  1. How about this one? 'The 2002 Minnesota Twins: From Contraction to Contention."
  2. Loved watching this show when it re-aired on ESPN Classic in the 90's. A sad note about the show....The host, Mark Scott, died of a heart attack shortly after the lone season aired. The series was then cancelled rather than proceeding with a new host.
  3. After an off-season of Twins fans wallowing in self-pity as to why the top FA SP's wouldn't pick Minnesota, we finally have an "in" with one of these 2021 FA's! James Paxton makes his off-season home in Eau Claire (90 minutes from Target Field) to be closer to his wife's family. And he's a big fishing fan. https://www.mlb.com/news/getting-to-know-yankees-lefty-james-paxton-c303341582
  4. Joe Nathan was inducted last year, Cuddyer in 2017, and Guardado in 2013.
  5. Yeah, we all know what's out there. The options have been bandied about here for 3 months.
  6. I'm in the midst of watching Shameless. 10th season just aired on Showtime, but the whole series is available on Netflix. Pretty funny, a little raunchy, very entertaining!
  7. I'd go with the Collin McHugh suggestion...Not sure why he isn't on this list. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/mchugco01.shtml
  8. Umm, like who? Mitch Moreland is about the only FA 1B left that I can think of. And Cron signed with Detroit before Christmas.
  9. Doogie indicates that Tyler Duffey and Twins have settled at $1.2 million.
  10. They're also not going to throw Hill and Bailey under the bus by saying something like "We struck out on some (all?) of the players that we had targeted, so had to sign whatever scraps were left...."
  11. Here's the breakdown of Hill's incentives: $1 mill for 5 GS or 25 IP $1 mill for 7 GS or 35 IP $1 mill for 9 GS or 45 IP $1.5 mill for 11 GS or 55 IP $2 mill for 13 GS or 65 IP $3 mill for 15 GS or 75 IP
  12. I'm going to guess that many teams (and agents!) underestimated how high the demand and prices would get on starting pitchers. Twins might've gone after Gibson and Odorizzi definitely would have declined his QO.
  13. More updates: Bailey’s contract includes a $7MM guarantee, per Jon Heyman of MLB Network (via Twitter). He also has some incentive pay available, but only if he gets up to 180 innings. Hill is guaranteed $3MM, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com tweets. His contract includes a hefty $9.5MM in total available incentives which can be met by recording only 15 starts and/or 75 innings thrown.
  14. On Hill: Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the deal carries a $3 million guarantee.
  15. Why not just ride off into the sunset after last year's emotional farewell in Seattle then? https://www.seattlepi.com/sports/baseball/article/It-was-time-King-Felix-bids-emotional-farewell-14472284.php I think most veterans, even potential future-HOFers, trying to stave off the end of their playing careers accept minor league contracts with a non-roster invite to ST.
  16. Hoping that the FO can uncover another Odorizzi or two out there. His numbers were decent, serviceable in Tampa Bay and it only took something called Jermaine Palacios to obtain him.
  17. https://www.mlb.com/breaking-news/david-price-red-sox-trade-possibilities Some noteworthy items from the article: - Among the teams in play for Price are the Padres, Cardinals, White Sox and Reds, while the Angels have also been in contact with the Red Sox. - Moving Price might actually be easier, despite the remaining financial commitment and the left wrist injury that cost him most of the final two months of the 2019 season. Prior to the wrist injury, Price was having a terrific year, going 7-2 with a 3.16 ERA through his first 17 starts. While many viewed Price's contract as being a significant impediment to a potential trade, the recent activity on the pitching market has aided Boston's cause.
  18. Doubtful, but perhaps Steven Matz.
  19. For some reason I am listening to the audio livestream of the AAA portion of the Rule 5 draft...The Twins have lost 2 minor leaguers in this portion so far: Andriu Marin https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=marin-000and Brian Schales https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=schale000bri
  20. I wouldn't be surprised to see Castro join Shelton in Pittsburgh as their starting catcher.
  21. Any interest in RP Yimi Garcia, who was non-tendered by LA last night? 3.61 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 66/14 K/BB in 62 1/3 innings
  22. Anybody watch Yellowstone on the Paramount network? Season 2 ended in August, but I finally got around to bingeing it the last few nights. Great show!
  23. Berrios FA SP Odorizzi (*fingers crossed*) * Resign Pineda Dobnak/Smeltzer/Graterol/Thorpe compete in ST for the #4 & #5 spots. Two of them start while Pineda serves out his suspension. Once Pineda is reinstated and ready to go, one stays and the other goes back to Rochester. Having quality depth is a good thing!
  24. Resign Pineda, offer Odorizzi the QO and hopefully he accepts or signs an extension, and sign one of Bumgarner/Wheeler/Keuchel/Ryu. Out of ST, two of Graterol/Smeltzer/Dobnak/Thorpe round out the rotation, with Pineda replacing whichever one is struggling when he is in game-shape.
