  1. Thanks! How nice a piece are they talking? Do you have more names?
  2. Thanks for this. The twins do have some good pitching that is relatively close. Adding De Leon to May and Berrios is a good start. Maybe Hughes can come back, maybe not. And to start the year Ervin will be fine. If 1-2 of Stewart/Gonsalves/Romero/Jay can work out (I think that is very possible) then the rotation will be close to Mlb average, at the very least, in 2018. That is a HUGE upgrade from where they are currently. Then, more good drafts and some solid player development will go a long way to 2019 ongoing becoming a strength
  3. Maybe, maybe not. But if they can get average to above average defense and even average pitching, that would be an offense which could fight for a playoff spot
  4. At least the offense has a number of young players who have 1-2 years experience and still have potential to grow
  5. DaveW, chances this is dead? It certainly feels like no traction whatsoever
  6. So when will this get done? Anyone want to bet on the date and time?
  7. Repeating the Santana trade, with better development, would still be more valuable than losing him for nothing in two years, or even more so giving him an extension into his mid 30's
  8. Yeah, Dozier could have a sub 500 ops in July too, if he hits anything like 2nd half 2014 and first half 2015
  9. I hope you are wrong. If he is still on the roster in spring training, I will be disappointed
  10. I thought Brandon Phillips was still on the Reds, no?
  11. McCutcheon would be a great get, if he reverts back to 2013 or 2014. If last year was a sign of the times, then the Dozier lineup would probably be better. I don't know how much to trust Phillips any longer, and he is absolutely getting up there too.
  12. The Giants are aging fairly fast and don't have much of a farm system to fall back on. I think the Dodgers are there right now, with them at least. I'd put the Nationals and Cubs at the top of the NL, with the Cubs. Giants may be right there too, but I wouldn't argue they are a class ABOVE the Dodgers.
  13. And their pitching is superior to the Cubs pitching, some would argue.
  14. Same. I'm enjoying this thread for sure. No one is forcing anyone to read anything on the internet at all.
  15. I'd be up for a 1 year deal for a guy who can hit lefties well and platoon with Castro, while also providing above average defense and framing capabilities. I don't think Wieters would be a good option as he bats left handed, and I don't know how the others fair on the defensive side. I want to lean Garver or Murphy, but absolutely, if they are not ready, I'd be ok with exploring the options.
  16. Got it. But man, there are still some good players to be had
  17. Are you certain the Rays would want the exact package for Forsythe that the Twins would want? And I want Alvarez, but if he is off the table, I'd want (at the very least) De Leon, Lux, Buehler, and maybe another guy like Trayce Thompson, but I get if it is only 3 guys. That is the least I would want. Course, if the dodgers wouldn't offer even that, I'd offer him to a few other teams to see if their best offer is at least that good.
  18. Got it, yeah I read that. Just saying, Romero is the guy they are talking about
  19. Check out how Fernando Romero absolutely has the potential to be one. He isn't one yet, but he can be. Outside of him, I don't know if they meant someone else. Brice Zimmerman, the Fort Myers Miracle radio announcer, said Romero this year was as unhittable as any pitcher he had seen pitch in the Florida State League, and compared him to Noah Syndegaard and Matt Harvey's pitching while they were in the FSL. We can only hope.
  20. Or, at the very least, show and role model for the younger kids how to prepare, both physically and mentally, for the pro game each and every day, and for a bullpen guy, each and every hitter and inning. Young guys have done this for a while, but most of the young bullpen pitchers are failed starters. A veteran bullpen guy can help teach and show the ropes.
