  1. Facebook game? Seriously? I'm trying this out, the game hasn't even started yet, and this is already a garbage way to watch. Laggy, poor quality (I'm testing 120 Mbps down, so it's not me), and incredibly irritating thumbs up icons floating around the screen. I pay for mlb.tv, and being seven hours ahead of Minnesota, I hardly get to watch live. This ****ing sucks.
  2. He is a center fielder all the way around. ...wait a minute.
  3. I don't think it angers anyone. Until you're mathematically eliminated, you're not mathematically eliminated; I just think some have an easier time accepting that the odds were ridiculously against this team. If the Twins were running a marathon race, they'd be crossing the starting line while the Kenyans were passing mile 10. Does it meet the technical definition of "race"? Yes. Is it a race? Come on, now.
  4. At $18 million? I don't see it. I see them offering a one year, make good contract. Maybe something between what Logan Morrison and Lance Lynn got?
  5. Doubt we need more marginal AAA relievers in their mid-20s. I'd have held out for the younger guy with upside too. Though you could be right: this could be Dozier's [lack of] value.
  6. Dozier is the one I'm watching most closely. He seems to have played himself out of a market. Similarly, I wouldn't be shocked to see Rodney moved, for a bag of balls at best, but I'm struggling to see a landing spot for him. I highly doubt Gibson gets traded, and with the possibility of rebound from guys like Sano and Buxton, plus further development out of Berrios and Romero, plus Eddie just staying Eddie, I want Gibson to stick around. No reason to punt on 2019.
  7. Don't think there's any realistic chance of this. Rooker is this front office's draft pick (for whatever that's worth), and they've showed absolutely no hesitation in pushing him up the chain. He's at AA a year and a half into his pro career. Austin looks more like a Vargas type, because, well, Vargas ain't coming back. The pitcher looks like the more interesting piece to me. I'm scouting stat lines, but although the strikeout rates are lower than you'd want them to be, the walk rate is ridiculous. Maybe there's something there.
  8. Luis Rijo also included apparently. a 19 year old in A ball, but I don't know much of anything else about him.
  9. Update says also Luis Rijo.
  10. What do we know about this Tyler Austin? Hopefully Lynn can be a double agent at least.
  11. Well put. I agree with the move, but damn do I hate it.
  12. "A long time ago" with a sample size of 28 games doesn't compute. Still, nice to hear he's moving up. Challenge the young man.
  13. I’m in the same boat and pretty thrilled to have been wrong about him, at least so far. Let’s hooe he keeps it up.
  14. Three team trade for Jose De Leon. Book it. It's done except for the signatures.
  15. It amazes me how you've managed to miss the point, ignore the great information in the rest of the thread, belittle a very accomplished, longtime European scout, and cast unwarranted aspersions on the team the rest of us are rooting for, all in one little paragraph. I'm not even mad. I'm impressed.
  16. I totally get sending out Kirilloff with a guy like Gordon or Gonsalves. But to suggest that Romero would be an add-on to Kirilloff? Romero is significantly more valuable than Kirilloff, and he isn't even in the same universe as a guy like Gonsalves. That's a hard no from me. You can't send off the only good pitchers you develop, especially for two years of a guy who's in the middle of a career year that we can't even use to contend.
  17. Jon Tayler at SI.com: With just over a month until the trade deadline, teams around the league have begun the process of figuring out what they need to stay in contention, or what to sell amid a rebuilding season. But for a few squads, the coming weeks will be all about deciding whether or not to go in on playoff dreams or call it quits early. Here’s a quick look at three teams in the middle and whether they should buy, sell or hold. Sell: Minnesota Twins (34–40, third place in AL Central; 11 GB in AL wild card) This time last summer, Minnesota was over .500 and neck-and-neck with Cleveland in the division before ultimately selling at the deadline after a down July, then made the playoffs anyway thanks to a red-hot August. Flash forward a year, and the Twins once again look like they’ll be moving veterans thanks to a bad combination of injuries and poor performance from key contributors. That said, there’s some upside currently on the shelf in Ervin Santana (who’s missed the whole year with a finger injury), Byron Buxton (who’s played just 28 games because of various maladies) and Miguel Sano (currently in the minors after hitting just .203/.270/.405 in 163 plate appearances). If those three can get right and back, and veterans Brian Dozier (91 OPS+) and Logan Morrison (78) can find their strokes, the Twins could make some August noise once again. However, it’d likely be too little and too late: Already eight games back in the Central and even further out in the wild card, Minnesota’s playoff odds are a mere 4.7%. A second straight second-half surge looks rather unlikely from here. Expect the Twins to be fielding calls in July instead of making them. https://www.si.com/mlb/2018/06/25/yankees-red-sox-jd-martinez-mike-trout-shohei-ohtani-mlb-scores Apologies for formatting. I’m on mobile.
  18. 84 game score. Is that the best game a Twins pitcher has pitched this year?
  19. You threw me with that Greenwich time, seeing as I have tickets tonight.
  20. I wasn’t really trying to call you out specifically, and I probably would have agreed with both points at their respective times. It’s just funny how quickly things can change.
  21. Interesting comment with hindsight. Perceptions can change over very short windows.
  22. That makes sense in theory, but if there's a guy who's ready to step right in to the major league team and start contributing, why is he in the Twins' AAA system? I'd guess that the guys who are forced to take minor league deals are forced to take minor league deals for a reason. I'd also guess that every AAA team is full of quantity over quality. Do you have suggestions for players they could have taken instead of the ones you named? I'm imagine there are better options out there with the benefit of hindsight. Anyone out there now you could grab for depth?
