  1. Mejia is listed, on the roster, as 6'3" / 195..... and Pressly as 6'3" / 210. If Mejia is 195, I am 165 again. That is one plump 195 at 6'3".
  2. Butera is probably thinking.... "I could have done that......" Patience, eh? I am so tired of being patient. May we all live long enough to see the 3rd World Series Banner. The hat trick. I wonder how many on this site actually saw (and remembered seeing/old enough) the other two. And how many saw the series in 1965. Damn Sandy Koufax. 0.38 ERA for 3 games. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIN/MIN196510140.shtml
  3. Halfway... and 3 games out of first in the division, and 5 games out of the cellar. Not very comforting, but a ton better than last year. But never seeming to change.... the pitching still sucks and got little attention.
  4. I hope, as part of the "evaluating", that Hughes is a part of it, too. And Perkins. Stick a fork in that before it gets to the plate. And Pressly.
  5. Hughes looked like he was contemplating his retirement on the bench after he was pulled. I don't blame him. I have a hard time not pulling for Alex Meyer, even against the Twins. But hey... we have Santiago (and not that I miss him, but Nolasco just pitched a complete game shutout last night against the Mariners, who bombed our pitching). I fear this will be a long second half of the season. There sure are a lot of .250-ish hitters on this team. I wish Buxton could hit MLB pitching.
  6. But hit where, is the real question. If they don't make it to the show, and contribute, it is really not going to help the team. Blankenhorn, Cabbage, Paul, Kendrick, Wade (I count 5 bats and 4 arms)...... good luck to us all.
  7. Total bummer. At least he and Stewart got their bonus. Millions. I can't feel that sorry for them, but can identify with the disappointment. Let's hope that Falvey and Levine make better choices in the future than the Ryan regime. Our #1 last year, Alex Kirilloff, a first round high school bat...... out for at least the year with Tommy John and rehabbing.....not on pace to provide value......... another reminder to take the bat? It is a crap shoot, that's for sure. I would still like to be talking about Hunter Greene.....
  8. h2oface, on 15 Jun 2017 - 3:17 PM, said: Since May 7th, his (Santana's) starts were horrible, great, bad, great, very good, horrible, great, very bad. Sooooooo.......... add another horrible, and he caused the start of his meltdown with his own throwing error. Poise? Now since May 7th, his (Santana's) starts: horrible, great, bad, great, very good, horrible, great, very bad, very bad, horrible! An ace? Not on my team. An all-star. Not even close. One amazingly great month does not an ace nor an all-star make. Santana is what he is.
  9. What happened? Didn't anyone tell the rest of the team it was Gibson pitching? That is when they score 10 runs!
  10. Or another Buxton. Didn't he hit .360 in AAA ball?
  11. Or at least, Ben Revere.
  12. Can't wait. It will be just like adding Cody Bellinger.
  13. I don't know what long term good could come of this. The older I get, the less I like the all-star game. The fans that get to vote endlessly, no consideration of the second half of last season..... such a gimmick.
  14. Even though there are a ton of factors that result is stolen bases.... i was interested in how the team average speed is correlating to the stolen bases / caught stealing so far this year. Interesting that the Angels, one of the slowest average speed teams, leads the MLB in stolen bases, and by a good margin. 1. Padres (27.77 mph) 43/18 11th tie 2. Marlins (27.76 mph) 43/10 11th tie 3. Rays (27.58 mph) 44/20 9th tie 4. Twins (27.55 mph) 42/15 13th tie 5. Royals (27.41 mph) 35/8 19th tie 6. Pirates (27.35 mph) 35/24 19th tie 7. Diamondbacks (27.24 mph) 60/19 5th 8. Yankees (27.23 mph) 46/14 8th 9. Reds (27.21 mph) 64/17 4th 10. Rockies (27.15 mph) 27/22 25th 11. Rangers (27.14 mph) 67/25 2nd tie 12. Cubs (27.13 mph) 23/11 28th 12. Nationals (27.13 mph) 59/17 6th 14. Giants (27.05 mph) 42/16 13th tie 15. Phillies (27.03 mph) 30/17 22nd 15. Red Sox (27.03 mph) 44/17 9th tie 17. Dodgers (27.01 mph) 42/13 13th tie 17. Mariners (27.01 mph) 50/18 7th 19. Indians (26.98 mph) 37/14 17th tie 19. White Sox (26.98 mph) 28/20 24th 21. Astros (26.94 mph) 37/19 17th tie 21. Brewers (26.94 mph) 67/21 2nd tie 23. Cardinals (26.9 mph) 40/17 16th 24. Braves (26.86 mph) 31/15 21st 25. Tigers (26.78 mph) 26/20 26th 26. Athletics (26.71 mph) 24/12 27th 27. Angels (26.7 mph) 74/23 1st 28. Mets (26.67 mph) 22/6 29th 29. Orioles (26.48 mph) 16/5 30th 30. Blue Jays (26.12 mph) 29/11 23rd Average = 27.06 mph too lazy / to do the math
  15. I wish that speed would turn into a lot more stolen bases.
  16. Personally, when any MLB team is leading its division in late June, I can't consider them a non-contending team.
  17. No relief. Berrios gives up two, and Molitor and no relief gives up the other two. I really hate seeing Belisle coming into a game. Molitor just keeps marching him out there. Our defensive catchers sure seem to come up with unfortunate passed balls, and wild pitches that they don't catch that sure look catchable. 13 Ks by Boston pitching, and strike out the side all swinging in the 8th. That is a bullpen.
  18. It is not unusual that the one allowed the most save opportunities.... is the one that ends up with the most saves.
  19. Stat me all you want. Pedro even said so himself, and he was talking about the post season. After all, it is the postseason that defines the greatness. I don't need career stats to remember what happened, and neither does he, although it is interesting and welcome info.
  20. The Yankees were Nathan's - and Pedro's - "daddy", for sure. Jepsen was fine, too? Well he was for a while.... just long enough to get fans to accept the good fortune, and write all off season about how good he was. He was until he wasn't. I don't get that feeling about Kintzler, and my spidey sense says that the hard reality and fall is coming real soon now. I hope you are right and I am wrong, because I also don't see a move made to get better in the future.
  21. Who the hell is Melville? Good to see Hughes is not picky. He gives up dingers to AAA players, too. I always think of little league when a professional baseball team only play 7 innings.
  22. The only reason you would go forward with Kintzler as your closer, is that you don't think you can be a postseason team. To enter the postseason with Kintzler as your closer would be waving a white flag.
  23. I miss having Hicks on this team. I don't like that Garver is having to play so much left field so Murphy has a place to be. I hated this trade then, and hate it even more, now, but it is what it is. It took a year in another org, for Hicks, and it took a couple years in another org for Gomez..... advanced stat-ers tried to say both couldn't get better, but that is the problem with some stat based predictions. They can't make people not get better. Good on the Yankees for seeing what our guys couldn't.
