  1. That raises a question actually. With Santana out with the suspension, could they add anyone like you would with an injury?
  2. The Twins are third in the league having 442 PA with 0-2 count this season. Leading this category Milwaukee with 454. Meanwhile on the other hand, Twins pitchers are right in the middle, getting to an 0-2 count 392 times, ranking them 16th in the league
  3. His piece said their top target was Gibson and they also were interested in Sano. For all we know it could have been Gibson+Sano. They could have been willing to give up Gibson, but Sano was the deal breaker. Who knows. I just think saying the Twins wouldn't give up Gibson for Tulo is mis-informed and using a small piece of information to make assumption you couldn't possibly know the answer to.
  4. Ohhhhh good point. I must dig deeper into this now.
  5. I can't wait until about 2 years from now when it's a known fact that the Twins turned down Gibson for Tulo because of posts like this keep highlighting the fact we talked about it on the site.
  6. That was Rosario's 10th OF assist this season, tied with Adam Jones for 5th in the MLB. He only trails Leonys Martin, JD Martinez, Avisail Garcia and Kevin Kiermaier.
  7. Damnit! I was too busy looking up stats and missed Sano's HR. Was it a bomb like usual? What part of the field?
  8. I love the way you can search on baseball-reference, I could spend far too much time looking through random stats and situations.
  9. Sano has 1. Plouffe 2, Dozier 2, Mauer 1, Hunter 1, Rosario 1
  10. I'll keep going. The Twins lead the MLB in 0-2 RBI, BY A LOT. They have 44 RBI on an 0-2 count, the next closest team is the Giants with 33. Trevor Plouffe is 2nd in the MLB with 0-2 RBI with 11. The Dodgers are last and as a team have 13 0-2 RBI.
  11. I suppose it does. Before I looked it up I would have assumed the Twins had given up a lot more than that. Interestingly enough in those 8, 0-2 HR the Twins have hit, there has been: 1 Grand Slam 3 3-R HR 2 2-R HR 1 Solo HR When the Twins hit 0-2 HR, they take advantage.
  12. Let's see.....all RBI on an 0-2 count: there have been 18 times where an RBI has happened on an 0-2 count. This resulted in 22 runs total. 2 Home Runs 9 singles 4 doubles 2 sac fly 1 HBP Those 22 runs would rank the Twins tied for 13th. Washington would be 1st, giving up 15 runs on 0-2, while Detroit is dead last giving up 35 runs on 0-2. Cleveland leads all teams by giving up 9, 0-2 count HR this season. Who has hit the most 0-2 HR this season? You guessed it, your Minnesota Twins with 8.
  13. According to a little study at baseball-reference.com, it's only the 2nd 0-2 HR off of Twin's pitching all season. The other was Victor Martinez off of Hughes. Study here
  14. 0-2 count....are you #%&king kidding me!!
  15. Hicks isn't going to have a choice. If Buxton and Hicks are on the same team in the same outfield, Buxton will be in Center.
  16. I would be curious to see what Millone could bring back. Controllable left handed starter who has shown some big league success......it would have to be more than nothing. Outside of his 3 post-AS game starts that could be attributed to injury, he has had a pretty season.
  17. I am going to agree with you there. If they waited until after the Lookouts were completely done, I see zero reason not to bring him up for the last 2-3 weeks of the season, especially because he's already on the 40 man roster.
  18. If they don't plan on bringing Robinson back next year, which I this point I don't see why they would, I don't see why they should have a problem exposing him to waivers with a month left to go. Can you imagine if they waited until after Sept 1 on Buxton and the team went on a tear and made the playoffs and he wasn't available?
  19. I'm very against trading Buxton for anything, I'll clear that up and agree with you there. I think the consensus to trade form Buxton/Rosario/Hicks comes with the opinion that they would have more value than Arcia/Kepler/ABW. This would come in handy if they were targeting something like a catching upgrade.
  20. Why would they trade all 3? That leaves the OF going forward with Buxton, Hicks and Rosario and little to no depth in the minor leagues. That's not really ideal.
  21. With May heading back to the pen, if they were to recall Vargas, I would guess Achter back to AAA until September 1st.
  22. If we are moving Plouffe off of 3B, I would have to assume he has more value to the Twins in a trade rather than moving him to a crowded OF situation, especially with a long contract looming or more than likely 6+M in arbitration or a 1 year deal.
  23. I really don't see how NOT trading young depth is missing the boat. Hicks is finally starting to look like a MLB player, Rosario has shown glimpses as a rookie but nothing over whelming. Meanwhile Buxton has played in 11 games and Kepler has 0 AB above AA ball. With Arcia struggling in the minors, unless you are completely blown away from an offer than fills other holes, it seems like a mistake to deal from the group. My view on Hunter is......the Twins OF didn't look good coming into the season and an extra bat was needed. He helped the team early on, but lately has really shown his age. At this point, I don't see how you give him another year the way he has played.
