Still not sure what Hicks is, but he looks better this time around. If he turns out to be useful, he could make a very intimidating OF. He did have a 259/344/296 line in Sep. so he's not so atrocious this time around.
It seems like the Twins were the affiiate for a long time with NB. I remember going to a NB game with Twins affiliates when I was 6, and that was 19 years ago!
of course there is room for regression too.... Santana, Vargas, and Suzuki all have that threat easy, and I'm worried about Hughes as well.... However, I think the Twins will be better next year, the prospects are finally starting to break through.
I would say Dick is right if somebody asks a pitcher of a high ball hitter and Dozier comes to mind first. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/instagraphs/finding-high-ball-hitters-with-chris-young/
I honestly think that the BABIP in August has risen because he's not trying to put it over the fence as often. If he's sacrificing power for OBP, the BABIP would come up and HR's down. His GB and LD % are up, plus maybe a little luck, and the BABIP is explained.
I know May allowed a lot of R's the last game, but his he struck out 8 out of only 11 outs. So he's got stuff. He only walked one (although the two HBP weren't great). He got hit hard, but some of those will start to fall in leather as it goes on. I think he will still get it going.
Correct, but the Minor seems to be the major acquisition, which certainly sweetens the pot. In no way has Nolasco been as bad as Upton, but conversly Nolasco has not been as good as Minor so...
As per MLBTR, the Cubbies and Braves are in talks that would move Edwin Jackson to the Braves for Mike Minor & B.J. Upton. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/08/braves-to-revisit-b-j-upton-trade-talks-could-move-gattis-in-offseason.html#disqus_thread I'm curious if the Twins could arrange this with Ricky Nolasco for the same two. What are your thoughts?
I've always thought that the one position begging for a Platoon is C. It's a position that mandates giving up PA's to rest anyways... I realize finding a solid lefty catcher is difficult but they are out there.
Angels have traded away nearly everybody in their system, which means it would take major league talent to make it work, which they won't do because of their situation. Conversely Kole Calhoun could make an interesting trade for Brian Dozier
That must be the thought process. Perhaps they go this offseason and get Lester & another ace (Scherzer)? Add that to Cespedes and they have a better team than this last year's.
I really think that's going to bite the Sox in the kiester. I keep seeing these Cuban players sign for big money, one of them has to fail pretty soon. There can't really be a market inefficiency there for much longer...
Basically it would put the roster at: C: Suzuki 1B:Vargas? Plouffe? Sano? Options here anyways. 2B: Dozier SS: Escobar 3B: Plouffe or Sano LF: Mauer CF: Santana RF: Arcia Then again I really want Santana at short...
