  1. I dare say that Bonds is skewing the whole scale.
  2. All fair enough. So be it, they could cut him no problem then.
  3. Problem being this. Let's say the Twins get rid of Duensing and Stauffer and a reliever goes down, who do they replace that guy with? I'm not sure if Duensing and Stauffer still have options? If they do it doesn't matter as much.
  4. I would think he could bring it up, but he's not Kershaw.
  5. Vargas could do it if he figures it out. Dude even looks like Howard.
  6. Finding a .950 OPS hitter is rare. Tight now there are 11 players with a .950+ OPS. Dee Gordon is (.865) the best example and he doesn't walk either!
  7. Hmmm..... Would I trade potentially good and cheap Howard for declining expensive Howard? Pass.
  8. You have to have somebody to replace him with. Is anybody ready to come up and fill that spot? I do think that Nolasco is future bullpen (ala Edwin Jackson) but we have to wait for Santana to come back for that to happen.
  9. 4 Switch Hitters in a row is nice.
  10. It might be doable to avoid dealing Sano and Buxton. But it's two of four of Meyer, Berrios, Gordon, or Stewart. All probably with Santana too. However Amaro does have a bad tendency to want a "replacement" for the departed, looking at the Pence trade.
  11. Right now no, but I'll let you know if somebody can't come!
  12. I really would like to see him by June 19. Incidentally I have tickets for that game.
  13. Better yet, let's just sign him in two years when the Twins are hopefully a player away from winning it all. Catching is probably the one area the Twins have no major talent coming up the pipeline, unless you like Pinto's defensive abilities
  14. I'll say this, Watch video of Selma Alabama. Then compare to today in Baltimore. Then tell me we are building a police state. The police are far more restrained (obviously have work to do) and the "protestors" are doing absolutely nothing to improve the situation. They are only making it worse by lacking any sort of organization or discipline. The police are far from perfect but the behavior by the rioters is despicable. What message does it send to light buildings on fire and destroy privately-owned cars?
  15. I could see Plouffe doing a Zobrist or Cuddyer impression, playing spot 1B, 3B, OF when necessary. If (When?) Sano comes up, Plouffe would basically replace Hunter and Nunez, which has value.
  16. I had to look and they did indeed do this (although only once (smaller 6-3 streaks and a 5-1 to end the season were present though)). More comically is that before their 7-5 stretch they went 0-7 and followed it up with a 0-8 stretch. Man they were terrible.
  17. Yea, if extrapolated out it's 94.5 wins so that clearly isn't true.
  18. New York Yankees - 81.5 Under Oakland Athletics - 81.5 Over Philadelphia Phillies - 68.5 Under Pittsburgh Pirates - 84.5 Under San Diego Padres - 84.5 Over San Francisco Giants - 84.5 Over Seattle Mariners - 86.5 Over St. Louis Cardinals - 88.5 Under Tampa Bay Rays - 78.5 Under Texas Rangers - 78.5 Over Toronto Blue Jays - 83.5 Over Washington Nationals - 93.5 OVER! Tie breaker 1: The two AL WC teams will be: White Sox, A's Tie breaker 2: The two NL WC teams will be: Marlins, Cardinals
  19. If we send Levi Michael, Alex Wimmers, and Brian Duensing in a package, that has to get us Cole Hamels right?
  20. Meh, I don't think Berrios will get the nod. If anything, the Twins need to save the extra year of control and have other alternatives.
  21. Santana and Santana
  22. All three players are already up and one is a SP. This has much more value then a worrying RP who declined sharply and two RP low level prospects.
  23. There is no way that is getting the deal done. Hell I would trade that for Fister without a second thought. And we all should want Zimm on the Twins, he's awesome. I'm just not trading for him.
  24. I'd have to think that the Nats would want a 2B which means Dozier would have to be in any deal for Strasbourg. Dozier and Berrios (Meyer?) for Stras. Seems too little a return for Stras, but I can't see the Twins coughing up anymore then that, except maybe filler. I don't know if I would pull that trigger though. No to Zim or Fister. If they Twins wanted one of them, just sign them next off-season, when it would make more sense.
  25. "Disclaimer: ZiPS projections are computer-based projections of performance. Performances have not been allocated to predicted playing time in the majors — many of the players listed above are unlikely to play in the majors at all in 2014. ZiPS is projecting equivalent production — a .240 ZiPS projection may end up being .280 in AAA or .300 in AA, for example. Whether or not a player will play is one of many non-statistical factors one has to take into account when predicting the future." I don't believe you read the whole article.
