  1. The comment that Berrios is wanting a big pay day so future players in his position can make more is laughable. Let's get real. He like all pro athletes are concerned about themselves only. Most are selfish, arrogant, and totally out of touch with reality. In regards to the CBA:. If there is a work stoppage, I for one hope they never come back. They will come back of course but with everything the general public has gone through the past couple of years, and with attendance and tv ratings so poor, don't they realize that most Americans don't care if they play or not?
  2. The feel sorry for Sano insinuation is laughable. They have been very patient with him for years. If he is relegated to a bench role so be it. Payroll should not be the end all. Just because the Twins over paid him doesn't guarantee him everyday status.
  3. Much to do about nothing. Except the comment that the manager shouldn't be involved because he needs to concentrate on managing the game. We certainly don't have a manager that manages a game. Seems like his computer manages for him.
  4. I totally agree with the gentleman saying how bad the game is now. I too have said if they go to electronic ball and strike umps I'm done. Been watching MLB games over 50 years and have never seen it at it's lowest point. It's boring and unwatchable. And you know what you can do with the analytics and gutless leaders who call themselves managers.
  5. Excellent article. Thanks for all the information about "prospect" I had forgotten about. Twins have sure fallen hard and fast.
  6. I agree with running it out by the Tigers. The Twins have many times this year dogged it on the baserunning. Twins don't seem to have any pride at all. It should be a privilege to put on a Twins uniform. It's going to be a very long second half of the season.
  7. Nice article Nick. All areas appear to need work. However I think they need to concentrate on the pitching. Twins should use the second half to see how the prospects fare. The current staff with a few exceptions has produced horrendous results. Signing bargain basement washed up pitchers is not the answer.
  8. It's a perfect year to find out the progression, or lack thereof, from some of our top pitching prospects. The season was lost long ago. This may be the only reason to follow Twins rest of the season.
  9. Excellent comments by all and a well written article. Great insight into Buxton. I've said all along he's a great defensive center fielder. However his .247 career batting average in 7 seasons is not so great. He's only played in more than 100 games only once. He had a great month in April of this year and everyone calls him a superstar. He cannot and should not be given a multi-year contract until he proves he can stay on the field and be consistently productive!!
  10. Interesting article. First let me say that the radio team of Provis and Gladden is awesome. They certainly are better than the tv crew. Although I don't have to hear the tv crew that much because I can't get them on tv. You had to do a lot of stretching to say it's the best first half ever. I'd like to but the teams play has been horrendous. I still follow them daily as I have for nearly 60 years. But MLB is changing a lot and for me is ruining the game. If there is a strike/lockout after the CBA expires on December 1st, they have lost me for good!
  11. Phillies don't offer much. It would be nice if the Twins could once make a trade and get major league ready talent. But I'm sure any trades will be for prospects that may or may not help us in 3-4 years. That is the way they do it here. Leaving fans upset
  12. Love Berrios and hope the Twins keep him. His performance yesterday was typical of his career. Pitches great and one inning loses it inexplicably. But worth having. What is scary to me is the apparant multiple times he's turned down contract offers from Twins. If they cannot sign him they need to trade him.
  13. I'm very happy for the 2 young high school players the Twins selected. They will become instant millionaires in signing bonuses for playing high school baseball. Plus the odds are they may never make it to the majors. That in reality is what happens to most high school players drafted. Twins issue same old, " we are excited about our picks". I sure hope they are very successful but reality tells me it's not likely.
  14. Yes we could remember Kielty and a dozen others in the same boat. Give Larnach a break for crying out loud. He's a rookie, and overall has done well. So when has it become bad for a rookie to have slumps but the " veterans" get a pass when they have a slump? Larnach has proved he belongs here and deserves to stay when everyone else gets healthy. We have plenty of other candidates to move out. To send Larnach down may be worse for him. Where are the coaches that are supposed to help him?

    The Grand "Re-Tool" Experiment

Wow. Excellent article and great comments by all. The biggest take away I get from this is the next couple of years for the Twins seems very bleak no matter which way they go. They dug themselves a deep hole by signing bargain basement pitchers that are washed up. That's the Twins way. Until that philosophy changed I don't see us being contenders but pretenders.
  16. Yes it seems inevitable that Cruz will be traded. He deserves the chance to be traded to a contending team.. it would be great to watch him in the playoffs. Good luck Nellie!
  17. Very interesting comments. I will put my 2 cents worth in. Twins tend to trade expiring contracts for prospects that MAY be helpful 3 or 4 years down the line, analytical b.s. not withstanding. We need better players obviously. But we also need better coaches and manager that can put the computer down and manage.
  18. Great comments guys. I'm beginning to think the Twins FO will not make many moves. Just some obvious ones on expiring contracts. They dug themselves a huge hole by signing bargain basement pitchers that few teams want. The risk they make is by doing too little, or "retooling" will hurt attendance and further alienate a fan base. I think they have a tough job ahead of them but that's what they get paid for. Let's hope they don't swing and miss at the trade deadline/ off-season. The CBA is another story worthy of another time
  19. The ridiculous banter regarding rbi production is ridiculous. Just as the new wave of boring analytics is ruining the game. The game thrived for decades without all of the invented and discovered stats. Now the game is boring and becoming unwatchable. Add in a poor team that manages by computer and trends and refuses or is unable to manage in game is sad.
  20. All facets of Twins game went bad this year. Manager included. By the way do we have one? To me the worst part of the team is pitching overall and bullpen specifically. Why would you trade Berrios and/or Rogers when they are your best two pitchers and you need pitching? Besides we always trade for " prospects" that MAY help in 2 or 3 years but usually don't. Twins are in such a mess!!
  21. I agree with the comments concerning Berrios. What do you people want? He pitched a great game. He only gave up 1 hit and struck out 10 in 7 innings. And have got to love Baldelli putting in Colome' with the game only 2-1? What kind of bone head managing is that? How about Sano? 2 costly errors and a base running blunder they don't make in Legion baseball. Bottom line is Twins lose again in all too familiar fashion.
  22. Sano is no option for anything with the Twins. JD is a good player can play a good third base. But like Buxton, he's hurt all the time. We need pitching. We seem to always need pitching. Trade Donaldson if you can strengthen your pitching.
  23. Nice win. I know it's only one but that's all we got last week. Hope Berrios rebounds from his last start. Trade deadline in about 3 weeks
  24. Great comments all!! Nice to see twins win. Let us not forget though they only won one game for the week. I love Jim Kaat But because of Bally Sports being dumped from most cable/streaming I don't get to watch it much. Thank goodness for great radio announcers Cory Provis and Dan Gladden!!
  25. Love the comment about Baldelli. He needs to accept a good deal of blame for the very poor play. He needs to throw his computer in the garbage and start managing! Quit accepting this poor play and stop telling us they are trying and are playing hard. We are not dumb. We see bad baseball why can't Rocco?
