  1. You must not have been reading Souhan for very long...
  2. Plouffe>>Willingham They posted the same OPS in 2013 and both had underwhelming seasons. Plouffe can also play a bunch of positions. Willingham was also 33 when he hit 35 HRs.... he is not Jim Thome.
  3. Are we really arguing Revere vs. Hicks in CF? This thread made a funny twist. How can anyone forget how horrible Hicks played in the OF for the first few months? He settled down and was alright, but nowhere near Revere. I can't wait until I have to stop discussing how terrible Hicks is. *Please Aaron Hicks, turn into a solid corner OF so we don't have to talk about this anymore. **While I'm at it, stop switch hitting. Thanks.
  4. Thorpe is going to rocket up lists after this year. I'm really excited to watch him, Jorge, Stewart, Gonsalves pitch this year. If they all start in Cedar Rapids they will dominate the league.
  5. A drug suspension shouldn't keep Rosario out of the rankings, that is stupid. He is a big-time prospect that gets overlooked with Buxton and Sano in the same system. What a joke. The only prospects I expect to graduate from this list are Meyer and Sano. Buxton, Stewart, Rosario, Berrios, Thorpe, Kepler, Gonsalves, Jorge, Polanco (and the 5th draft choice 2014) all could be on the radar next year at this time.
  6. I'm just going to say I doubt this happens. Too many young guys that will need playing time and will cost less. If he has a great 2014 maybe they go year to year with him.
  7. People didn't bash the attempt to bring Nishi in, they bashed the scouting ability of the Twins. Anyone who watched the guy play knew from the get-go he wasn't an MLB caliber SS. There was questions about his range, arm, and bat. He also was simply an above-average player until his one break-out year. There is a reason the Twins got him for so cheap, non of the other MLB teams wanted him.
  8. Why is anyone worried about this? Pinto will get the opportunity to earn the job. I'm glad we have Suzuki. It seems JR is learning his lessons by handing starting jobs to questionable guys with no legit back-up. Suzuki and Pinto is one of the least interesting topics regarding this team IMO. To me, it is a clear situation where the Twins brought in a Veteran while a rookie is getting adjusted.
  9. Remove all the grass that isn't from Minnesota and bring back the trees.
  10. Funniest thing I've heard all day.
  11. Not worried about this. Suzuki is the veteran and is fully aware of what his role will be. Easing Pinto into starting is a good thing. This isn't Joe Mauer we're looking at. Pinto should be a solid player once he is comfortable, the main objective for the Twins is getting him there.
  12. This is why we have a Keith Law Hates the Twins thread. However, he is hard to disagree with most of the time. He was rightfully down on the Twins when they were winning. The playoffs consistently showed why. I'm not a Klaw fan by any means, he is arrogant and takes the extreme to get a rise out of people.
  13. I boo Jeter. Why? Because its so ****ing fun. Not often do you really get to boo people. I don't mind booing him because he stands for the Yankees and their money mostly because I know he doesn't care. Its like making fat jokes with your fat buddy that laughs with you. Jeter is a great player and leader, a guy I wish the Twins had. Don't feel bad about booing him, feel bad for NOT booing him.
  14. Where do you see these quotes? Sorry Bonnes, but I'll be mashing my F5 for you on this one!
  15. On the other hand you get guys that were rushed like Carlos Gomez and it delays their development. Had Gomez been able to develop like a normal prospect its possible his breakout could have come at a younger age. Rarely do players get held back for very long. There are obvious examples, but in recent years when guys are ready, they play. Teams like the Rays and A's are always going to be cognizant of team control and salary, its just the business.
  16. Way too early for this thread.... its been a long offseason/3 years...
  17. This post blew up. Slightly disappointing I don't pay enough attention to notice. I've long voiced my opinions about the moderating policy. Through the forum medium and to any moderator I felt was out of bounds. In the last 4 months my motivation for posting has been broken. There is no fun in it. The atmosphere is stale and boring. My personal opinion. When baseball season comes around again I'll start feeling differently.
  18. Felix Jorge is above him in my prospect rankings. I'm just not very impressed by a guy that repeated a level and showed little improvement. Sure the potential is there (otherwise he would be brushed under the rug with a mid-4 ERA in AA). I'm just down on him like I was down on Hicks after a few sub-par seasons (P.S. Hick's seasons were still decent, May's have not been).
  19. A forum. It didn't have the amount of blogging contribution this site does, but most of the regular posters from there came over here. And there was a fraction of the moderating that is done here.
  20. That doesn't cover prior to 2011. I feel like it would tell a different story if it did. I might be wrong (happened exactly once), but his struggles are well documented. Nothing points to this being a fluke. His advanced stats (LD% being my favorite) shows he just doesn't hit very well from that side. Maybe he figures it out. I'll just leave it at that. Going back and forth about it does no good. I'm one of the strongest advocates to dropping switch hitting, I really don't feel it is as much an advantage as some.
  21. His track record in the minors shows he's struggled with RH pitchers his entire professional career. Just because he struggled in his first stint doesn't make worry... the fact he got completely blown away makes me worry. His numbers started to look better when he started facing more LH pitchers. His splits are .559 to .713. I don't hold out much hope for improving beyond just being bad from that side.
  22. Not a slam dunk at all. Span is a proven commodity. He is a good player with a good attitude and a great lead-off hitter. Meyer had a shoulder injury that lost him half the season in 2013. Sure, he has potential to be a great pitcher, but so did Philip Hughes. You can't count on prospects reaching their ceiling. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Regardless, you need acquire as much high-end talent as possible to get high-caliber players. I am a fan of the trade, but I do believe Span is a pretty good player. The entire reason it happened is because it made sense for both teams. If the Nats make a playoff run in the next few years (completely possible) Span will be a big part of it. If the Twins turn it around in the next few years, Meyer will most likely be a part of it. Both teams win this IMO.
  23. Span is a pretty solid CF, the jury is still out on Meyer. The Nats were in playoff mode so adding a piece like Span was necessary to compete. Proven commodities are worth a lot. Plus, the Nats had a pretty solid rotation already and they were desperate for a CF worth his salt and a leadoff hitter. I think it was a good trade.
  24. What? He had 4 games at the end of the year he got hits in. I guess if you call that rebounding and being a top player we should sign Juan Castro and hand him the starting SS role again. You don't have an OPS of .650 after only 72 AB's and feel confident because of a 4 game stretch (which accounted for 15 of those AB's... think how terrible the other 57 were!). He also struck out 21 times in AAA. This wasn't simply not doing very well, it was complete failure. As for him rebounding. His success lies in his ability to hit RH pitching. His struggles are well documented on this site. I'm not a huge believer that he will somehow figure it out this late in the game. The Twins should have forced him to stop switch hitting when it was evident he was very good at it. There is still hope, but I'm on the boat that sees his future as a replacement level player (which really is ok).
  25. Great move for the Twins! I've watched him and not a big fan of him. Glad he will be pitching for he Yankees at a super high price.
