  1. Now the Twins need a spot for Arraez. Left field? (I hope not.) Will Polanco or Arraez be traded? Perhaps Miranda will be traded, since KF plays a Gold Glove 3b? Please, don't trade a major league hitter for any kind of hitter. Please.
  2. My immediate impression is YES!!!! We've got a solid fielding SS who is an OK hitter, and he will be able to fill the whole until the system can provide an upgrade. Its too bad about Garver, but we saw last year that he is replaceable. Please, let this be just the first of a flock of trades.
  3. I remember seeing Twins Daily being promoted on the Strib. (Maybe that was the TwinsCentric column.) Anyway, I read it and joined and I read you most every day since. By the way. The TD staff has done an excellent job providing content during this *!@#!!! lockout.
  4. Control. I hope they find out at what speed he can throw, while hitting his spots around the plate. Control is at least as important as speed. Once he has that control and then increases his speed... then we have a potential major league pitcher.
  5. I'd rather have a slick fielding shortstop that can hit a little. hmmmm. Sounds like Simpson to me.
  6. ...and I liked the trade at the time. I disliked Hicks and felt he didn't prepare and played under his potential. As I remember it, Murphy had decent numbers in 2 partial years with the Yankees. Murphy turned out to be uber-forgettable with the Twins. Oh well. I still don't like Hicks. He signs a major contract and *surprise!!!* he got hurt. I wasn't surprised.
  7. Levi Michael! What a timely memory. This is what a top Twins draft pick looks like. 2011 #1 Draft Pick, (30th overall) Never played for the Twins. Never made the Major Leagues. Last played in 2019. He may have been a nice guy and a good teammate, but for the Twins, it was a wasted pick. PS. In 2012 Byron Buxton was the #1 Twins pick. (2nd overall, after Carlos Correa.) and Jose Berrios was the #32 overall compensation pick.
  8. I think those are interesting choices, however, if Rooker has been working on his defense this winter, and continues to improve his routes and his throws, he could be a surprise fixture in left field. He'd certainly be better than Delmon Young and Josh Willingham.
  9. If I remember correctly, there have been other Twins prospects that improved their batting skills as they faced better pitching. The more reliable the pitcher is, the easier it is for some batters to hit. This is especially true for players with a talent for selective hitting. When the computer is calling balls and strikes, Sabato could excel. Although Sabato seems like an odd choice for a first pitch, perhaps he was hands down the best player available at the time. Besides, what's wrong with drafting someone to use as trade bait?
  10. Dump Donaldson and let Miranda play every Day.
  11. Until Larnach proves he is a superior AAA hitter, the Twins should not make any plans to promote him again to the Twins.
  12. I don't look at this as a rebuild. This is a chance to find out who has the ability and temperament to be a Big League pitcher. If this is the way the Twins do it,, this should be a fascinating year.
  13. If someone could find a way to teach players to NOT strike out, they would become millionaires.
  14. This was an interesting read. Personally, I have given up on Larnach. It would be nice to be wrong about him. 2022 will say alot.
  15. Forget Larnach. If he is brought up by the Twins again, I expect he will prove he cannot hit Major League pitching and will be gone forever. Don't give up on Kepler. If he hits well in 2022, he'll probably be a Twin in 2025.
  16. I like that he is only 29 (If he stays healthy). Will he be healthy enough to have a full Spring Training?
  17. Who says Cave is unpopular? Granted, last year was not his best, but a lot of players had bad seasons for a lot of reasons. When Cave is mentioned I think of his many good catches, accurate throws and timely hits that have helped the Twins to victory. Just because you don't like Cave, don't assume that feeling is universally shared.
  18. Too Old. No better hitter than Simmons. Not a better fielder than Simmons. Too expensive. I'd rather use Gordon or Palacios.
  19. I'm thinking Palacios will be added to the 40-man roster and start at SS for the Twins, with Miranda at 3b, Polanco @ 2b and Kiriloff at 1b. What happens to Donaldson & Sano? Stay tuned for further updates.
  20. Yes. Use DH to get players off their feet and their bats in the lineup. I want to see Garver to get around 200 DH at bats, Too bad Sano, Garver and Donaldson are all right hand hitters.
  21. Of the players listed above I would rank Tony Oliva first, then Richie Allen and finally Maury Wills. I would not rank Kaat as one of the top players. Oliva was robbed by his injuries. At the end he would come to bat with his knee wrapped and you could see the bulge from the bleachers, where I sat. He practically had to hit a double to make it to first base. It was sad to see, yet magnificent at the same time. Tony Oliva definitely deserves to be in the HoF.
  22. This occurred to me after I wrote my response: "I wouldn't want to join any Club that would have me for a member." - Groucho Marx
  23. Bah Humbug. A pitcher calculating the advantages of joining the Twins wants: -A ballpark which makes it difficult to get extra base hits and/or home runs, -A defensive team that a pitcher can reasonably expect to prevent excess run scoring, -A relief corps that can be expected to hold a lead. Looking at last year, we have a pitcher favorable ballpark, but we had a terrible defense and for the most part of the season, a terrible bullpen. This leaves the Twins a less than desirable landing place for a quality starter, looking for a home, even if the Twins offer the most money. I would be suspicious of any "top" pitcher that wants to join the Twins. Bah Humbug.
  24. I hope the NL adds the DH. This means we can trade (or give away) Donaldson and make room for Garver/Sano to be our DH. This means that the Twins will NOT bring back Cruz (even though he is my wife's favorite player). Oh well. Sometimes wives need to be disappointed for the good of the team.
