  1. ,436 first batter average. Just what you want in a closer.
  2. Man, now I feel deprived. We ate Alpha-Bits, too! Spelled words that got us in trouble. Very cool. You must be really old.
  3. It could be a good deal. When he totally tanks and is a liability for even AAA, he could be the mascot. It might be a bit of an overpay then, but they would save money on the costume because Astudillo wouldn't need one!
  4. Berrios thru 5 of the 7 inning double header night cap against Boston. Up 1-0, 70 pitches, 4 Ks, no walks, all singles. Gotta go to another game to watch Twins these days..... or at least Twins I really like.
  5. Just Kidding....... ..... but it wouldn't surprise me, as they just keep giving him playing time instead of someone like, say, Jose Miranda........
  6. Breaking news! Twins sign Astudillo to a 5 year, 5 million dollar contract. He pairs up with Dobnak as the long term building blocks of the next wave of great Twins' contenders.
  7. I don't remember any baseball cards on the cereal boxes, and I was 10 in 1965. Collected a ton of Topps and Fleer cards, though. Bubble gum and baseball cards. Topps had the best gum. Watched all the games I could on KELO that we got in Pipestone from Sioux Falls. Don't remember what radio station we listened to. Did long hand division calculations after every at bat of the players batting averages and had tablets and tablets of my "official scoring" of the games I did by hand. What a nerd. Batting average meant something then. Still does, if you ask me. Sometimes, one just saves too much stuff. Who else has one of these? Jim Klobuchar was Amy's father. Those interested can google him.... The Detroit stuff he refers to was the ALCS (2 divisions, east - Detroit - and west - Minnesota -, and I don't even know that it was called the ALCS then), as of couse, they played the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series, in which all games were won by the home team. Kind of weird, looking back, that they used that for the World Series box.
  8. I can't not know Tony "Rally Killer" Diaz at third. He either holds the fast runner, or sends the slow one. And forget about a runner from first scoring on a double. "Rally Killer" will tackle him if he has to, but he won't let him try to score. That is why I liked Eddie. He would occasionally just ignore Diaz and pretend he didn't see him.... and score!
  9. You know that the FO has failed when you are more interested watching games of teams your favorite traded players play for than what was and should be your favorite team. Strangers and visitors and AAAA mish-mash doesn't mean they are my team, does it? It becomes you have to like them because they are what is left of your team, but do you really? Or do you force yourself to?
  10. Here come the low and outside sliders.....
  11. We need a 2 run dinger, Mitch!
  12. Can Cave run for Astudillo, too? Does that mean we bolster the defense and move Astudillo to third and Rooker to first?
  13. That's why they pay him the big bucks
  14. Polanco on second. That is a good start.... Only Burrows and Theilbar left in the pen...
  15. Inherited runners, and one in scoring position. Yikes! At least they only need one out.
  16. Just inept managing to not walk Alvarez.
  17. Just not good managing. Not at all./
  18. Team USA's ragtag team plays for the gold at 5AM. Did anybody see Joe Ryan's 4.1 inning start Thursday AM? The way he handled the plate umpire, and even got a fist bump from him chatting at the end of an inning, was priceless.
  19. Looking at the Bullpen Usage Chart in game summaries is very disturbing and depressing. I am aware of the options. Colome has no future with this team. No reason to not move on, with any other option. They have already decided they don't really care the rest of this season......
