  1. According to this article, he has used 29 days of service already, and has 3 full years from now before he would hit arbitration. I don't know what that means in terms of if he stays down in AAA this year or not, but I would believe it would have to be a majority of the year for it to matter. I'm good, if we trade for him, being up day 1. He is 24 and will be 25 at the start of August. http://www.truebluela.com/2016/11/28/13745588/jose-deleon-2016-dodgers-review
  2. Yeah that sounds like a good plan. If he is a Twin, that is. Do you think De Leon would be in the rotation day 1? Would Yadier Alvarez start in Fort Myers?
  3. I like that, I just don't think Bellinger should DH all that often, especially as a 21 for most of the year. Having Mauer as the primary DH (against righties) absolutely will keep him healthier as well. And Vargas (or Grossman) really do hit lefties well, and could be the DH against lefties. But Bellinger, he should probably play a defensive position of some kind, and face everyone until/if he really struggles or a platoon should be created for him against lefties.
  4. One question I have; if the Twins get Bellinger in the deal, where do you see him playing this year? 1) AAA 1st baseman/OF 2) MLB 1st baseman/OF, Mauer to DH against righties and Vargas to DH against lefties 3) Other, and if so, what is that other
  5. I vote correct, and major kudos, if it happens at all. It could just be that players have been agreed upon, but the Dodgers need to figure out Justin Turner and his situation first.
  6. So it could be De Leon, Bellinger, AAAA pitcher (I'm not against it, especially since their AAAA guy may be better than Hector Santiago or Kyle Gibson) and a lottery ticket?
  7. But there will be a 3rd piece? That's cool. Thanks!
  8. Is De Leon, Alvarez and Lux realistic? Or do the Dodgers value Alvarez more than Bellinger? Or is Lux off the table as a 3rd piece?
  9. I don't love Calhoun simply because he probably can't play above average defense anywhere. But he can hit, and he would be an asset as a player/prospect.
  10. I don't know if the Twins can get Alvarez for Dozier. That may be unrealistic. That said, if the Twins are going to get Alvarez, it wouldn't be a 1 for 1, and they could probably add a Brock Stewart in that deal. Hypothetically. Or, at least, another pitcher in the lower levels.
  11. I think if it is the Braves, they would have to include Mike Foltynewicz (who I think is on the verge of potentially becoming an ace) but I don't know if they would want to trade him. The Phillies, you never know. They have a bunch of prospects and young arms, and Dozier might hit 60 homeruns in that ballpark. Plus, it's not like they couldn't afford to give him an extension. Arizona has a LOT of starting pitching, and could always use someone like Dozier. They aren't THAT far behind, especially with stars like Goldschmidt and Pollock. IF they started a deal for Dozier, it would be Bradley plus something else, but they don't have a lot in terms of prospects. Plouffe is not in Justin Turner's ballpark. Not close.
  12. Also, I don't think the Twins should pigeon-hole themselves in HAVING to get pitching in any trade. If they like an outfielder or a shortstop better long term than the pitching that is being offered, you want to get the best assets back in any trade of Dozier. That said, I hope they can upgrade their pitching asap.
  13. The Diamondbacks could build a trade around Archie Bradley, potentially. The Braves have a TON of pitching and could easily offer a deal. The Phillies have a decent number of prospects/arms and have been rumored to be in talks for a good month now, as have the Angels (even if they don't have ANY prospects to deal) Just saying, the Dodgers SEEM like the best fit (they probably are) but other teams would offer something for him if the Dodgers aren't giving the best deal.
  14. The Twins still can talk to other teams than the Dodgers.
  15. Yeah I'm hoping for Bellinger or Alvarez, but I don't know if that is realistic. But if the Twins can get De Leon, Stewart, Lux and then a lottery ticket 16 or 17 year old, I'd do that deal too for sure. I'd have a hard time saying that De Leon, Stewart and two 16 year olds would blow them away, but you never know.
  16. Agreed, that would be a great start. The Twins would probably get another lower level piece, and/or maybe two (thing guys who are at the GCL level) but this would absolutely be a good trade on our end.
  17. Plus, really, let's say Falvey's training methods help develop pitchers at a better rate than we have, since, well, forever. That is going to be noticeable probably not this year, but in the coming 2-3 years. Adding someone like Yadier Alvarez (I'm not saying that is possible, just saying) along with a Fernando Romero, or a Kohl Stewart (with new techniques) or Gonsalves or Jay etc, along with #1 overall pick, comp round A pick and #1 pick in the 2nd round. Well, let's just say, hopefully by 2018 or 2019 we are seeing real change to the pitching staff in one form or another.
  18. Well, and Dustin Nosler, writer for Dodger Digest (and was on Brandon Warne's podcast the other day) was reporting all day yesterday on twitter that he was hearing the pieces for a Dozier trade too. He was saying he was hearing De Leon, Brock Stewart and then two other lower level pieces. But, the talk is out there in other places.
  19. Or, to piggy off Brandon Warne's post from about a week ago or so, why not target someone younger who has already had a season or so in the majors who took some lumps already? Archie Bradley would be PERFECT for this team, and would absolutely be cheaper than acquiring someone like Urias.
  20. More, I was just saying that the Dodgers are full on their 40 man, so that could become an issue if they are wanting to resign Turner, at the very least. I don't know if that should/would hold up a Dozier trade, but if they are adding someone like Dozier to their 40 man roster, at least one guy who is currently on the 40 man would have to be doing out. That's all.
  21. DaveW, Thank you for starting this thread. It has helped me with reading during the workday the past few days, and has been fun to follow (mostly) from afar. Do you think the holdup is on the Twins side, as far as the players they are wanting to get? Or is the holdup more that the Dodgers are waiting on Justin Turner, Kenley Jansen and then potentially trading Brandon McCarthy or Scott Kazmir to create 40 man space? Or are those moves completely unrelated to any potential Brian Dozier trade? Thanks again!
  22. I think if the Twins want to acquire a potential future ace, they have to look more at guys like Yadier Alvarez, who is also in the Dodgers system. Yes, Urias is closer to being an ace, but for the Twins to acquire someone who has that potential, they have to look a rung or two lower in the minors to find someone to mold. I don't even know if the Dodgers would trade Alvarez, but he absolutely has the build, along with a plus fastball and a plus slider, to potentially be that top of the rotation guy in maybe 2018 or 2019.
  23. Well, they did get some extra money in the trade this morning. So.....
  24. Maybe the Twins will pay for wifi on their flight so they can continue discussions in the air?
