  1. On August 29th, 1984, the upstart Minnesota Twins held a 3 game lead in the AL West division. In a bid to shore up their bench, the Twins traded a PTBNL to the Seattle Mariners for 30 year old PH/DH/1B Pat Putnam, who had a paltry .532 OPS for the Mariners. Well, Putnam's OPS in 43 AB's was almost half that for the Twins (.268!). As we all know, the Twins proceeded to lose the division to Cleveland and Jamie Quirk.
  2. FREE Anthony Slama! Had some pretty good minor league #'s, but only appeared in 7 games for the Twins over the 2010-2011 seasons.
  3. This right here. Loved Hrbek, Bruno, and Gaetti in the early 80's, but my fandom went to a whole new level after Kirby came aboard.
  4. Been a rollercoaster of a season for sure, but at 11-14 they are on pace to win 36 games. The Vegas over/under on Timberwolves wins prior to the season? 35.5 wins
  5. The Twins announced their 2022 coaching staff today, announcing the additions of Hank Conger as First Base/Catching coach and Luis Ramirez as Asst. Pitching Coach. In addition, Tommy Watkins will shift to Third Base/Outfield coach and Tony Diaz will move to Asst. Bench/Infield Coach. Manager – Rocco Baldelli Bench Coach – Jayce Tingler Assistant Bench Coach / Infield – Tony Diaz Pitching Coach – Wes Johnson Hitting Coach – David Popkins Hitting Coach – Rudy Hernandez First Base Coach / Catching – Hank Conger Third Base Coach / Outfield – Tommy Watkins Bullpen Coach – Pete Maki Assistant Pitching Coach – Luis Ramirez Quality Control Coach – Nate Dammann https://www.mlb.com/press-release/press-release-twins-add-hank-conger-to-major-league-coaching-staff
  6. Yikes, Griffen posted a video to Instagram last night saying that there were people outside his place that wanted to kill him and displayed a gun that he said Dalvin Cook helped him get. Clearly was having another mental health episode. Hope he gets the help that he needs. With Griffen out and now Tomlinson out on the Covid list, the Vikings will be extremely thin on the D-line this week.

  8. Michael Rand of the Star Tribune had Dave St. Peter on his daily podcast to talk about the decline in viewers. You can listen here: https://dcs.megaphone.fm/STB1664018518.mp3?key=133bd989a13d29121caaae5e32539e76 St. Peter did confirm that the Twins contract with Bally's expires after the 2023 season. How frustrating is the idea that part of the decline is because the games simply aren't available to a certain subset of subscribers? "It is frustrating," St. Peter said. "I think fundamental to our job is to ensure the accessibility of our product. ... Clearly viewing of our games, whether they be at Target Field or at home on your couch, seems to be a pretty core part of the way we promote our brand. When you lack that accessibility, it's a problem." St. Peter added that he hopes the issue is resolved before the start of the 2022 season and confirmed that the Twins' contract with Bally Sports North ends after the 2023 season. "Clearly over the long term, I can assure you as contracts expire you're going to 100% see that change," he said.
  9. KFAN said he left the practice field clutching his shoulder/collarbone area after making a catch.
  10. Or your star WR and Safety. It will, however, affect players on the roster bubble. If Nate Stanley is not vaxxed, I bet Jake Browning just made the team over him.
  11. OK, this has been retracted now. Wade and Bart are not going to CHI.
  12. Pineda was NOT traded per Do-Hyoung Park.
  13. Per Rosenthal, Buxton is staying put. No trade.
  14. Well, he does need some fixing too. In 76 IP this year, he has 56 K and 56 BB.
  15. SP Joe Ryan, who the Twins received in the Nelson Cruz trade, got the start and victory for Team USA over Team Israel in the Olympics. Ryan's line: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K - 71 pitches His only ER? A solo shot given up to #oldfriend Danny Valencia.
  16. The Twins got 2 decent pitching prospects, including one who was rated #98 overall in 2020, for a 41 year old DH on an expiring deal. As one of one the better relief pitchers in baseball consistently for the past 6 seasons and still with 1 1/2 years of control, Taylor Rogers should have a bit more trade value than as just a throw-in as it seems in deals #1 and especially #2.
  17. I think everyone wringing their hands about the fact that Buxton doesn't want to play for the Twins or that negotiations are over need to take a deep breath, 1. Nowhere in Rosenthal's article does it state that negotiations are over. The Twins offered $73 million guaranteed and the Buxton camp made a counteroffer. The Twins followed that up by offering $80 million and Buxton rejected that. 2. If Buxton simply didn't want to play for the Twins, would his camp have even made a counteroffer?
  18. This is a pretty good article about Joe Ryan. https://www.si.com/mlb/2021/05/24/pitching-prospects-college-joe-ryan-the-opener
  19. It's about time. Definitely a move that did not work, to say the least.
  20. Agree with the north shore recommendation. I'm a fan of the Grand Marais, Gunflint Trail, Tofte, Lutsen areas in particular. You'll need a car and I recommend making a reservation sooner rather than later. Rental car companies everywhere have a shortage of vehicles available.
  21. I'm sure if he hasn't already, he'll scurry to Florida like Trump, Kushner and the rest of the lackeys.
  22. Would be ready for 2022 MLB season and cost $23 a month. https://www.startribune.com/would-you-pay-23-a-month-for-access-to-just-bally-sports-north/600067173/ https://nypost.com/2021/06/10/sinclair-raising-250m-for-new-sports-streaming-service-sources/
