    He had that one appearance where all the damage happened. The others have been lights out. With that reasoning, we should release Colome (9.00 ERA, 4 earned with 7 hits in 4 innings, and one was a homer - they both have 7 strikeouts, but Waddell with 3.1 innings) for his first outing on March 3 and move on now. And Tyler Duffey would have no future anywhere. All his outings have been horrible.

    Are walks and hitting the ball hard "underlying stats"? Pretty in your face, and not underlying, from my perspective. I agree. Not controversial. And not underlying. A .222 average is not underlying, either. It is performance. I really look forward, and hope, for a season like 2019 from him. And not underlying, but obvious and flagrant.

    I like your romantic imagery, I really do - however misguided it is. Your advert would be a lie. Have you ever driven for ride share? I have. Both Uber and Lyft to write about it. Cheap demanding riders. Folks too cheap to get a cab, and still don't tip well. In fact, most don't tip at all. They get in your car and act like they own it instead of they are lucky to get to ride in it for 1/4 to 1/5 the price of a cab. The Uber Driver, after expenses of paying their own maintanence, gas, and costs, make, if they are lucky, about $7. per hour, and get no benefits. The riders can rate drivers "not professional" and the platform wants you to be "professional". But get real. There is no training required, and drivers are just people that have a car and you don't or don't want to use it. The Uber Driver is not even close to the American Dream. It is an example of the system taking advantage of the product, the driver, and the driver's having no union to protect their rights or stand up for them. Not even close to the American Dream. Sad that many think it is. Before you call it "the epitome of the American Dream", you might want to take the drivers' seat for a month of 30-40 hours a week, and then see what you consider the truth.

    Great news that Simmons is in camp! Amazing how badly Dyson fooled Falvey et al. Does he even count as a Twins' reliever? Not in my book. People will never let the Uber stint go when it comes to Dobnak. Something so irrelevant. The Uber Driver.

    He's right. The bats are already in 2020 form.

    Creative contract with incentives that allow him to be one of the highest paid players if his time on the field and performance dictate it. Have it be fair and attractive if he can't or doesn't. It really is too bad that not all players are paid their value each year, and are not ripping the team off when they don't. In a more perfect world........

    Any place it is suggested to put Astudillio makes me cringe, including at the plate. He should be a perfect fit in St. Paul, though. And Arraez, at 5'10", an inch taller, at first base? I hope not.

    Yup. It's just not that simple. That's for sure. The tons more misses than scores prove that every year. A high failing percentage, like batting average, still keeps one their job in Baseball. Oh well.

    I get this reasoning. It is traditional, to be sure. But the job is to be the scouts, the FO that is not trapped in the box, have the same top 10, and to be able to see it in advance, and to be the ones that pick a Chapman and Turner, which turn out to be the correct pick, before others do, especially when you have that advance pick. That is the job. Just because 18 or 25 (Trout) other teams and staff fail, doesn't mean it is acceptable if you do (or maybe it is, eh?). But then, I don't mind dreaming, or disappointment. Their job is to see or project the future better than the other guys. Hard to do, for sure. But since that is their job, I think it is always fair to say they should do it better than the other guys, and hope and even expect them to. It sure beats the "oh well" attitude.

    Simmons still not here. Damn. There has to be a better way to manage this kind of thing. It seems that the team should be more involved, and have better management about it, and clauses in contracts for the employed to comply. Maybe they do. But for this to happen seems so delinquent to have it come to this when the day roles around. If he is still "waiting for his appointment to be set in Curacao to get his paperwork taken care of", it doesn't seem even close at this point! The spring needs to be spent getting Polanco ready at second, and the teamwork of Simmons and Polanco fine tuned. If Simmons doesn't show up, we will have a real problem with the process. I hope they separate the wheat from the chaff this year and we don't see Astudillo anywhere but in St Paul's CHS Field.

    It sure would be nice to see Thorpe blossum. We need a lefty starter badly. Well, make that a real good lefty starter......

    Well, I get the sentiment. And even the best hitters and pitchers and even Simmons could fail/flail at anytime. But when there is a history of that happening in general, the extra pressure certainly makes it more likely, and that was proven out once more by both Polanco and Arraez as we set the 18 game record. That short Polanco throw...... And I certainly hope it won't be just a 2 game sample size the next round.

    It sounds good, and looks kinda good on paper........ but it sure didn't work out well with the money on the line in the playoffs last year.....

    Just yesterday.... "Royce Lewis has been the Twins Daily choice for the Twins #1 prospect each of the past three years. This year, he drops to #2 on the list, but his ceiling remains very high." The fall begins. Still even in today's top 10 now? What is the California Kid doing in Texas during the 100 year powerless freeze out? This is just classic. The high school Number 1 pick won't be seen in the show until he is 24 or 25 I bet. If at all. I mean, project all you want, one of the talk matters. I feel sorry for him. I feel sorry for the Twins and us fans. It really amazes me how injuries seem to get more and more frequent for these healthy young players, with all the sport's science and training progression. It dosn't seem to be helping. Injuries seem to be more and more frequent, instead of less. And he could have been traded for a fine arm........ we better hold on to all of them until their value is gone, because writing about them and talking about what they could be is paramount.

    I get that the hitters and pitchers are spaced out..... but I don't get that the pitchers and catchers can't be together, and the rest of the offense separate. Is it there just isn't room in the minor league digs? I don't get it. Adding the catchers to the pitchers locker space........ are there just too many? And of tjhat is the case, how about at least Garver and Jeffers? Just the two that plan to be the catchers this season?

    Donaldson needs to hire a masseur/masseuse full time and spend some of those bucks to make sure his calves don't take him out this year.
