  1. No telling, for a guy who has never batted above A+. We will know more if he can handle AA pitching.
  2. How much longer would Gibson have to stay in AAA for the Twins to have another year of control? Gotta be so close now that they would wait if the time hasn't already passed.
  3. I like the logic of it. Of course, blowing the #4 draft pick on a guy who has an injury that he cannot shake would be crushing, but I trust that they can get that figured out. Thanks thry.
  4. Albers has a lower ERA, a lower WHIP and a higher K rate than Gibson. No idea at all why the Twins would bring Gibson up before Albers. We have guys on the 40 man roster who would not be claimed or it would be fine if they were claimed or we could put on the 60 day DL. Just doesn't make sense to me.
  5. If you cannot hate the Yankees then some part of you has died. God help you.
  6. mwm - everyone is. Even you and I are better than those stats.
  7. "Vargas, Harrison, Keplar, or Walker" - these names are a long, long way off. If neither Colabello nor Parmelee are ready then we really aren't in a position to push away some guy who is by any definition an excellent first baseman. You may want Mauer there, but Mauer is still catching and, as fine an athlete as he is, we suffer when someone other than Morneau is playing first. Want to get rid of Morneau? Come up with a plan. I really don't want the Twins pulling a name out of a hat to see who plays 1B today. One day it's Hicks, then Ramirez, then Escobar, then Perkins? No thanks.
  8. Of the position players for the Kernels, only Buxton, Polanco and Harrison are younger than he is. That has me be really pleased with his .407 OBP. A long way off, but he is another young man it is fun to be optimistic about.
  9. I cannot see Sano or Rosario ready for MLB in April of next year. So much will depend on how these guys do in AA when they get moved there. We DO need to see more of these young guys, but it's early yet. If they are not producing come July we can probably lift the SSS excuse.
  10. Stew - This thread is really great. Thank you!
  11. Read the Sam Miller article. Thanks
  12. We are going to play Game 1 three times? We should be good at it by Friday.
  13. It would be good if you included links to your previous mailbags. That way people can, um, be further informed with your earlier works.
  14. Thank you Brock. I had been pondering a thread like this for a while. Do you push Buxton to maybe catch up with Sano? Do you push them all? Not all these guys are going to rake in MLB like they are raking now. Remember that Plouffe, Parmelee and Hicks were all 1st round draft picks. That said, I am optimistic. I would like the Twins to push some of these guys along. It doesn't always work (Hicks) but sometimes it does (Hrbek, Mauer, others).
  15. Hmm. Thanks for pointing that out. i was going to watch tonight but that sounds too difficult for my old eyes. Guess I'll just read the recaps tomorrow.
  16. 1. There seems to be a lot of suspicion that Sano will not stay at third. 2. One should not act too certain that the players in the minors will absolutely be better than the players we have now. Remember that Plouffe was a first round draft pick. 3. Even if some great player comes along, wouldn't we all be better off if Plouffe was playing exceptional baseball? I'm not much for the 'placeholder' role except when the position being held is for a player coming off the DL. Prospects, however good, are just prospects.

    Anagram update

    Fun stuff. Thank you ashburyjohn.
  18. Really fun to follow these. Thank you Seth. Fuller got his 33 HR in 594 plate appearances. Miguel Sano has 9 HR in 91 plate appearances. Sano would have to completely tank for the Twins to leave him in Fort Myers all year, although it's looking like several of those hitters could compete against more challenging pitching.
  19. These updates are great Mr. Ed. Thanks Rosario is looking really good right now. Hope he keeps it up. You would think it will mean a move to AA by mid-year.
  20. Other teams are going to catch on and stop it. They simply have to avoid two strike counts when Mauer bats. Baseball is so easy.
  21. Silly articles like this are part of what makes baseball so much fun. Thank you
  22. Seems to be a lot of agreement here. I'll join in. No roof. Summer games make it all worthwhile.
