  1. Just as some years, no one gets voted into the Hall of Fame, I would vote for NO ROY for the Minnesota Twins. Sometimes, there just isn't a performance the justifies giving the award. This is one of those years. It should be a special award, not something given by default.
  2. I just can't believe it. 3 seasons of losing 96 or more games, and he and Terry are your men for the future. It really is distressing. I feel no hope.
  3. I think Gardenhire would be perfect for the Cubs. Then both managerial and Cubs' trends could continue without pause.
  4. Pitch framing is the saddest comment there has ever been concerning the continued state of humans calling balls and strikes in baseball now that the tech is there to make it right. It is the best stat there is for making the case to let the machines call a true strike zone. When it becomes a contest to fool the human instead of get the call right, it makes a mockery of the game.......... unless one just keeps ignoring it is happening.
  5. Automated ball and strike calling is already 3 to 5 years late. Get on with it already!
  6. Is a 100 million team salary spending, drunken? I don't think so.
  7. ..... and then there was the tanking after the clinch in 2010............ which is really when the culture of losing started.
  8. Buying into unwritten rules is a coward's lament. This magnifies if one is dealing with a position of trust, such as the church or law enforcement or has a fiduciary responsibility .......... or in baseball. There is nothing more cowardly in baseball than intentionally trying to hit a batter, except maybe Juan Marichal hitting Johnny Roseboro in the head with his bat, or Delmon Young hitting the umpire with his bat.
  9. Nice! Absolutely. I just put DEVO on.
  10. What next for game five? Maybe the Red Wings can use one of the Twins' aces to pitch, like the Sox used Buchholz. Oh, that's right, even if this organization wanted to play a card like that, we have no ace at all.
  11. Nothing can make this a successful year. That was an easy one. Even if the right decision is made and Gardenhire and Ryan are gone, it is still a horrible year...... times 3.
  12. It is a scary thing for Mauer right now. I certainly can't live in his head and know what to do. But what about Willingham? Why is he still in the lineup and batting 4th? If the lame duck manager insists on playing him while he is still hobbling, can't he take his walks and strikeouts somewhere else in the lineup? Today's Gardenhire quote was so telling.......... "I can't figure it out," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. For three years he can't figure it out. Doesn't he have a mirror in his house? Can the manager be shut down for the year and try someone else in his position in September. After all, his contract is up. I am so tired of the current "Twins Way", and would welcome a clean house as the new prospects make their way to the majors. Ryan being replaced is part of the solution. Look at Boston. Not doing too bad with their choices...... and they didn't even spend that much money, just what they should spend, and that doesn't mean making the payroll approach 40 Million a year.
  13. Too bad about the bats not showing up for the Miracle and Kernals. The pitching sure did. It would be nice to see the lower minor players breaking a playoff performance record the mother team has established in the last 10 years when it comes to hitting well in playoff games. Maybe the Red Wings can give us something to cheer about. It seems so wrong for the Red Sox to be able to throw a Major League ace in there for the playoffs, even if it is a rehab.
  14. I like Rosario to stay at second and see what happens. If the Twins bring back Gardenhire (would they really??), then it shouldn't matter. Gardenhire loves to have the prospects play positions they didn't play in the minors, anyway. Hey.....he loves to have anybody play positions they didn't/don't play.
  15. With the present management, I wouldn't be surprised to see Alex Presley on the mound and Ryan Pressly sent in to play outfield.
  16. Anything over 90 is rounded off to 100!
  17. Trading for a 28 year old outfielder that has never shown any real shine. It has to be a joke, right? They can try to resign him for 2014, still. I like Morneau having a shot at the playoffs and series. Say hi to Frankie!
  18. If he hits like a pitcher, and throws like a pitcher........ maybe the rest of the teams were right...... he should be a pitcher. I was really rooting for him, though. After his progress last year, and the spring training run, I really thought he would do well. I guess you have to give him one more half season in AAA to see if he can become. He sure is a monster in the field. I really enjoy a center fielder that will dive forward for the ball - something Span would never do.
  19. Is it too late for Hicks to be a pitcher? He hits like a pitcher. .160 something with the Red Wings, even worse than with the Twins. Hitting horrible for a whole year, even in AAA, is something more than a "year long slump". Watching Greinke at the plate last night at Dodger Stadium was a real pleasure - reaching out and taking a low outside corner pitch over the shortstop to drive in the first run...... laying down a perfect bunt later.... it was a real pleasure to watch, and he raised his average back up to .340. We could use a little of that from the everyday players here.
  20. It is too bad that the boys couldn't get a different manager other than Jeff Smith.
  21. When a story like this becomes recurring, to me, it represents a drastic problem with those perpetrating the current "Twins Way". All of them. Over the last decade or so, there are several stories like this, and the players themselves have takes that support there was a problem with the way they were treated, and their performance blossomed when relieved of the "way".
  22. I think one can make a case to keep pitching without being disrespectful. I understand that Albers had been building momentum with 2 complete AAA games in his last two starts. I understand that politely submitting to a manager's call is text book behavior. I didn't mean or say size of balls...... it was just a metaphor........ pick another PC Twins nice one that means the same. As ThePuck points out, it was not a close game at all, and the feat would have been remarkable. I wonder what a young Jack Morris would have done? That, like whether Albers could have accomplished the CGSO in his debut, we will all now never know. I personally feel, with a 7 run lead in the ninth (close game to some?) it was Gardenhire's bad and it should have been completely Albers decision. Maybe it was. I wasn't on the mound. From what we witnessed, there certainly wasn't a polite and respectful case made to say "I can do this.... I would really like you to consider giving me a shot, Mr. Gardenhire. We have a seven run lead, and I would really like to see what happens with the next batter. Perhaps you can give me one more batter?" Maybe Albers will get his first complete game in his next start. It sure was fun to watch, and we could all use a little of that around Twins Territory.
  23. Well asburyjohn and Brock Beauchamp......... you have so many more comments, and certainly are abiding by the rules you create and you are supposed to moderate, no? (particularly ashburyjohn, as you are making assumptions not knowing me at all, as far as what i would do in person.) You must be right. I am so lucky that you, in your omniscient power of deletion, am letting me be your proclaimed laughing stock. I submit and must be trash. But I stand by my comment(s), made on a public, not private board, and I am posting for all to see, and would say it to anyone's face as well. I bet even Albers would agree, and would love to know his response. I have in no way discounted his amazing performance.
  24. Should the one who asks the question "imply" something, or say it, if that is what they really are asking? Should there be only one angle to discuss?
