    I just took a stopwatch to that play. It took 5.1 seconds between bat contact and the ball hitting Mauer's glove. tl;dr: Ramos is really slow

    Mauer should've cut that off. Don't know why he didn't when it was clear the runner wasn't going to try to score.

    BTW, as of tonight, only 2.5 games separate six teams for the second AL wild card spot. Yeah, you can say that none of them would stand a chance in a five game series against the Astros, and you'd probably be right. But like it or not, this is why MLB created the play in game. We are paying attention, as are fans of the other teams who might've just packed it in and forgot about baseball until next spring.

    This always reminds me of a game years ago where in this exact same situation, the umpires said Jhonny Peralta, who at his best ran like his shoes were made of cement, would've scored.
