  1. Before today with the bases loaded they were: 13/39. .333/.329/.513. Batting average they would be 8th in the league with the bases loaded. With runners in scoring position: 198/457. .298/.369/.451. Batting average wise they would be 4th in the league with RISP.
  2. But when you are talking an extension like the original post brought up you HAVE to care about thinks like xFIP, FIP, K/9, BABIP and career numbers. He has pitched well this year, there's not doubt about that, but you have to take things into consideration. The bulk of every statistic out there say he cannot keep up an ERA in the 2.50 range, nor should we expect it, especially, especially when bringing up an extension.
  3. His results have been ace like, but he is not an ace. He is pithcing well lower than his FIP and xFIP suggests. It's encouraging to see his BB and groundball rate down, but he should be viewed as nothing as higher than a 3 in any rotation. I would enjoy the ace like results while it lasts, a regression to the mean is likely in store for him.
  4. While they could lose more games than last year, I wouldn't say it would be an easy task. The 2014 Twins went 70-92. The 2015 Twins are currently 32-23. Which means to have MORE losses than last year they would have to finish from here on out with a 37-70 record, which would equate to playing .346 baseball, which equates to a 106 loss team over a full season.
  5. I think the obvious answer here is Arcia. Let him work out his post injury funk in AAA and he will be back. He probably has more power from the left handed side than anyone in the system.
  6. After Joe's 2-4 day and Hick's 0-3 day, Mauer leads HIcks by 29 points in batting average, 50 points in OBP and 80 points in SLG.
  7. Hopefully this little run of subpar play will force their hand to be proactive and make a couple of moves.
  8. I think the Twins are still serious about him playing 3B, hence the reps every day at 3B. I am also guessing they see the larger picture.....like can he stick at 3B, rather than switching positions mid season in order to rush him to majors and try to pass him off as a RF or 1B this season.
  9. Mauer has also hit off the charts with runners on, and he doesn't strike out nearly 35% of the time, not to mention Rosario's OBP of less than .300 should be no where near the top of the lineup right now.
  10. I was there from the beginning of BYTO and back to the ESPN board days. User names ranged from sampat2 on espn to MTtwinsfan34 on BYTO. I'm glad there are some left!
  11. Throw back to the BYTO days.......WINNAH! http://gwally.com/avatars/images/ohhellsyeah.gif
  12. With only 1 out why would he be running? Certainly looked catchable to me.

  14. Escobar says.....SEE I CAN HIT HOMERS! PUT ME BACK AT DH.
  15. By doing that you pretty much completely kill any value Milone has.
  16. We are really beating this DH topic into the ground right now
  17. I hope they play well this afternoon. Most threads on TD are getting a bit.....chippy.
  18. Not only the prospects he would cost, but he's making 8M this year, has an arbitration year next year then would likely warrant a big time contract. Paying a reliever 10+ mil a season to throw like you 70 innings a season is too much, especially for a franchise like the Twins. That being said, he is a helleva pitcher.
  19. Excellent game thread post always. On the weather front, it looks cold and overcast. 51 degree game time temperature with a slight breeze to the NorthEast.
  20. I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, I looked around a bit, but an article from Anthony Castrovince of mlb.com. Outlines a lot of things posters have brought up in the baseruns thread. A lot of stats, a nifty Hicks catch video and worth a read. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/128047826/anthony-castrovince-5-signs-twins-arent-fluke
  21. I agree. If the Twins are still in the hunt on July 31 and Pelf is still pitching well, he should be in there helping the team. If the Twins go on a bad streak and fall back in the races and Pelf is still tossing well, by all means get what you can for him.
  22. We can imagine how this went all you want or you can throw out that Cameron had an objective when going to right the article and used historical statistics to outline what the Twins have been so far this year. Their stats have also shown that the Twins projections of making the playoffs have went from 3% before the season to 27% just 1/3 the way into the season. Take it was a grain of salt, enjoy the good baseall and let's not assume that Cameron is just out there to anger us hardcore fans who are walking around with a smile on my face in June because of Twins baseball....and not because of Vikings OTA's are starting.
  23. I liked the extension, but certainly saw the downside of it, especially if last year was going to be an outlier for him. Hopefully he can maintain into the 2nd half of the season this year. His power really took a bump down last year in the 2nd half.
  24. Here's a question. There were a big group of people who didn't care for the extension that Dozier got this offseason. With him on pace to better his 5.1 WAR season from last year, that extension is looking better and better. What would a player's 1st year of arbitration look like coming off 2 straight 5+ WAR seasons? Especially playing in the Top 5 of players at his position?
