  1. Monty Python star Terry Jones has died at the age of 77 after a long battle with dementia. Current Standings 1t. luke829 - 23 points (T.Jones) 1t. Musk21 - 23 points (T.Jones)
  2. I could see why it would possibly look like tape, but I still think it's confetti. What Hosken refers to as a rod looks more like the gold piece (confetti in my mind) is not completely flat against Reddick's chest and the camera angle and light shows that more clearly.
  3. It's a piece of gold confetti.
  4. The whole process makes no sense to me. "To be eligible for the Hall of Fame an individual artist or band must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination." So why was it the first year on the ballot for Whitney Houston, Doobie Brothers, and T-Rex? This was the ballot: Pat Benatar Dave Matthews Band Depeche Mode The Doobie Brothers Whitney Houston Judas Priest Kraftwerk MC5 Motörhead Nine Inch Nails The Notorious B.I.G. Rufus featuring Chaka Khan Todd Rundgren Soundgarden T. Rex Thin Lizzy Not sure why T-Rex (Get It On/Bang a Gong) got in over Pat Benatar, Dave Matthews Band, Soundgarden to name a few.
  5. Maybe so, but seems like there is no real advantage. If you add them at the 40-man deadline, they aren't eligible for the Rule 5 draft. If you remove them sometime after the Rule 5 draft, they can be claimed by any team (and thus added to that team's 40-man roster).
  6. Why does nearly every forum topic need to have "Front Page" in front of it? At the time of this post, 17 of 20 topics start with 'Front Page.' I'd guess you're trying to highlight articles that are written by TD writers, but there is the 'Recent Articles' tab in the RH column. Just would think there is some other way of identifying these "official threads."
  7. I'm sure he could be DFA just like anyone else. Why would there be a rule that you can't remove someone?
  8. Wow, that's a nice link. Thanks! One possible error on there though....I think it was established somewhere on TD that Romero has 1 option remaining.
  9. Umm, like who? Mitch Moreland is about the only FA 1B left that I can think of. And Cron signed with Detroit before Christmas.
  10. The OL was horrible on pass protection. I don't know which linemen specifically were the problems, but when Cousins has time, he does quite well.
  11. 1st order of business will be hiring a new Offensive coordinator as the Browns just announced that Stefanski will be their new head coach. Wonder if Shurmur returns here?
  12. Doogie indicates that Tyler Duffey and Twins have settled at $1.2 million.
  13. Yeah, someone like that Nick Anderson guy for TB. Bet the team that let him go is kicking themselves!
  14. Winning 101 games and the AL Central division tends to help on those fronts.
  15. "Old friend" Adalberto Mejia DFA by the Angels to make room for "old friend" Jason Castro.
  16. They're also not going to throw Hill and Bailey under the bus by saying something like "We struck out on some (all?) of the players that we had targeted, so had to sign whatever scraps were left...."
  17. You are correct.
  18. Here's the breakdown of Hill's incentives: $1 mill for 5 GS or 25 IP $1 mill for 7 GS or 35 IP $1 mill for 9 GS or 45 IP $1.5 mill for 11 GS or 55 IP $2 mill for 13 GS or 65 IP $3 mill for 15 GS or 75 IP
  19. I'm going to guess that many teams (and agents!) underestimated how high the demand and prices would get on starting pitchers. Twins might've gone after Gibson and Odorizzi definitely would have declined his QO.
  20. More updates: Bailey’s contract includes a $7MM guarantee, per Jon Heyman of MLB Network (via Twitter). He also has some incentive pay available, but only if he gets up to 180 innings. Hill is guaranteed $3MM, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com tweets. His contract includes a hefty $9.5MM in total available incentives which can be met by recording only 15 starts and/or 75 innings thrown.
  21. On Hill: Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the deal carries a $3 million guarantee.
  22. They had to do something...Bailey was fine last year, about on par with Gibson. Hill was very good (but will miss the first half). Will be curious what the terms are. This doesn't preclude a potential trade for an "impact" pitcher.
  23. Current Standings 1. AlwaysInModeration - 197 points (J.Jose, A. Baghdadi, L.Bracknell, F.Ali) 2. lecroy24fan - 122 points (J.Clegg, L.Bracknell, V.Harper, M.Stottlemyre) 3. biggentleben - 106 points (L.Bracknell, V.Harper, B.Starr, D.Day, M.Stottlemyre) 4. Musk21 - 97 points (D.Imus, V.Harper, B.Starr, T.Conway, J-M.Vincent) 5. luke829 - 40 points (R.Mugabe, V.Harper, B.Starr) 6. GCTF - 32 points (V.Harper, R.Torn) 7. batista4goldglove - 20 points (V.Harper) 7t. Carole Keller - 20 points (R.Mugabe, T.Conway)
  24. Longtime radio personality Don Imus has died at the age of 79. I had him on my list. Current Standings 1. AlwaysInModeration - 197 points (J.Jose, A. Baghdadi, L.Bracknell, F.Ali) 2. biggentleben - 106 points (L.Bracknell, V.Harper, B.Starr, D.Day, M.Stottlemyre) 3. Musk21 - 97 points (D.Imus, V.Harper, B.Starr, T.Conway, J-M.Vincent) 4. lecroy24fan - 88 points (L.Bracknell, V.Harper, M.Stottlemyre) 5. luke829 - 40 points (R.Mugabe, V.Harper, B.Starr) 6. GCTF - 32 points (V.Harper, R.Torn) 7. batista4goldglove - 20 points (V.Harper) 7t. Carole Keller - 20 points (R.Mugabe, T.Conway)
  25. I was surprised to see that the Twins used 145 different batting lineups in 2019. The most common lineup (used for 7 games)? Kepler Polanco Cruz Rosario Cron Gonzalez Schoop Castro Buxton What changes, if anything, for 2020? Will Arraez supplant Kepler as the leadoff hitter? Will Garver continue to lead off vs LHP? Assuming he isn't traded, does Rosario stick at the clean-up spot?
