  1. Yes, sorry, should have said that.
  2. Most places I've seen say his changeup is his best pitch, but that he also has a slider that can be at least mlb average. That is what fangraphs says on him above, two 60 pitches in his fastball and changeup, and a 50 slider to go along with 60 command. That all sounds positive to me.
  3. The more I read about him, the more I like Stewart too. In some ways, almost more than De Leon, at least for being ready for a full season in 2017. Outside of a few scouting reports that peg him as a 4/5, what else do people not like about him? He seems more than solid to me.
  4. Yeah, I would do that deal in a second. Absolutely.
  5. De Leon would be a great get, and would be a staple in the Twins rotation for years to come. Brock Stewart is another name that is being mentioned. I've seen up and down reports on him, down mostly because some scouting reports peg him as a #4. What do people think of him as a prospect?
  6. What, so just quit and throw our hands up and not do anything? What are you saying?
  7. I know some scouting reports have Stewart as a #4 or #5. I don't know if this is truly what he will be. He has an above average fastball and his best pitch is his changeup. Brandon Warne mentioned it too, but he has good swinging strike rates (over 10%) and his minor league numbers are off the charts. Just saying, I think if De Leon and Stewart are both received in a trade, I wouldn't be disappointed. They are both in our rotation next year, and that is a good thing.
  8. Dodgers top 30 prospects in mlb pipeline http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2016?list=la Fangraphs top 21 Dodgers prospects, 11/6/16 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/top-21-prospects-los-angeles-dodgers/
  9. Maybe you are right. It's hard to say what has actually been discussed. All we have are rumors and conjecture. It certainly is fun to talk about.
  10. But, to the Twins credit, Dozier is the largest upgrade for the Dodgers at a position that they need an upgrade, and also the most easily attainable upgrade as far as prospects are concerned. Yes, they could platoon and get something out of 2nd base, but it certainly wouldn't be the production that Dozier can bring. I don't want this lasting a LOT longer (I wish it were done already) but the Dodgers moving on means that they are getting a lesser piece at 2nd base. That is where the Twins have some leverage still. Kinsler means an extension, and Forsythe means position player prospects (if you think they are getting Forsythe for less than Bellinger, I don't know what to tell you.) And, for obvious reasons, the Dodgers don't want to trade Bellinger. Let's make this happen and move on!
  11. Keith Law, at the time, named Jay the #1 prospect in the draft, and absolutely said he had the best potential in the draft. I don't think he should have been expected to be further along than he has. Even his injury this year wasn't to his shoulder or arm, so I don't understand why people are so down on him.
  12. I think everyone has a different view of what caving means. To me, if they are ending up with De Leon plus a few other good pieces for a guy who won't be around in 2 years, that isn't really caving. Does that make sense?
  13. I'm fine with the twins even "caving" here, for whatever that is worth. The "ok" deal now is going to be better than the best deal in June. And De Leon plus Alvarez (if that is on the table) is a WOW deal for me.
  14. I don't know what or who to believe. I want the best deal possible to happen, and I'm afraid it is taking too long. That said, in my mind, getting Alvarez at all, along with De Leon, is already a steal.
  15. Thing is, man, if they are getting those two (Alvarez and De Leon) they shouldn't need a 3rd piece at all. That's what I am not understanding.
  16. According to fangraphs, the worst player in Twins history (I'm not counting Senators) is Denny Hocking. During his years with the Twins, he accumulated -2.6 WAR, and never had more than .5 WAR in any season. Two other years with above 0 WAR (.3 and .1) and otherwise he was pretty much all negative WAR each year he played.
  17. So let's go with this thread (not the national people, as no one other than this thread is saying that Alvarez is available.) If the deal is De Leon and Alvarez, plus one more piece, what else could there be? This was my DREAM/totally unrealistic trade for Dozier a month ago.
  18. 2nd'd. You take the best assets you believe in when trading an asset. No one can predict the future and what will happen, but you take the 2-3 best players in a trade for Dozier, regardless of position, and get the most worth in your mind. If they happen to be pitchers, all of them, so be it. You want to get the most value possible at the time of the deal.
  19. Could Trayce Thompson be the 3rd piece? I do think he would help the Mlb roster next year
  20. Second this. Why a new thread? What has changed?
  21. I take it to mean he is a 17 year old kid who is not a finished product, and to treat him like a finished product is what I don't understand. All I am saying is, when I read mlbpipeline, and he is one of two guys given a future 60 grade, there is a reason for that. I am not a scout, nor do I work in baseball at this time, but I certainly think that if he is taken #1, the twins would be betting on a guy with higher potential than a 7th inning reliever. But, if they deem someone else more worthy in June 2017, then I am hoping that guy succeeds too
  22. Hold on, what changed? Is it actually close now?
  23. Still doesn't mean Stewart was a bad pick. Hopefully his development can hasten this year, coupled with some new training tactics and a focus on fastball command
  24. How come every single other expert says something different than you are saying? Have you seen Greene pitch? And by all accounts his curveball is potential plus, and his changeup looks average with potential. And, really, he will still be 17 on draft day, so plenty of time to grow.Comparing the highest potential draft pick in the 2017 draft, basically universally, to Jim Hoey? This is nonsense. Maybe Greene isn't the next Josh Beckett, but his ceiling is high for a reason
