  1. That's an interesting take.....and I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's what happens.
  2. Just a personal opinion. Shields will turn 34 this offseason and is on pace for his 9th straight season of over 200+ innings. I'll be honest, I just don't trust aging pitchers. If you are going to pay $21M for a pitcher for his 34-35-36 seasons while giving up your 21 year old, #1 ranked pitching prospect on the verges of the major leagues.......you better be ready to say this is our window right now and this guy is make or break. I'd rather see Berrios be used this year or win a spot in the spring, and that $21M be spent on 2 bullpen arms and an upgrade somewhere else for the future, but then again....it's just a personal opinion.
  3. Fine, I will use more than a 1 year sample. In a 3 year period Tulo has been worth exactly 1.0 WAR than Dozier. The original poster said he doesn't think that Dozier is the type of player you build around. He didn't say that Tulo was, but based upon his reputation, Tulo would seem to be one of those guys. Based on a 3 year sample, their value has been fairly equal....and that's with Tulo playing half his games in Colorado. Take it for what it's worth.
  4. IMO, Give me the potential of Berrios over the next 10+ seasons over Shields in his 34-35-36 year old ages.
  5. They aren't going to eat 70+ million dollars to release him. As soon as this gets through everyone's heads the better.
  6. http://www.freep.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2015/08/04/detroit-tigers-dave-dombrowski-avila/31121309/ His contract was up at the end of the season, but interesting move regardless.
  7. Judging a player by his batting average is very short sighted. No player has 23 HR in the first week of June anymore, that is a pace to hit 55+. Dozier is Top 3 in all of baseball for WAR for a 2B, has nearly twice the HR of any player playing the position. His WAR is more than twice of the WAR of everyone's man crush Tulo...what's that say for "awesome players?"
  8. I think it's obvious at least defensively Polonco isn't ready yet. I can see him up in September, but I'm guessing for now they want to give him everyday reps while they can. I think almost everyone would like to see Arcia up in platoon against RHP and PH situations and I believe it will come, but right now they feel content on giving him everyday AB's, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him sooner than later. I would assume it would be pretty low chance we see Berrios before September. IMO, having him keep starting in AAA, where he has only been a short time, is better than him in the pen pitching a handful of innings per week. There are several candidates that IMO should have replaced Boyer months ago.
  9. One I didn't understand either. O'Rourke should have started that inning and Jepsen should have been brought in to face Cruz. We have seen numbers about how much better Jepsen is against right handed batters, it made zero sense to bring him in to start an inning with two lefties.
  10. Palacios just sounds like a baseball name. Awesome to see of the recent draftees making the list as well!
  11. Considering the Jays have been about 10 games better since the Twins since June 1....
  12. Eddie has to learn to lay off pitches like that, that thing was damn near over his head
  13. Price was obviously afraid of Hunter after showing him up in the 2nd inning.
  14. I kind of hope Sano doesn't even know what a bunt is
  15. Great stroke by Zuke, let's get that lead back!
  16. I very much enjoyed Donaldson flailing at that and looking confused afterwards. Great way to work out of that jam Santana
  17. Mauer also hitting 6/34 against Price. Good for .176/.263/.206, good decision to bench him today. And yes you post everyday you would cut him, it's not going to happen.
  18. Either way it's really tough to win a game when you score 1 run.
  19. I guess it cold be argued if Arcia was hitting or if Buxton wasn't hurt we might be seeing a lot less of Hunter in the everyday lineup
  20. I'm just forwarding on information. If Duffey comes out and throws a quality start is it still a bad decision?
  21. Oh Christ there is there one than one way to rebuild. Rebuilding doesn't meant don't sign anyone, don't play anyone over the age of 24 and go at it. Who exactly was going to play if a lot of those guys weren't signed? Most of the signings you listed were little to no risk low cost signings use to fill holes while they were rebuilding. Hughes, Santana and Nolaso represented signings towards the next step.
  22. Twins came out today and said he wasn't stretched out and didn't want to waste a day of the Toronto series for a bullpen day.
  23. I remember seeing posts how it was very unlikely the team could still finish worse than last year's team but not under .500.
