  1. This is fun stuff. Garrett Jones had a very good year for Pittsburgh last year. I'm sure they appreciated the 27 home runs he hit for them. Mijares had the highest K/9 of his MLB career. Ramos isn't tearing it up, but he seems to have figured out to hit an occasional curveball.
  2. The ''quick hands' comment is interesting. Suggests that he may not be as vulnerable as some to have his production fall off as he meets better pitching. Very encouraging prospect. Would love to see him get to AA this year. Rosario is the number one reason I would like to see Dozier get another shot at SS. Dozier's minor league numbers suggest he may succeed at MLB. I would rather not put Dozier in a position to block Rosario. I believe Rosario will run over anyone in his way.
  3. Alas my brother, where are we going with this? Do you disagree? Yeah, me too.

To leave Hicks in the minors for a couple of months seems to make sense. I like Benson, but he does not have the ceiling of a Hicks (defensively speaking) or Arcia (offensively speaking). If he can cut it, he is the perfect player to have as the CF or 4th outfielder to start the season.
  5. I think that mnfanforlife's projection was optimistic. However... indeed Torii Hunter's progress, with all the raw talent he had as a kid, has been in some ways mirrored by Hicks. It may be useful to point out that Hicks was 22 years old at New Britian. Only Arcia was 21 years old for the season. Hicks is young for AA ball. Arcia is otherworldly.
  6. It says that he is a salesman. We are going to get the company line from him, and the company line does not include an effort to get people fired up about young players who will be battling for a future with the Minnesota Twins. I am under no illusion that I know more about baseball than Dave St. Peter. But it makes me wonder what kinds of questions are worth asking Twins baseball executives. Jim Leyland always gets in trouble for saying what he really thinks. And Ozzie...
  7. Thome had 40 strikouts last year in 115 PA. He is 50 strikeouts from being the all time leader in strikeouts. Love the guy, but he should avoid that record.
  8. Pronto pups (only works while they're young)
  9. Obviously this has to happen. Would it be on Animal Planet, Syfy, TLC? Please advise.
  10. Thank you, Brad, for a very interesting article on a very strange stat. Get some rest.
  11. Pelfrey was always a roll of the dice. I still believe we will get a good, solid pitcher out of the deal for most of the year. Opening series? Hmmm...
  12. Didn't really look at it until you posted. A REALLY fast outfield!
  13. I love this idea. And it has no logic behind it. Baseball fans are a sentimental group. Especially when it comes to a master of the craft and a true gentleman like Jim Thome.
  14. Nice write up Codey. Thank you. There is not a team in MLB that doesn't wish THEY had signed that contract with Willingham. Any production close to last year would be wonderful.
  15. When posting this information could you please include the time of the game? It will be appreciated. Thank you Seth.
  16. I just responded to the article directly, but here's my thought on the subject: He is a lock Hall of Famer. I appreciate that he loves the game, but I think it's time to go. Another 50 strikeouts and he will hold the record for the most strikeouts in a career. This is a record he should avoid.
  17. Love Thome, but the Twins should give a lot of young players at bats. Admit it is a rebuilding year and see what we have. That approach will not only give more experience to some of these kids, but will get us a earlier draft pick. Am I totally resigned about this season? Maybe.
  18. I have not been this excited about a Twins prospect since Morneau & Mauer. If you haven't already, watch those clips on the link mnfanforlife provided. This young man could really be something special.
  19. Letting Shin-Soo Choo go had to be very unpopular to the casual fans. The Indians look to be completely unpredictable for this year. That in itself will be entertaining.
  20. I don't know who is inside that suit, but he has the patience of a saint. (pretty sure it is a male) I've seen him hounded by kids and he's always so good to them. I'm a nice guy, but I don't know if I could do that.
  21. Not Arcia! The Yankees would find Willingham's contract appealing. They are working pretty hard to lower payroll. Sadly, they too are looking in their own farm system for a SS, so probably couldn't get one from them.
  22. I sat behind home plate (up a ways, not the Champions Club) once when Deduno was pitching. Certainly lacks consistancy and I don't know that it will magically show up now that he is 29 years old, but when he's on he is really fun to watch. I like Worley as the opening day starter, but I would guess that it's a little more political/ego based than I know. Thank Cody.
  23. Sign me up as another that would like Slama to get a real chance in MLB. I realize there may be issues, but some pitchers manage to get batters out in ways that don't require a great fastball. In his 6 year minor league career he has never had a season where his WHIP was as high as 1.3. There are some pretty good pitchers out there who cannot say that. If he fails, well, then we know. A year like this is perfect for figuring out who to let go and who to keep for the rebuild.
  24. Yes, that 'two years' comment caught my attention, too. I'm all for having him appear with the Twins as soon as he's ready, but 2016 or 2017 I suspect is a more realistic expectation.
