  1. Okay it's Morneau. Thanks for all your help guys.
  2. So, Smalley's one. Is that Morneau? Kinda sounds like Morneau.
  3. Just tuned in. Who are the announcers today?
  4. So it happened by accident? Look, when people like Jose Berrios explicitly call Puerto Rico things like "my country," I think it's okay when Seth does it. And if your stated goal is to make people aware of PR's history, how on earth does it further than goal to conflate it with the rest of the US, when it's so clearly different?
  5. Super happy we were all able to trivialize the point over pedantry. Let me guess, you are intimately familiar with all overseas territories, dependent territories, crown colonies, and disputed provinces? Was there anything substantive that was problematic about the article? No? Okay then.
  6. Funny. Seems like people from Pittsburg are much more likely to be long-suffering A's fans. Now, people from Pittsburgh - they may argue.
  7. First of all, neither I nor anyone else is "pushing him out there." He wants to be there, and he's a good player. And not only does Joe not have to play pro sports, he doesn't have to do a goddamn thing the rest of his life. And literally none of that is the point, nor is any of it a good argument. Does he want to continue playing? Apparently yes. Has he healed up well? Apparently yes. Can he continue to help the team? Apparently yes. He sure did last year, and so far this year it's looking very good. Attempting to hide behind a fake concern for his family is just cynical. So...I think we're done here.
  8. That would be good for Mauer, so you’re really reaching for something to complain about here. Because, aside from longevity, which everyone knows is only lacking because of a traumatic brain injury, Joe’s catcher résumé is right up there with the greats. And you know that the only reason Mauer isn’t going to end up right up there with Berra or Piazza in the hit count is that they didn’t have a major brain injury take away some of their peak years. I think Mauer would very much prefer to be compared to catchers than first basemen. And why not? He was an every day catcher for a decade.
  9. Phil ****ing Cuzzi! It needed to be included, but if you absolutely had to pick an official hit for that last spot I'd nominate this one: http://www.startribune.com/postgame-mauer-vs-chapman-was-one-for-the-ages/160189965/ Edit: link isn't working for me for some reason but just search "Mauer vs. Chapman was one for the ages" This one's burned in my memory as emblematic of what Joe was capable of, and hopefully is capable of again. Sadly, it was only shortly before his last big concussion robbed him of this ability for a few years. Excellent article. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
  10. I don't know if it was "magical," but it was a good scoop.
  11. Mauer and Dozier flipped the script this game. Which works out because of the batting order.
  12. You got gypped, man. The rest of us went for a ride.
  13. I had to mute it. If you go to a baseball game and scream "woo" over and over, do us all a favor and kill yourself.
  14. Speaking of things that I hate, I absolutely hate this Ric Flair "woo" ****. Shut up already.
  15. Why would anyone subject themselves to Colin Cowherd and/or Jason Whitlock. I'd rather hit myself with a hammer.
  16. Love the top prospect update. Don’t love that Hughes has a WHIP of like 2 in A ball.
  17. That's a very, very large jump based on literally zero information about the offers. You may be right if and when more information comes out, but saying "I'm not surprised they all said no," sounds like a whole lot of unwarranted assumption to me.
  18. I don't read American ESPN because I don't care about the size and color of LeBron James's bowel movements, or about what LeBron James had for lunch, or about LeBron James's take on the daily political mass hysteria. But if you want to read it in English, I found it here: http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/23005962/brian-dozier-take-baseball-unwritten-rules-silly-brilliant-same
  19. I looked through the thread and didn't see it. Was it in another thread? Anyway, good to know my translations weren't off the wall, at least.
  20. It's in Spanish, but the Mexican edition of ESPN just posted an article about baseball's unwritten rules, featuring our own Brian Dozier. I figured that might be a hot topic round these parts. http://www.espn.com.mx/beisbol/nota/_/id/4158320/la-queja-de-brian-dozier-sobre-un-toque-es-para-ganar-ventaja Some choice quotes (all ****ty translations are my own):
