  1. One thing I really like about this idea, Supfin99, is that you are not talking about pitchers. Seems such a low percentage of those long term pitcher signings turn out well. Long term contracts for position players can be risky, no doubt. However... Morneau at $80 million for 2008-2013 was an excellent signing until the concussion. Likely many GMs were jealous when they read that. Mauer's 4 year, $33 million contract was an excellent sign by the Twins. If I am following your post correctly, you would have encouraged that early Mauer signing to be a 10 year contract (through 2016) rather than a 4 year offer. That could certainly have saved some real money.
  2. Good points, and this was maybe the best. I just don't see the Twins spending the $9.5 million that Willingham and Perkins are making on someone who will make a difference. The trade potential of Perkins later in the year does set an attractive scenario.
  3. Man, I hope so. Hey Twins Fan From Afar, this is a fun thread. Thank you Don't see Levi Michael ever getting to MLB. It will be fun to pull this out in 2016 and see how it adds up. I've got my own lists. Does everyone do this? I mean, other than Seth?
  4. Shane - the first post was so good and then you had to make it all a lie by posting again. You were so close... Agree with Shane. I appreciate the frustration, huhguy, but Arcia is dealing with the best pitchers on the planet right now for the first time in his life. He will be fine. In fact, I think he will be excellent.
  5. Um, well, when there is no one on base a solo home run is the only kind of home run they let you hit.
  6. Hmm... gotta go find me a sidecar. And a driver. With a bike.
  7. Jokin - I expect you to be opinionated and sometimes a bit harsh, but usually you have well thought-out posts. Perkins and Willingham are high dollar? Hey my brother, you're better than this. I look forward to your next post.
  8. I like the aggressiveness of this thread, but I believe that it is too soon. He has star potential, no question. There is still too much that can go wrong. Attitude is part of it. If I was really inclined to ink someone to a deal like this it would be the more humble Buxton. I don't want this to occur as racist (nationalist?), but here are my thoughts: Buxton seems like the All-American kid. His humility along with his work ethic and overall attitude make a more attractive package to me. Sano cannot be as good as he is by accident. I'm sure he works hard. Still, I really think Buxton is the safer bet.
  9. I just thought you were funny. And strange. This was nice. Now I think you're funny and real. And strange.
  10. This was enlightening. Your Clete Thomas hate is directly tied to your infatuation with Hicks! This was useful to see, as I was wondering why you had suddenly (?) become so odd. Clete Thomas is not going to ruin this season for the Twins. Hicks does not need to play 162 games this year. That probably isn't best for him. Always a pleasure. Fun to see your answers to these questions you pretend people asked you.
  11. Forgot to address that. If he skips signing with the Twins and goes to play football he is too stupid to want on your team. $4 million vs. an opportunity to ruin your future? From what I've read he is a smart kid. He will sign.
  12. Just got back from watching the Twins leave 41 runners on base. I am very pleased with the Stewart pick. Everything I read says this kid has a great attitude & all the tools. In 2018 we may be chuckling at the teams who took Gray & Appel. And I expect him in MLB sooner than that.
  13. Liked the look of his future with the Twins a while back. Great to see he's doing well. It will be interesting to see what they do with him.
  14. No. I don't believe he'll get to 500, but after reading these posts I suspect I'd be less surprised than most. Those TTT guys can surprise you.
  15. Deeply disappointing. Raspberry
  16. Feedback on Jeremy. Phone booth echo for Seth. John should be on the radio, as he can speak without echo or feedback. (well, there is a little echo) Really like the time of these. I like Gleeman & the Geek but they are, what, 4 hours long? I’ve only ever listened to the beginning of them. Some say Stewart has the greatest upside of any of these pitchers. Looks like historically top pick HS pitchers get to MLB at about the same rate as top pick college pitchers make it. Consequently, I would be OK with a Stewart pick (over Bryant or Gray) if the Twins felt he was the BPA. These are awesome. Thanks.
  17. I have only heard him on the radio, but I was surprised how interesting Tim Laudner was to listen to when he covered for someone. I would not have guessed I would have enjoyed him as much as I did. Intelligent and informed remarks.
  18. This whole series was fun. I tried to ignore it but accidentally clicked on one the other day. So I then read them all. Thank you Brad!
  19. I enjoy these. Thanks Cody. That film on The Big Train is great! 200 innings was for wimps.
  20. I have to believe that when signing Thomas the Twins told him he would see MLB if he performed well and they had a need. These events have come to pass. He will be an adequate backup CF. I wish him all the best.
  21. Sadly, they just aren't very bright. If he'd stop hitting those home runs he would have more opportunities to steal bases. Who the hell is coaching that team? Do I have to do everything?
  22. I do not buy your conspiracy theory and, as much as I love your writing, I am pretty sure that you are crazy. This was excellent. Concise and to a point. I think this will be a popular feature if you continue to do these. I look forward to the next one. Criticism: could use a little more consistency on the voice volumes. Thanks very much. I enjoyed this. Also, I would be fine with the Twins taking Stewart over Bryant. They are saying it is a 3 player draft. As I posted elsewhere on TD, Stewart's is the arm that could make that line untrue.
  23. Reading other posts here on TD it appears that many of the very best pitchers were drafted as HS prospects. Also that the rate of success (which is poor, overall) is really no better for a college arm than a HS arm. I am all for Stewart. A 3 player draft? His is the arm that could make that line untrue.
  24. The problem with a good fielding 3B is that, even if he cannot hit, Gardy will sit Plouffe and play the guy who is the better fielder. Then we will never know what Plouffe could have been.
  25. Draws comparisons to Andrew McCutchen? Man I love reading that! He goes from first to third like he knows a shortcut. Great line.
