Whatever it is, hope he keeps it up through the end of the year. He ends September with an OPS of over .800, that would make 3 months with an OPS over .800, one month at .681 and 2 months below .600. Will give us all a lot to talk about over the offseason!
  13. Call him up!!!
  14. I wouldn't be too surprised if they give him another shot. However, they didn't give Dozier a call-up last year. I don't see much harm in giving him some AB's if they think he might start in MN next year.
  15. It depends on pitching. If Terry Ryan spends some money to improve the rotation they could absolutely be competitive. Gibson will be better next year. Meyer could be knocking on the door with May not too far behind him. Other than those two, Berrios is a little ways out along with Stewart, Jorge, Thorpe. The Twins need some talent in the rotation. There is definitely some available in FA this offseason. Hopefully they will sign more than a Kevin Correia type.
  16. His .622 OPS says different. He is what we thought he is, a bad hitter. By contrast, Dozier has a .737 OPS. They each have also been trending is opposite directions (Dozier getting better, Florimon getting worse). The argument would really be does added offense of Rosario outweigh Florimon's defensive value over Dozier's at SS. I'm pretty confident that I can say Rosario is going to be a much much better hitter than Florimon, very likely even better than Dozier. So yes, I would take the offense of Dozier at SS and Rosario at 2b any day. Dozier's defensive improvement at 2b should translate to SS, he has the skills.
  17. Give Dozier another try at SS. Moving Rosario to the OF would be pretty knee-jerk right now. He is starting to field pretty well and get comfortable. How likely is Dozier to continue to hit like this? Plouffe had an almost .800 OPS for the first half of the year... his second half has been so abysmal that the entire board has grown tired of it. You just don't move talent from the MI because some guy has had a good run.
  18. As much as I wouldn't be opposed to adding Kubel, all he'd be doing is taking AB's from young guys. I'd almost rather have him than Willingham though.
  19. Looking at the Twins remaining schedule, they have 18 of the final 28 games against potential playoff teams. I don't see any way they go over .500 and avoid another 90 loss season. In fact, they will be hard pressed to be outside of the top 3 draft choices. Houston and Miami are pretty much going to be the top 2, but I could easily see the Cubs and Sox passing the Twins. It isn't just that these are playoff teams, but a majority will be fighting for a wild-card. Detroit will have it wrapped up like a freshman at college, but the Rays, A's, Indians will be going all out. The question that I'm left asking is which members of management or the coaching staff are going to be cut. I know we've beaten the Gardy/Andy/Ryan horse to death, but outside of them there has already been a lot of turnover. I will be interested to see if ownership steps in and actually pays some attention to what is going on or if Ryan is allowed to bungle another offseason.
  20. Good for Morneau! Good for the Twins (I hope)! Glad they finally pulled the trigger. I will be a huge Pirates fan in October!!!!!
  21. His splits before and after the all-star break are incredible. Pre- AS Break: .263/.323/.445 with 10 HRs in 238 AB's Post AS Break: .174/.238/.280 with 2 HRs in 132 AB's Pretty incredible how bad he's been. I could live with the first half Plouffe any day. An almost .800 OPS while playing average defense is pretty valuable at 3b. I don't know what has changed, but I sure hope he can have a good September... or he wont be around very long.
  22. I'm just wondering how this is our conflict. Why is the UN urging the US to wait for military action until they are finished with their investigation? They didn't do anything to us... so why are we going to get involved? Especially without the approval of congress! This is absurd. Maybe we should concentrate on putting our tax dollars into better places... like the economy. Its amazing how negligent our leaders can be.
  23. stringer, we will see what happens with Hicks... but at this point a platoon player might be all he is anyway. He doesn't have much time until elite talent starts trickling up the system.
  24. So much negativity. Every one of you who are saying he shouldn't be promoted, probably also agree he should be the starting 3b after the arb. deadline passes. Soooo, the difference is a month of AAA? I say call him up and let him get a taste. He can still start in AAA next year while the Twins let Plouffe try to show his worth one last time (is he injured again? WTF is wrong with him right now?). Depending on how much Terry Ryan commits to winning this offseason, leaving Sano in AAA more than a month could be a big mistake. Unless everyone here is willing to punt 2014 and look to another 90 loss season, Sano (and Rosario, maybe Meyer) will be apart of the Twins sooner than later. I'm not sure what they would have to do to give him a September call-up and still get that extra year of control. I don't feel like digging through the numbers right now.
