  1. Thank you for the write-up and your impressions. It's fun to have a fan describe what what it looks like to a fan. Sadly, the impressions of Gonsalves and Gordon were pretty much what I've been thinking. Alas...
  2. I wonder if the MIs we have in MiLB will affect trying to sign Escobar. He will likely want a 3 year contract (at minimum). What are the Twins thinking of as a timeline for Lewis, Javier, etc.? I hope they either sign him or let us know why they don't go after him hard.
  3. Lots of data and nice, concise write-ups. It looks like a lot of work, Seth. Please know it is appreciated.
  4. Thanks Seth. Nice article. Looking at his Baseball-Reference page I see something kind of unusual. His WHIP has not been at or above 1.3 since his first year and he has never had an ERA of 4.00 or higher at any level. What mix of pitches has had him doing this well?

    Fools Gold

I'm not going all in on this particular 4th and 10. Not quite ready to punt, though.
  6. You get multiple guys who have performed well in AAA, like Garver and Cave, one of them sooner or later are going to start hitting well in MLB. Being an easy going kinda guy, I'm fine if they both pick up the pace.
  7. Well that was, um, different. Thanks, I guess.
  8. While it is true that Magill is likely to regress, his success is driven by his career low WHIP. I understand that the low BABIP is partly responsible, but Magill is also walking batters at what is effectively a career low as well. As long as he keeps from giving out free passes he can likely continue to be effective. He has certainly been a pleasant surprise for the Twins so far this season.
  9. If Gibson continues to pitch well through the end of the year I would like to see them offer an extension. I do not have the confidence some have in Gonsalves or Littell. Mejia is the one I expect to be strong in MLB, as he has an ERA <3, a WHIP <1.25 and is getting 9.6 K/9 in Rochester this year. He has also had some success in MLB in the past. Other than him I think our arms in the higher MiLB are questionable.
  10. Molitor isn't going anywhere right after winning MOY and signing a 3 year contract. And he can learn. The egregious bunting from the last couple of years has not been seen this year. Maybe we can get the pitching coach to decide who is available to pitch. That might protect the pitchers. Then we can get someone to play some of the younger players when they first come up instead of riding the bench most of their first few weeks in MLB. Now, if we can find someone to make up the line-up card, Molitor could start looking just fine...
  11. Hmm.. The Cubs are not pitching any better than the Twins (according to FanGraphs), though they are 10 games over .500. Few here thought the Twins pitching was going to carry the season. We need to hit above average to win, which we can do given the weak division we are in.
  12. Vastly improved rotation and bullpen. Eddie Rosario and Eduardo Escobar playing out of their minds. A truly terrible division. Insert the versions of Buxton and Sano that we all expected – or even close, or even one or the other – into that equation, and the team is winning this division right now. Maybe handily. Sadly, this is so very true. Funny game, baseball.
  13. I suspect they will let him go sometime after his OBP dips below .400. Though as you point out, as much as Molitor plays him that may wind up being his MLB career stat for 2018.
  14. Yes, of course you are. But as a fellow frustrated Twins fan, I enjoyed reading your post.
  15. When one posts a poem it’s delightful to see As long as that poem is not about me But when it’s the Twins we say rhymes about It’s worthy of claps, a good cheer and a shout . To celebrate the team that we all cheer for The positive aspects you seek to explore How sad it is that you mention one run ‘cause lately, my friend, it’s not been much fun . But thanks for the effort to find a good note And cherish the one run, as you so nicely wrote The future could bring a new challenge to you The Twins might go out and maybe score two!
  16. Gordon has 31 PA in AAA. He has one walk and 4 strike outs. That means that his BABIP right now is about .400. I suspect they have a reason for letting him get his swings in at AAA. He is unlikely to have a .400 BABIP in MLB. Give him a little time. Brent Rooker has 180 AB in AA. He is hitting .256/.299/.439 (.738). IMHO he is not ready for MLB. All in good time. These are not the players who are going to come in and dominate MLB pitching. Certainly not yet.
  17. With the option to review plays now it is unlikely those top positions will ever change. Gardenhire, in fact, should find it difficult to get into a tie for 7th place.
  18. Ohtani has the early edge for rookie of the year. His pitching alone would probably be enough. His hitting puts him over the top. The kid is a treat to watch.
  19. The proof that he was a little charged up is that in the second inning his 'change-up' was clocked at 91 MPH. That suggests he could relax a little more. With time, I'm sure he will.
  20. I was fortunate enough to be able to watch the game yesterday. Romero was throwing 91 MPH change-ups in the second inning. I suspect he is going to have control issues he will need to work on, but this kid looked really good out there. His FB has good movement. His slider was good. Fun to watch.
  21. A fair number of questions/remarks about Jake Cave. Here are some stats. 2017 - beat up AA, promoted to AAA where he posted a slash line of .324/.367/.554 (.921) in 297 PA. . THAT is why he is on the 40-man. So far he's not following up in Rochester, but his being put on the 40-man roster was not just a wild a** shot in the dark.

    Kerrigan?

I don't recall such an instance. He may have been promised to be fast-tracked when he signed from Indy ball. His .895 OPS in A+ (SSS) suggests there may be something there. And being a RH hitting outfielder may have prompted the FO to see if he is a viable option for the big leagues. Still, seems aggressive.
