  1. Yeah, this isn't their order of prospects, this is the order of who I would want the Twins to get, as a Twins fan. Maybe other people see it differently. Buehler does seem really interesting for sure too. Thanks!
  2. Mine is a little different, in that I have (as far as prospects I'd want the Twins to get) #1 Alvarez #1 #2 Bellinger #3 De Leon #4 Buehler #5 Stewart #6 Verdugo #7 Lux And after that, I wouldn't put Toles or Trayce Thompson in there, but they would help too. I'd even like Thompson more than Toles.
  3. Saw that too. I hope he is wrong about keeping him.
  4. Not half a player. Right now Dozier's contract is for 2 years remaining. If we trade him at the deadline, like you said, he would have only 1 and a half years remaining. That extra half year is valuable to another team. Any team trading for him at the deadline is not going to have that first half of the year of Brian Dozier on their team. And really, do you think Dozier hits for the first 2-3 months of 2017 like the last 3 months of 2016? I don't see him falling off the map by any means, but he also isn't Babe Ruth.
  5. Better hope he doesn't get injured or have a start to 2017 that he did in 2016. Oh, and only having 1.5 years of control, compared to two years doesn't help gain value
  6. Aaron Gleeman with a few updates on Twitter today. 7:12 am Asked around on this again. Twins and Dodgers still talking. Sense is they're haggling over what comes with De Leon. 7:22 am While hardly a sure-fire ace, Jose De Leon is the type of pitching prospect the Twins wanted to target. Good stuff, good numbers, MLB-ready. 7:30 am De Leon would definitely be the Twins' top prospect, but after graduations the Twins' farm system isn't very strong.
  7. For argument's sake, who DID show you anything in the rotation last year? Outside of Santana, who were the pitchers that EARNED it for this upcoming year, that showed any semblance of being ready? - Since there was arguably no one in the rotation (outside of Ervin) last year who proved they can be capable of being a full time major league starter, you may as well go with the guy who has the most potential to be good, right?
  8. If Berrios works hard this offseason, and drastically improves his fastball command as well as whatever he was doing to tip his pitches, there isn't anyone that will block him in the rotation. If they get De Leon, then I really think he is in the rotation too. Everyone else will work themselves out. Gnashing our teeth to rid ourselves of any veteran due to adding potential youth isn't helping. If the veteran has better command, at least to start the year, they will be up. If Berrios and De Leon start the year in AAA, I will be disappointed. But if they both start 25 times at the MLB level, that is a good thing.
  9. Are you leaning Faedo (if the draft were today) or Wright? I can go both ways, but I'm kind of leaning Wright more than Faedo, at least as of today.
  10. I'd have to think, if Dozier is traded and someone like Jose De Leon comes back, that he and Berrios (outside of injury) are in the rotation day 1. I don't know what that means for Santiago or Gibson, but I could very easily see them being shopped at that point too, especially with May probably in the rotation and Mejia also knocking on the door, along with Ervin and Phil Hughes (if he is healthy) or any other moves they may make.
  11. Not saying I like some of his numbers either. Just saying, the college hitting/position crop is such that he is thought of as the best college position player. Take that for what you will.
  12. MLB pipeline did a podcast that I listened to this morning on the way to the bus. They talked about the general strengths (college pitching) and weaknesses (hitting, both college and high school) of the class. They talked about the top 5 picks quite a bit (they really like Kendall, and they said that Faedo is the best college pitcher right now, but Kyle Wright absolutely has more projection, and both will absolutely be starting pitchers at the next level, especially when comparing to Carson Fulmer of the White Sox/Vanderbilt) But man, they love Hunter Greene. They talked to a scout at one point who said the best high school pitcher he had ever scouted was Josh Beckett, and this scout is saying that Greene is better than Josh Beckett was in high school. He is that good. Great fastball, plus curveball and has a feel for an average to above average fastball, along with great athleticism. - They were asked about the 1st pick. They said that with how the Twins front office is shaping up to be more analytical, they guessed the Twins would take Kendall or either of the two top college pitchers. They also said, if they had the first pick, they would take Greene and not look back. - http://mlb.mlb.com/fan_forum/podcasts/index.jsp?c_id=mlb&podcast=mlb_pipeline
  13. 1500! Wow, this thread has been fun to follow and participate in. When do people think a trade will happen? I'm hoping asap, but I want the best trade possible. And really, I'd love for it to happen before the holidays and for sure the new year. Today would be nice though. DaveW, any new updates?
  14. Agreed. Rotation help is probably coming through trade, more than likely, as well as switching out Duffey and May. If the Twins can get in on Tyson Ross, great! Otherwise, a piece or two from the free agent ranks in the bullpen will go a long way to helping the roster.
  15. Any chance, just for the sake of humanity (I am exaggerating) that even if there aren't moves before the next roster projection, that Danny Santana isn't listed on the roster? I think all rational Twins fans will feel better going into the year if ANY replacement level player is listed in his roster spot. A replacement level player is a HUGE upgrade on Santana, and the Twins will be a better projected team because of it. - But yeah, a Dozier trade and a few veteran signings will change this projection drastically.
  16. I'd think "zero credibility" is a bit harsh. But yeah, he doesn't have a hand in this game, so it is just his opinion.
  17. Dave Cameron isn't in the Twins or Dodgers front offices, but he certainly knows a lot about prospects. He was simply giving an opinion on what the value of Dozier is in a trade. That doesn't necessarily mean it is what the Dodgers or Twins would or would not do, but I can absolutely see his point.
  18. So, really then, he isn't an option if the Dodgers can get Dozier.
  19. Agreed, a LOT to like about Stewart. He was the Dodgers minor league pitcher of the year last year, and even at the major league level had a 3 pitches with an above average swing and miss rate (Brandon Warne has mentioned that more than a few times on his podcast) and after 149 combined innings last year between the minors and majors, he would absolutely be ready for a full season without an innings limit. De Leon threw 88 innings last year, and would probably have an innings limit on his arm.
  20. Jeren Kendall is the consensus top college hitter. If they take a college hitter, it would be him. I've heard Brett Gardner/Jacoby Ellsbury comps, for whatever that is worth. Needs to strike out less. Will be fun to watch him this year too. Florida plays at Vanderbilt April 13-15 2017. That would be a fun road trip. #2, #4, #5 and #19 on the mlb pipeline list.
  21. That, or, take the best guy in their mind available at #1, and then with two more picks in the top 40, someone is bound to fall due to contractual needs. This year, with a Dozier trade, potential Ervin trade at some point, and the draft; their farm system will get a nice jolt. Hopefully winning can start again at some point.
  22. If he pitches great this year, I could see it happening too. He had surgery on both knees recently, but that wouldn't stop me if he pitches like an ace this year.
  23. Greene (hs pitcher) and Kendall are the only ones with future 60 grades. If Greene is as good as people think he can be, he could be worth it. Otherwise, after him, I could see the Twins taking college guys with their next couple of picks. Unless of course they LOVE the potential out there.
