Target Field Staff Places Paper Bags over Minnie and Paul’s Heads

Funny stuff! I love it. -
Amazing how often professional tennis players withstand much more rigorous levels of physical activity for hours..... and stay hydrated and can handle the extreme heat. The Australian Open is always involved with a heat spell, it seems. Baseball players ..... not so much. It really shows how these guys really aren't in that good of shape, and are not coached to be ready with prep the night before, etc. But if one is suffering from heat exhaustion, it is nothing to take lightly, that is for sure.

Article: Revisiting Molitor vs. Lovullo
h2oface replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don't agree. The last two months of 2017 it wasn't a terrible roster. Other than the replacement pickups, it is the same. If it wasn't terrible then, why would the same players be considered terrible now? Other than the same players have been way worse, and the coaches and managers haven't been able to work their observations into getting them out of their funk, which, I do believe, is their jobs. If the player(s) is/are performing well, you don't coach them. You leave them the hell alone. If they are slumping, and not performing up to their previous level or potential, then it is the manager and coaches job to "fix" them immediately if not sooner! This is a classic example of wholesale failure, and the same in Rochester. Other than a few prospects, the whole minor league system is disappointing. Winners have become losers this year. It is very telling to me. All teams have injuries. It is not the injuries. Plenty of teams have more than the Twins. To use injuries as an excuse...... is just being in denial. -

The Front office has filled the injury spots with dumpster diving replacements. It really is pathetic. I like to think things have changed, but with this roster... not much, bottom line. Everyone, every team, has injuries etc. Poor excuse. These guys should be able to play at least .500 baseball. Molitor is just too old. Too old for the new game. This whole team is really sad to watch. So very disappointing. Daily. And now they just stack the roster with tired rejects instead of culture the farm and let them lose like these clowns. Makes one want to just not watch this year. -
Article: CWS 6, MIN 1: Gibby Gets Got
h2oface replied to Steve Lein's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Gibson has gone over 100 pitches now, 4 games in a row. 118, 103, 105, and 113 this game. And the two before that, 101 and 99. For the last 7 games, even with last night, he is an unsupported 1-4 with a 2.96 ERA, 45.2 innings, only given up 39 hits, with 14 walks, 38 Ks, and a 1.16 WHIP. That is a work horse of a pitcher. I hope it doesn't wear him out.- 20 replies

Too bad Morrison can't be sent to Fort Myers and get fabulously readjusted, too.

Two ways to virtually say the same thing. Respect is a judgement. One that doesn't focus.... is lazy. One way uses imagery, and the other seems to come from a suit and tie. But they both say the same thing. -

#1 can't handle AAA pitching so far this year, either. And #3 can't handle high A yet, either. Oh... but let us be kind...... it is a small sample size.... Personally, I think they both just need better, more effective coaching at the MLB level. That is the pitching they need to learn to hit. -
Should we review the TD posters' preseason projections for Buxton and Sano? Maybe MVP meant something other than MVP?

But apparently, you can stay on the prospect list here on TD indefinitely....... like Garver..... wait! There is no longer a #15! Perhaps you can finally not be a prospect on this list! Exactly. Did the full game yesterday with a homer and 2 Ks call for a rest? Is he OK?

Good thing we have a pitcher! It seems that is the only way this team will win these days. Pitchers just can't give up any runs to win. Just ask Gibson. We need to clone Berrios. Thankfully, they did get 2 runs and the pen didn't blow it. It is nice to win a close game. Colon had an ERA just under 10.00 (9.87)for the month of June, coming into this game. And this team could only score 2 runs! He has been pitching like this.... 3.1 innings and 8 runs.... https://www.mlb.com/gameday/rangers-vs-dodgers/2018/06/12/530408#game_state=final,game_tab=box,game=530408 and this.....3.0 innings and 6 runs.... https://www.mlb.com/gameday/rangers-vs-angels/2018/06/01/530267#game_state=final,game_tab=box,game=530267 but the Twins make him look good.- 26 replies

Wow! All but one other in Fort Myers hit ferociously except Sano. In High A ball! Talk about devaluing an asset. Nooooo. Don't trade him. I mean, could you even trade him now? For high value? The only thing you can do is hope he starts hitting. Now 25..... it is not like he is a kid anymore. At least he walked 2 times to go with 2 Ks in the 0-4.

Tyler Jay - a totally failed top 10 draft pick. A college conversion to starter then not conversion to starter and still getting torched in AA ball after 3 years. Add him to the list.

Maybe. It is nice to have someone that can play lots of positions in the field. But not everyone has to. Maybe just one player has to have this versatility. These days, it seems that players can be versatile, but are negatives at every position they play in the field! It might behoove a team to just cultivate a player at the one position, and then play him at the position when called up. Then you have a good fielding (hopefully) player at every position, instead of a bunch of players that are a liability at every position they play, even though the manager thinks they can be plugged in anywhere. I hate it when I watch a game, and just about every player is playing out of position, or not their best position, just to accommodate the lack of the right player for the position. And who the hell is Rupp, anyway? Just another cast off that nobody else wanted. Not the catcher we want, right?

Article: The Gib is Up, Kyle Is For Real
h2oface replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I like home grown players. I always have, and will support Gibson. Jump on the bandwagon, doubters. No need to be too proud to admit you were wrong. So great to see him come of age, and keep it up. Now if the team would just score some runs when he pitches, instead of wasting all these great starts....... -
Article: What's the Deal with Matt Magill?
h2oface replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
When a pitcher or batter is hot, regardless of their norm or projection, to not use them during that time is a manager's mistake. When the run is over, pay attention, and manage with him differently. But don't ignore it when it is happening. -
"Bat first". Positions that aren't bat first? People like to say that about catcher, short stop, center field.... but I call foul. It is always important to be able to hit, and there are always those that play those positions that hit, and hit well, and settling for someone that doesn't is just lazy, even it there isn't an abundance of good hitters, period.

When pitchers aren't their sharpest, and they still only let 2 runs cross the plate in 6 complete...... I feel they pitched better than their line shows, not worse. 105 pitches was plenty (last two starts were 118 pitches/7 innings/2 runs and 103/7/1). That shows a pitcher, and a good pitcher. But once again, the team, bats and pen, lets him down. 1-2 record to show for it. The pen only need to get 9 outs, and they did, after giving up 7 runs.

This front office is irresponsible. We have several pitchers, MLB ready, to do the option dance with and protect the pen. Plenty. Busenitz, Curtiss, Duffey, Mejia, Moya..... and then Gonsalves, Littell, Slegers........... What? We would lose guys like Belisle? Creative use of the DL for dead arms (Reed, Pressly, etc)..... no problem. We need to see these other pitchers, and use them and get them opportunities. What is wrong with this front office? This has been evident for a month, now! Instead, they go out and sign dumpster diving cast offs to block players from opportunities. And the replacement level players with no future like Wilson, LaMarre, Motter, Adrianza, Grossman, Cave, Garver - and the failure of Morrison....... what are they doing? How is this making the team better. We are getting crushed, and by the front office, not crushing it. There, I said it.
