  1. No Torii in the lineup and Sano takes his first crack at hitting cleanup.
  2. I would say it means the end of Thompson, especially for this season. Now if ROR gets the job done and they trade for a guy such as Cotts from Milwaukee.......I would see no reason that Duensing would have job then.
  3. In hindsight obviously it didn't matter because they didn't score and Sano's spot wouldn't get up again. If you play the what if scenario, what if there was a double and Sano was held at 3rd and they didn't score. Or if after the stolen base there was a single Nunez scores on where Sano would be stuck at 3rd, or even 2nd. Obviously I have never seen Sano run much outside of the his limited play in for the Twins this year, but I would have assume Nunez is quicker. It didn't matter, but I don't mind the decision to pinch-run. This same scenario could be used for the Perkins talk that has been going on. Do you use him in the 8th and/or 9th to held extend the game, or wait and use him later IF the game gets that far?
  4. Oh I am surely not convinced. He has only thrown 20 innings this year. In those 1st 12 innings he stuck out 5 compared to 9 walks and gave up 19 hits. In the last 8 he has struck out 5 compared to 1 walk and only given up 2 hits. Gives a little hope that he can be a positive member of the pen going forward.
  5. Though it's a SSS, lefties have hit Duesing a lot better than righties this season. It's been since 2011 where Duesing was actually quite dominant against left handed hitters. Duesing hasnt' given up a run in his last 8 innings, and the last runs he gave up were on that Moreland double to CF....a ball I still think Hicks should have caught. I like the O'Rourke for Thompson move, though I think it should have been done a week or two ago.
  6. As per MLBtraderumors.com: The Twins and Brewers have had some preliminary trade chats, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer-Press reports (Twitter links). It is not clear precisely what players were under discussion, though Berardino indicates that Milwaukee lefty Neal Cotts could hold some appeal to Minnesota. Cotts would certainly be an upgrade over Thompson at this point. 9.74 K/9 and lefties hitting .190/.224/.309 against him. Also has 18/2 K/BB against lefties with 60 batters faced. He is on a one year deal and is 35 years old, so would be certainly a half season rental, but he would add value, IMO.
  7. Do you know if there is a mandate as to how many pitchers/hitters must be selected to be on the team?
  8. I would say the upside would be....simply not having to try and fit him in somewhere in the middle of the playoff race when they have 6 other starters on the roster. A blessing in disguise.
  9. And it would have looked pretty dumb id Nunez would have doubled and Sano had to be held up at 3rd base.
  10. I agree with that, but Boston did need a rep and I would say he is deserving. Then again......he could have picked Bucholz for Boston and left that hitting spot for Dozier.
  11. Vote for Brian! Vote for Brian! Vote for Brian!
  12. Let's walk off and give May a make up win for the many times the offense has screwed him this year!
  13. And he does not go with Britton.
  14. This feels like an ample time foe Sano's first HR.....
  15. 1 pitch, 2 outs. Atta boy Duenslinger.
  16. Great catch.....or extremely lucky? Either way, I'll take it!
  17. Holt is having a pretty nice season.
  18. Can grampas do this, bro? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75QTzMGY8xA
  19. Sano wanted to place that one deep in the upper deck
  20. Vote Dozier! Already got 25 in myself. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2015/fv/ballot.jsp?tcid=EngRD-ballot-2015
  21. I think because then it become's a fielder's choice. If the 2nd baseman throws home and gets the runner it's an out, but if he goes to 1st and allows the run to score, it's an RBI groundout. A sac fly is usually a fly deep enough into the OF, where the outfielder doesn't have a play, hence the run scores. Or just how I see it.
  22. Hunter was the only runner technically caught stealing in the series. Both Santana and Rosario were picked off, which are very much on the player inexperience and not the manager. In the two losses combined they had one sac bunt. You don't win games scoring a combined 4 runs on 12 hits. The Twins went 1-9 with RISP today, that's why they lost.
