  1. No. Competing and realistically winning a world series are two very different things. Perkins is an elite arm, locked up cheap for 3 more seasons and the anchor to the bullpen and is only 32. Trading him makes about zero sense for this team right now with the direction they are headed.

  3. Dave, do you ever find a reason not to blame Molly for a loss? They had a 5-0 lead, one of the best sluggers of all time hits 3 homers, Perkins blows his 2nd of 32 save opportunities. It happens. Does it sting? Yes. But it happens.
  4. I think that's a really good comparison. Danny makes some players that just make you sigh......then he goes and makes a fantastic play like he did last night. I'm hoping Danny matures defensively and finds it, something Casilla never could do.
  5. What happened to BYTO poster CCNeedsaBathia? I say under and he give up 4. Twins go on to win 5-3.
  6. You can take offers, but realistically there is no market for Boyer or Fien. Boyer's smoke and mirrors of the first half are lifting and Fien just hasn't been.....well....good this year. As for Duensing, he might have a little value, but he has been very effective now in his last 10 appearances (12.2 IP, 3H, 2BB, 9K, 0ER) and as a contending team, how do you get rid of that, especially with this bullpen? I would start with a DFA to Boyer and call up.....someone and if Fien doesn't pick it soon, I send him to AAA and call up someone else.
  7. I think the Twins are in a great place with Plouffe. With 2 years of arbitration left and with Sano on the roster, they have the liberty of again offering him a 1 year deal or taking the arbitration number if they aren't satisfied with an off-season trade offer. I'm sure Trevor wants a long term deal, but he still makes $5M+ next year regardless and an extra year of control is mighty handy in trade talks.
  8. Just saw Sano's HR. Good God. To have the power to hit that to center is amazing. Add to the fact he knew it was gone, man this kid is going to be good.
  9. No relation on innings and injuries but whatever general fatigue and numbers being down the year after? I'd like to see something like that.
  10. Any evidence it's bunk? Verducci's pre-season writeups are usually pretty good. He had 10 pitchers he red-flagged for the 2014 season based age and innings increase in 2013 and I think 7 of those 10 experienced some sort of arm trouble in 2014. I'll try and find the article, but I am pretty sure most teams abide buy into the effect these days.
  11. I too think that May should be in the rotation, but Milone has had a very nice season thus far. Before this last start where he got knocked around he had 7 starts in a row with 2 or less ER. No reason to take him out of the roto. NO better candidate to lose their spot than Pelfrey.
  12. I'm going to wait to see any deadline deals before I make a post. If he isn't in the rotation after the deadline, then I will really be questioning it.
  13. And Tonkin. I am guessing the majority will get chances in September. At this point who do you replace? Not Perkins, Duensing has been a lot better, O'Rourke just came up and has looked good, they have kept Graham this long, he likely isn't going anywhere. That leaves May, Fien and Boyer. I can't see them DFA'ing Fien. You have May and Boyer then.
  14. I think the writing is on the wall for Boyer and he is definitely the next one gone. I am hoping that Berrios continues to pitch like he did last night in AAA and possibly see him start a few games for the Twins this year, that's why I would rather not see him in the bullpen.
  15. OOTP, or Out of the Park Developments, is an baseball simulation engine game. They have MLB rights so you can start with roster sets that include just about every player in each MLB system. It is by far the most in depth statistical game I have ever played.
  16. John is right that was a problem before the game was patched. I also play way too much, I actually am the commish of an online league that's been around since 2010, fictional but still a great time.
  17. I can't imagine that was anyone's idea but Trevor's.
  18. Just based on this piece: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/orioles-appear-willing-to-discuss-kevin-gausman-in-deals.html it kinda seems the opposite and certainly not giving him away.
  19. Gotta love OOTP.. He will take Nolasco!? Do it! Do you play with OOTP often?
  20. And as a rookie last year he went 16-4 with a 3.04 ERA and 3.26 FIP, while he strikes about 8 per 9 innings. He pitched a very, very good game last night, but he isn't just a scrub.
  21. The fact that there are only 3 hitters right now with WAR over the age of 30 while there are 23 hitters in that same group under 30 makes me say.....it hasn't gotten out of hand. The same could be said about starting pitchers. There are 5 out there with a WAR over 2.5 over the age of 30. while there are 15 in that same category under 30. Some players age well, some players don't. Fact is Tulo hasn't been the same player with the stick nor with the glove since that hip surgery in 2014. Will that change? Chances are slim considering his age....
  22. Oakland is just having a really strange year. Their starters have been 2nd in baseball in terms of ERA this season while their bullpen has been a cluster ranking 3rd to last.
  23. I've seen you bring up the banked wins and 9 over at the ASB, but I really think there's more than just looking 1 number. Twins records by month: April 10-12 May 20-7 June 11-17 July 9-7 They had a great month in May, in the other 3 months combined they are under 500 though. You can keep looking at May and the inflated record and assume that this team is THAT good, or that this team is still coming back down and is more than likely a 500 type ball club, which 95% of us would have been ecstatic with before the season. There are a lot of holes and I don't see how someone couldn't look to next season with E. Santana the whole season, Sano and Buxton with reps under their belts starting from Day 1, Stauffer and Boyer not in the pen, a Berrios with tons of potential getting a shot the bigs, etc and not see a team as talented or if not more talented than the one they have had on the field all year.
  24. There's just no chance of Hunter getting traded. He didn't sign a 1 year deal with the Twins to be traded mid-season. Also...why would the O's even consider moving him that cheaply?
  25. And he has played 140+ games in his 8 year (not counting his rookie season or this year) just 3 times. He has also played less than 105 games in a season 3 times in his career. If he you could guarantee his health and averaging 140 games for the rest of his contract it would be a much different situation.
