  1. No No No! Dozier doesn't need anything to mess with his .230 average!
  2. Not to minimize the ongoing Nolasco Fiasco, only (only?) 6 of the 9 runs were his. The Twins would have won that game 7-6 if Swarzak would have offered relief and not given up 3 earned in 3 innings. The runs that scored with Swarzak on the mound were the winning runs for the Yankees. Jorge Polanco sure seems like one that should be promoted as soon as possible. He cameo on the Twins, and his performance since he has been back in Fort Meyers is certainly deserving. I hate to see anyone held back because of age. It really seems the most irrelevant factor of all.
  3. Billy Beane. I just love that guy.
  4. While I sympathize with the unearned runs.......... it is still up to the pitcher to limit the damage and pick up the defense. To get shelled after the error is still getting shelled. I sure wish Herman could perform in the show like he does in Rochester.
  5. No one wants to be this year's Morales, either. At least not as he has performed so far. The guy turned down 14.1 million this year. He clearly thinks he is worth more than he is. And it is becoming painfully apparent that the Twins thought he was worth more than he is, too. Maybe things will change. But I doubt it. Even if he ends the season with a .270 average, he is overpaid.
  6. Aren't the Twins on pace for breaking their strikeout record set last year, too?
  7. 30/30/30 even...... includes being a .230 hitter. I sure hope Dozier learns how to hit consistently, too. Fans are very forgiving of his horrible .230's average. What is Colabello's average for the year? Not so forgiving, and Dozier has had multiple streaks of no hits, too, this season. Here's to both of their success.
  8. In Ibarra's defense for Rochester....... while he did come in and give up 3 consecutive singles, a strikeout, and two walks that pushed in 2 runs......... he was taken out of the game with one out and a bases loaded situation that a double play ball would have been the end of the inning, but instead, Pressly was brought in for relief and promptly allowed all three inherited runners to score by giving up a double (his gift to Ibarra), followed by a single to get charged with one run of his own that inning.
  9. It's only one game. I guess Burdi will fit right in. Certainly an attitude that the mother team has become one to use. And the relief coming in and giving up 3 inherited runs fits right in too.
  10. While I am not too optimistic, I am a firm believer of going with the hot bat. Get it while it is hot. I certainly didn't understand his benching after he had two games with 2 hits and then three hits. When he struck out 3 times, sit him the next. That was the right thing. If he is not in the lineup today, it would be wrong. Nope...... lineup posted. No Parmelee. Sitting after a 3 hit game. Ron Gardenhire - the great cooler. Lefty Arcia is in rightfield though, so it can't be because of being a left handed batter.
  11. Nolasco has been the worst (like now) or almost the worst in MLB for average against all year. It currently sits at .322. He makes a whole team a .322 hitter. A whole team!
  12. Joe really needs to step up and be a good player where he is. Moving around a .250 hitter just because he has such a high percentage of your payroll has no merit. How about an outfielder that is a true athletic outfielder that can crush and hit for average and steal bases play in the Twins' outfield? Now there is a novel idea. Joc Peterson, anyone? We can spout career stats all day, but that doesn't get the job done. Now is now, and Joe needs to step up. The team needs him to step up. It is getting to be quite sad. He is even making himself untradeable (yes, we all know he has a no trade clause and would have to approve one).
  13. "Punitive Lohseing" Thanks for making the spelling better. We should register it now!
  14. This is ridiculous. Hicks should at least be in Rochester. Punitive Loshing. Unbelieveable. Fuld has an arm like Revere. Did you see his throw from center to home last night? Just trade the kid then. Things like this make me want Gardenhire/Ryan gone so much. Arcia and Hicks to the Dodgers for Joc Peterson? For the Twin's outfield to look like this is truly a travesty.
  15. Suzuki has been amazing. With his leadership skills I just read about, the Twins should offer a generous extension and keep him in the mix even if his present resurgence digresses to his career, and even if it goes beyond that in a couple years. He is a real pro, and a coach/manager in the making. A young pitching staff needs this. Even if Pinto or the newer propects playing in the lower levels of the organization even arrive, he would be invaluable.
  16. 5. "Oh....... that's right.... I am only hitting right now. Sorry. I just forgot!"
  17. Amazing what can happen if Varva lets them try to score.
  18. ..... and then Pino is given the call. Well, so much for that last statement. Still, no matter how well he does, I bet he only gets one start. Maybe two. We will see if an 87-88 mph fastball translates to success above AAA.
  19. Give Johnson and Logan and Pino all one start, and then bring up May followed by Meyer. OK. I like change. At least it is something, and NOT Diamond. Correia, Deduno, and Nolasco can all sit for a while and I would be happy. Burton, too. Maybe Pino will have a shutout going with 100 pitches going into the 9th and be pulled because you don't want to mess with a 30 year old arm for the one start. May is the only one you want to do that with, eh?
  20. Correia will bring nothing in trade even if he pitches well until the deadline. People aren't fooled. He has been well over .300 batting average against all year. You will get the same now as at anytime...... or nothing. The Twins have no chance with the present staff in the Playoffs if they even get there, which is still very doubtful. If the young pitchers pitch to a 5.00 era........ how have you lost anything? And they could surprise us all. Waiting until their arm is dead in August and have them throwing 120 pitches in AAA is not setting them up for success. Making them wait just frustrates them, and deservedly so. So, let the young guns try to help the Twins get to the Playoffs. May as well have the young pitching seasoned in the bigs when the bats get here. And 24-26 isn't really young anymore. That is getting to be prime time. 20-23 is young. Or....... wait until they aren't young anymore and then find out..... as that seems to be the current "Twins' Way". But then you have 27-30 year old pitchers and you can't bring them up no matter how well they do, because they are old.
  21. I find it interesting that a starter in AAA is "struggling" when they pitch to a line of "three runs on five hits and three walks in 5.2 innings" (Johnson - one out away from what is touted as a quality start for the Twins, and the same line would get a nice headline and it would be reported that they "gave the team a chance to win"). I also think that Pino and Achter will get the Slama treatment and never really get a shot with the Twins, but make for good politics and a winning AAA team for the Rochester fans. Do Twins' fans really want to see anyone other than Meyer and May? Is the front office going to wait until they are at the end of their pitch count for the year or give them an opportunity with fresher young arms?
  22. Playing people out of position, and even in position, but not consistently with the same combination, will continue to bring defensive results like the Detroit series. I sure hope Escobar is not messed with by making the most consistent shortstop on the roster move all over the field. We surely will be playing rotation again. I fear the results. Florimon makes everyone move around even more, unless Gardenhire once more expects someone to play a position they never really played before even in the minors.
  23. All lot of votes for monotony. That doesn't surprise me. Of the choices, I like Morris. But the real catch would be Jim Kaat. I find TK's analysis often as outdated as the "Twins Way". Mostly........ I don't use any of the audio. Just watch the games with other music or multi-tasking.
