  3. Thank you for including the box score. It helps to see what the batting order was and what positions they are playing.
  4. Could you please include a link to the box scores for each ot the games. Thank you.
  5. I wish the Twins would be aggressive and put Rosario, Sano, Berrios & Vargas in AA NB . They can always send them back down if they can't hit. AA is better than A for learning how to field. better ballparks = less bad bounces. Berrios has been facing AA quality pitching in winter ball and WBC.
  6. Different bodies react differently to age and wear and tear. Modern knowledge can strengthen his knees. Except for his throwing out potential steals, in what ways is Mauer worse ? He still blocks balls thrown into the dirt, calls a great game and handles pitchers at an elite level. If Joe hits like Joe and catches 130 games, then Mauer will earn every penny he is paid. Throwing out potential base stealers is at least 1/2 the responsibility of the pitchers. They have worked on this during ST and Joe will benefit from this work during the season. Mauer is not the Twins best First Baseman. He does not hit with enough power to be the Twins #1 first baseman. Morneaux at 1B and Mauer C is much better than Mauer at 1B and Doumit catching. Heck, Parmalee at !B with Mauer catching will be better than Mauer at 1B and Doumit catching. Mauer and Morneaux are the top stories for the Twins in 2013, but starting Pitching is the #1 story, and the #2, #3, #4 & #5 stories for the year. If they are not good stories, the rest of them won't make much difference.
  7. A .500 record is something to wish for in 2013. It means the rotation has some stability. It means the top of the order provides some runs. It means the middle infield fields the ball. It means the relief pitchers provide some relief. It means some fun for 2013 and some hope for 2014. I am so ready for this season to start.
  8. All things considered, Ryan brought up Dozier last year, and Dozier needed to be sent down. Hicks has played ST like a major leaguer. Now we'll get to see what he can do with the season. Ryan would like to give us a team we can cheer for. We've got Mauer, Morneaux & Willingham. That is a pretty good 3-4-5. What was he going to do with the Middle Infield. There were no difference makers on the market. He went with our mediocre talents instead of wasting assets gaining other peoples mediocre talents. Here's hoping that ours work out. We are taking a risk with Hicks and Dozier batting at the top of the order, but Gardy won't keep them at the top, if they aren't setting the table for the big guys. We may see Mastro leading off and Mauer batting 2nd before June. If we stayed patient with Valencia for 3 years, we can stay patient with Plouffe for one more season. What choice do we have, except to let Parmelee play through the season. All he needs to do is play acceptable RF and hit 250+ with some power, and he seems a cinch to do that. This season will be interesting and fun. Badsmurf and Thylos don't want to see it that way, but that is what curmudgeons are for.

    I'm an Elitist

I don't have to look at stats to know that I cringe, whenever a ball is hit toward 3rd base. I don't have to belong to SABR to know that Florimon did not field like an elite shortstop. I do not have to be an elitest to fear for Aaron Hick's mental health after a month of facing major league pitching. I am old enough to remember Willie Mays in his rookie year. I know that players do not always produce as advertised...but sometimes they do. That is called hope.

    Starting Rotation

We all have seen pitchers that seemed to have difficulty in Spring Training, find their stuff once the season starts. We've see players hit for high average and then can't hit above .200 in real games. If we go by Spring Training results so far, the starting rotation would be: Sam Deduno Cole DeVries PJ Walters Liam Hendriks ahead of Worley, Pelfrey & Correia. Wouldn't that be a wonderment.

  12. I'll take the under. The rest of the central will be better.
  13. 2013 Twins Starters Predictions These predictions are based only on my gut feelings. I post these here now Worley - Will be fighting to recover from surgery. will largely be ineffective Pelfrey - Will be fighting to recover from surgery. will largely be ineffective Correia - A waste of money and time Diamond - Will be fighting to recover from surgery. will largely be ineffective. May be a 1 year wonder Diduno - The ace of the staff. May win 15+ games Devries - Solid and unspectacular Hendriks- Surprises and improves as the season progresses. Gibson - Has an inconsistent year in AAA. Walters - Forced into the rotation and gives a steady performance. Perez - Surprisingly effective when pressed into the rotation. Swarzak - Sometimes effective. Sometimes not. Duensing- Forced into the rotation. Becomes a left handed force. Final starting 5 Diduno Devries Duensing Walters Perez

  15. I hope they start Correia on opening day. I'd be sorry for the fans that day, but it would set Correia up to be the sacrificial lamb against the Leagues #1 starters, ie. Verlander, King Felix, Price, Shields etc.
  16. I rented Pelotero from the Hennipin County Library. It is worthwhile to watch it. Check your local library and see if it is available.
  17. I thought WAGs were Wives and Girlfriends. Where are the pic's of the babes ?
  18. All this speculation excludes Liam Hendriks. Besides the Seattle game he had the game he won and his last start was a quality start. Hendriks is still very young (Born: Feb 10, 1989) and has proved himself in the minors. 2013 is the year he can prove he belongs with the Twins.
  19. I got the e-book version today. Its a great read, and it is fun to find out about the lesser known prospects. It says that Bryan Haar was a 34th round draft pick in 2008.?? It also said he was drafted in 2012 ??
  20. If Slowey would sign a minor league contract with the Twins. why not? Do you think that Slowey would do it ?
  21. This is the time to spend quality $$ on a quality player, but we already have the pitchers to fill out the pitching staff. A healthy Vance Worley will be our #1 starter and we have Diamond, and now Kevin Correia. Liam Hendricks was our Twins Minor League pitcher of the year in 2011 and pitched very well in AAA last year. He will be a solid #3-4 starter with 10-15 wins and a 3.50 era, unless he is a head case. The Twins situation demands that we find out if he can fulfill his promise. I can't think of an unsettled pitching staff that didn't have at least one pleasant surprise. Last year it was Diamond. I want to see what Deduno can do with a full year. Someone will shock us when given the chance. Who will it be this year? Vasquez? Duensing? Who knows?
  22. Don't trade Morneau, Span, Willingham or anyone else. Sign Marcum and Haren. Twins win! Twins win!
  23. In 2013 Justin Morneau wins the American League MVP as the Twins win the AL Central, only to be eliminated in a 1 game playoff by the Toronto Blue Jays.
