  1. Buxton is going in the tank. 1 for 4, so his average is down to .500. Hope he can find his swing.
  2. Most of this could have gone into the 'Fun With Numbers' thread, but I like it broken out this way. Fun stuff, well presented. And wierd.
  3. Wow. And I used to think I could never have compassion for a White Sox fan. So sad.
  4. That would certainly make the games fun to watch. And our desperation for pitching even more apparent.
  5. And Mike Trout is playing somewhere on the west coast. Wait, that was just a dream I had.
  6. Sadly, no. That doesn't mean that they can't be more fun to watch than they were last year. Hicks, Parmelee, Plouffe, Dozier, etc., who is going to step up? With lowered expectations for 2013 we can look to the future and just enjoy the games. It's not like we're watching the Cubs.
  7. That may be. It certainly occurs like a long list of unproven arms. The only way we are going to find if any of these young guys are going to help eventually is to give them innings. Our AAA team may not win a lot of games, but hopefully we can find out if all these young arms can turn into 1 or 2 (or, dare I say, 3?) reliable pitchers in the Twins future.
  8. These are great. Seth - what are your thoughts on Kennys Vargas. If I recall correctly, you stated in an article earlier this year that you thought he would develop slower than some of his teammates. Would you please elaborate on that? (because I know you have nothing else to do) Thank you
  9. Thank you for this community service, Brad. And God help you. God help us all.
  10. As far as viewership, I am always amazed that these very wealthy team owners do so little to protect their investment. From a marketing standpoint, almost all Saturday games should be afternoon games. Far more likely to get children out to the park. How many of us fondly remember being at the ballpark with Dad as an early childhood highlight? And, of course, Friday's game and Saturday's game are always at the same park. Players would get used to it. Back to the subject, baseball is far from dying. It is, after all, the finest game on earth. edit: MY memories are sitting in the stands with my Dad. For others it might be both parents or Mom. Don't rip me for being sexist. The most fun women I know are baseball fans
  11. This is great, guys. Really fun to read. Suggestion? A link to the box score for each game would be nice if it is readily available. Thanks!
  12. That's where I was going with that 'stat'. It's all fun when your team is winning!
  13. Wow! So sample size doesn't really concern you? Perfect! The Twins, who almost no one expects to win 81 games this year, are .500. Clearly Mauer hitting 2nd is a dream come true to the franchise! (I know (gotta believe) your comment was said with tongue in cheek)
  14. Thank you Parker. Fun to read that we aren't the only ones obsessing about stats.
  15. Posey is excellent. I wish him a good career. Mauer will be in the Hall of Fame. Posey is not a sure thing there.
  16. I appreciate a well thought, well articulated article like this. Thank you Nick.
  17. 1. F Hernandez, 2. C Lee 3. Y Darvish 4. Scherzer 5. J Peavy 6. A Wainwright
  18. These types of records are more fun than they should be. Thank you. (Oh, and you have amazing byline skills.)
  19. Did not participate last year, but it probably would have been, um, someone who was really good. I like Arcia. Anxious to see how he deals with AAA pitching.
  20. Wow. Thanks. A Twins executive meeting, and I feel like I was there!
  21. Um, I like our bench more this year. If I didn't believe this was a rebuilding year I would be terribly disappointed. Should be interesting to see to what extent Hicks, Plouffe, Parmelee and Dozier can secure a position going forward. Also we will probably see Worley, De Vries, Gibson, Hendriks, Deduno and others given enough time to see who might seriously contribute next year. That's how I am looking at the season. For me, any other approach would just be depressing.
  22. Thank you Peanuts. These articles will give me a whole new way to look at our Twins this year. That could prove very helpful at times.
  23. Just to be difficult, I will select Oswaldo Arcia as Rod Carew Rookie of the Year . That, and I hope Hicks has a great season, too. P.S. - Your youth is showing. Really should be Tony Oliva Rookie of the Year (first ROY for the Minnesota Twins)
  24. Why couldn't you leave it alone, Brock? Now you've bumped it up and now I'm reading it, certain that I'm finally about to get to the end of the Internet. But no.... Oh, Brock. Damn.
