  1. Kirilloff facing some adversity after a quick start. Down to .214 average. Things can change quickly with such few at bats. I see Wander Javier's status has changed from early May return, to unkown. What's up with that?
  2. What is the story on Cruz. It is like playing with a 2 man bench if he cannot play, and that just doesn't seem like the way to go. And any update on Garver?
  3. The best thing that can happen is to have a fresh bullpen, and these guys go up and down on the option train. This could be good, or as good as one can hope for at least, given the personel.
  4. Just about 10 days late sending Hildenberger down. It was so obvious, but they just had to let it get worse and worse. I was surprised that he was on the roster out of spring training after the end of last year and this ST. To give him the 9th today.... what is Baldelli thinking? That he will miraculously change in a day or two? At least he had a few games that he shined to have hope for the remake of his game. This series, it's not just the bullpen. Starters were getting tagged. 9 hits against Odorizzi in 5.1 (18 total against for the game), 12 against Berrios in 5.2 (15 total), and Gibson, who gets the most crap from the boards, 6 against in 5.2 (11 total). The whole staff was pretty bad. Pretty amazing they won two of the 3 one run games.
  5. I had to look it up to see why you were going all -san. https://www.sljfaq.org/afaq/titles.html Houston doesn't seem to have any trouble blowing out Detroit.
  6. Putting Addison Reed on the active roster would be horrible. Like bringing Perkins back that September when it was so obvious it was over for him. Not now. Not for this team. What a waste of 16 million. The guy was productive for what? a month? Maybe 2? I feel for him, but the only other thing to do would be to IL him for a longer period, like 60 days....
  7. I hope not either. It is clear, with pitching decisions that need to be made for next year, that these guys need to get an audition and see how close they really are. They could be. Regardless of all those who think they know, and even get paid to make the decisions - nobody knows until they have the opportunity and get a look. Nobody. Oh..... and Graterol still wants his consonant back.......... good job on Balazovic, though.
  8. So why not trade them ALL right away, while everyone thinks they have hope? Trade for MLB talent all the time, right away, as soon as they show promise. Using the analytical approach, aren't the all important probability odds indicating that would be the best way to build a team, then, since the odds are overwhelmingly indicating that most all picks will fail? Like the all decision to constantly employ the shift. It's all about the odds. Activate the moves by percentage probabilites. And then, with the same reasoning, why ever be concerned with draft picks when it comes to free agency? Even if it is a number one pick, odds are the pick will be a waste of time, anyway.
  9. Walker Buehler was picked at #24 in the first round by the Dodgers!
  10. Tyler Jay. Man, I just don't see the reason to not release him. I mean, he is still in AA! And even though he can have a good game, and has..... add the 3 inherited runners scored to his line and he really tanked another. Don't ya love how a 9 inning game in the minors can be extra innings? 12 Ks in 5 innings. Jordan Balazovic is a monster.
  11. I don't have the stats, or know how to find them, but I remember many times that the shift has hurt us badly, but don't remeber where it has helped. I am sure it might have, but I remember lots of grounders into the shift that were hit where the fielder would have been anyway, even without the shift. I wonder how they keep stats on the effectiveness. I am not a fan so far, at all.
  12. That pitch from Berrios to Otani was so right down the middle with no movement.
  13. Burning Rodgers in a losing effort, and having him in when they were always behind. I can understand one inning to keep it close, and I know that he needed work, but to burn him for at least tomorrow and maybe wednesday with 31 pitches in 11 innings? Odd management. Is that what the analytics say to do? Plus, dropping a position player when you have one out but not on the IL to replace him.... means a bench of 2. Odd again. Not smart odd. So.... we have lost 3 of the last 4, at home, to teams with losing records. The season settles in, eh? There have be so many barely missed homers. And Berrios was really pretty horrible today. 12 hits. More than 2/inning average. What do all you Marwin doubters think now?
  14. One month a year does not make for a reliable option. And the 5 inherited runners scored that created 3 losses ( I think 3, without looking it up, at least 2....) count too in April, even though it was passed on to his teammate's stats. I want him to be good, too. But when he is sucking..... just throwing him out there again the next day does not mean he will change overnight.
  15. And for the last part of 2018, after the all-star game..... 9.00 ERA, 1.81 WHIP, .325 average against. He was really only "real good" in May, and pretty good in June. I want him to be good, too. And I remember the game this year he came in with the bases sacked and mowed 'em down. But facts are facts.
  16. Hmmmmm. And I watch the same games. He has been pretty damn good a few times....... all year. Don't mind the numbers. Baldelli certainly thinks the same it appears.
  17. I wish Rosario would have been on first when Castro doubled to right..... I bet he doesn't stop at third even if the coach tried to hold him. Probably would have scored, too. (.... with Adrianza coming to bat, especially go for it!) But then, I wish he would have been on first in front of Cron's dinger, too.) Three right handed batter homers off of Pineda's right handed deliveries. Add the one off of Hildenberger.... 4/4. So much for the righty/righty thing.\ Hildenberger now has an average against of .333, 1.74 WHIP, and a 5.68 ERA, and this doesn't count the 5 inherited runners scored and passed on to his teammates stats while his ERA was at 0.00 for that opening spell - you know - when he was being written up as being outstanding. The inherited runners were the indication of the future. 6 weeks in.... not really that small of sample now, for a relief pitcher.
  18. Don't need strikeouts with the bases empty.... just 3 outs. 3 quick grounders or fly balls would be just fine, eh?
  19. I would have just stayed with May, there, for sure. Same result could have happened in the 9th, but I saw no reason to use him for just 7 pitches in the front end of a double header. But then, after last season and spring training.... I wouldn't have been giving him such high leverage opportunites from the get go. Not a fan of Hildenberger. Or his style of pitching. I am probably in the minority, but low leverage if he has to be in the bullpen.
  20. What roll our team is on. I hope the bats come ready tomorrow, because with Stewart and Pineda pitching, we are gonna need lots of runs.
  21. I hope he makes consistent contact and has good at bats for 3 days.... and then is a threat in the bigs for the rest of the season.
