    Nice pick up. However they need to get at least one more arm they can truly count on in the late innings, Benoit would have been an nice target but he is already traded, plenty of other arms on the market that can be legit 7th/8th guys. Clippard, Storen etc.

    I don't mind them trading Hicks "giving up" I mind them trading him for someone with such little upside, and someone who looks at least like a part time player for as long as Suzuki is here. The Twins need to be of the mindset of "playoffs or bust" next year, I'm not saying sell the farm, but they need to be putting out a team that can make a wild card spot in 2016, creating a hole in the OF for the first couple months with Hicks gone (and Buxton and Kepler not ready) while only bringing on a part time catcher seems like a net loss in the near term, and Hicks upside makes me think there is a very good chance that its a net loss in the long term. Just a perplexing trade all around. Why not give up something more for Gary Sanchez? A guy who may not be ready this minute, but actually has the upside to be a very good player at catcher.

    Good points, I was looking at just his offensive numbers. Either way it was a pretty bad decision, no doubt.

    If that is true (which I don't doubt) that highlights something very, very, very wrong in the thinking of this front office.

    Agree on the most part, but I think Nishioka was going to be terrible regardless of the leg break or not, he clearly had no business playing SS in the majors and was completely lost at the plate. But yeah, you are correct, his contract was small, but the real problem was shipping off Hardy (who in all fairness had a great season for Baltimore, before one bad, one good and several more bad ones) Lastly: Good points on the Pelfrey, Blackburn etc signings, just proves my point about rewarding and gravitating towards mediocrity.

    I'm not on twitter, twitter is a toxic wasteland that provides little to no value. Also I don't converse with idiots on a daily basis (try not to anyways), so again, no reasonable person would say Nishioka=Pak etc. Not sure why this article was written and posted on TwinsDaily if twinsdaily users weren't the ones saying it..

    Morneau would be a much better signing then Hunter ever was, but even so, I would pass for now.

    Santana is an all around mediocre player, though I would keep him as a util guy over Nunez or any of the other real options.

    the minute I appear in a pair political ad for someone I will look in the mirror, until then, this isn't even an apples and oranges comparison, it's a Boones farm and Orange Juice comparison. Also I haven't seen any "hate" fwiw, I have been hunters biggest critic in this regard but I have repeatedly said I loved what he did as a player for this team (top ten franchise history, team HOF etc) I bet if this was Chuck knoblauch though people wouldn't be as quick to defend...(all he did was demand a trade from the twins at the time) all the other stuff (Terrible stuff no doubt) came out long after the twins fans had thrown stuff at him on the field etc

    Also fwiw: I think a lot of people's issue with hunter isn't that he made the comments, but that he continually doubled down on them (then basically crapped all over the media when they tried to ask him about it) America and especially sports in America love to forgive folks, if he came out and said something along the lines of "these are beliefs I grew up with etc, but I have heard from others that it might be offensive, I am working to learn more about the issues" people would by and large forget about it.

    Agreed 100% A few of the "defenders" arguments seem a little like those of the curt schilling defenders.(though to be fair what schilling has been doing is much more inflammatory and dangerous IMO)

    What % of him is the racism towards Dominican and Latin players though? Sorry I'm not a fan of excuses for anyone under the age of 85 to be having and saying these things, not in 2015 certainly. Hopefully hunter can change, it certainly is possible if he will have even a slightly open mind. But ultimately that's on him, doesn't effect my life. I learned long ago that athletes aren't the best people to "look up" to. I have some extended relatives who have these outdated and disgusting views as well, I choose to simply not keep in touch with them whenever possible. People shouldn't give passes to this type of behavior due to "oh well this USED to be the norm" times change, time to grow up.

    Oh man, Schilling, what a nut! I would think that Hunter would be smarter then Schilling to be honest. Best case scenario is that now that he is away from the game every day perhaps Hunter has some time to meet some gay couples, gay ballplayers and can grow as a person.

    Yeah, I can't in good conscience ever root for Peterson directly again (I tossed his jersey and autographed ball he signed for me in college in the trash) I do however still root for the Vikings overall to win, so nothing makes me happier then to see Zach Line getting those touchdowns when the ball is at the one yard line instead of AP. Hunter, I don't agree with him, but whatever, I still had no real qualms rooting for him on the field, I do get a little "miffed" about all the off the field leadership stuff. (calling Latin American players "Fake Blacks" can't have endeared him to many of his latin teammates, and fwiw I play in wood bat league that is at least 50% Dominican players, not many Hunter fans out there among them to be honest. And Hunters overall comments on that topic are some of the most ignorant I have heard)

    Arcia also has produced for his other two seasons in the majors as well, it isn't a stretch at all to say it's reasonable to think he can at least duplicate Hunter's numbers this year.
